My Own Private Idaho:
I will file this in the "glad I got around to watching it, but didn't enjoy the experience" movies. Thought River did a good job, but it feels to me that the movie gets a rep more from his young death and being in so few roles and less about the movie. Or maybe I am not putting it in the time bubble enough and thinking about it through the lens of what else was out there in film, etc..
Shock Corridor:
This one I thought was great. The first Samuel Fuller movie that I have seen - I didn't realize it but I guess I have 2 others in my stack. This one centers around a reporter faking insanity to get committed to an asylum with the hopes of solving a murder that occurred there. To get to the bottom of it, he has to talk to 3 witnesses to the crime who are there for various reasons, and gave Fuller a way to echo the problems of the times such as worries about atomic energy/bombs and racism. Thought there were some great performances and it definitely had some unsettling scenes. Has a more pulpy/B-movie feel too it, but I would think a few here would enjoy it.
