The Town will pop up into my best of 2010 list. I think the comparisons to Heat are justified. It had a similar 'feel' and similar themes. However, it definitely didn't come off as a cheap knock off. I think The Town was more tense and gritty than Heat. One things for sure - Affleck has a damn good start to his directing career with this movie and Gone Baby Gone. (Would like to see him do something outside of his Boston comfort zone though). 8/10
Have avoided this movie cause Affleck is probably my most annoying actor currently, but it's at the dollar movie now so maybe I'll go check it out.
I

1/2 dollar movie theaters. Local one closed ~5 years ago, miss that place big time.
NYC had a $2 theater years ago... The Worldwide, or soemthing like that. You got what you paid for- entire extended families having picnics over multiple aisles, yelling to pass the Popeyes this way or that (a woman brought her complete brood, ranging from 6mo to probably 7 years to see an R rated movie concerning boarding school kids who all get molested/raped- her kids screamed the entire time, so I yelled- "can you please take your kids out of here?"... response "They're just little children, they don't know better"...

...). Drug-addicts shooting/smoking up and "chilling" (loudly moaning, screaming or otherwise being addicts), cheap-bastards on dates (oh, hi) practically date-raping their cheap dates (sorry, Candice, Mira, Jenni, Lisa.....)... basically all manner of mayhem and noise. The extra 5 or 6 bucks at the time was most definitely worth it- although I learned to see big, loud movies to help drown out the freaks.Closed about 10 years ago- with the 3yo, I'd kill for that now.
