It is amazing to me how bad R.I.P.D. was. I can't think of one redeeming thing about it and for the life of me I can't figure out why they decided to make it. Might just be the worst movie I have seen in the past.... 5 years lets' go with.

Agreed. I went and saw Tron Legacy in the IMAX. The sound alone was just jaw dropping. Incredible soundtrack and a really cool flick. Far better than the cheesy, pointless original. It is nostalgia. I re-watched it and was bored to tears. Awful movie.In the land of the witless, the half-wit is king.You are an insane person.
Nostalgia is the only thing that the original Tron has going for it. And that wears really thin really quickly if you watch it. There's almost no story, the editing is poor, as are the performances (although slack has to be given there).
It's a bad, bad movie.
Great video games though (Tron Deadly Discs ruled on Intellevision).
Ok so my wife and I watched a couple of flicks this weekend.
The Other Son - outstanding foreign film. Very heartwarming and well acted. 8/10
The Lords of Salem - took almost two hours of my life away. What a waste of time. I love Zombies other flicks (House of 1000 Corpses, Devils Rejects and Halloween, Halloween II was meh at best). So I was actually looking forward to his take on Witchcraft. What a mistake. He seemed more concerned of ### shots of his wife, and plenty of naked nasty old ladies screaming and moaning. The story was weak. It actually started decent...then after 30 minutes I knew..oh no this is garbage. 3/10

Grand Budapest Hotel - started it last night, watched about half. I was pretty tired so will reserve judgement until I am more alert and watch the rest. it was either not very enjoyable because I was tired, or not very enjoyable because I just don't enjoy it. I'm on the fence at this point.

I'd call it a lot better than ok.If we were given more Brian Cranston I would agree however the main character wasn't interesting at all. And every time we thought we were going to get some monster v monster action they gave us a closeup of the boring protagonist or switched scenes entirely and gave us a silly news clip of the aftermath. It was okay but I was definitely hoping for more actual Godzilla.Someone pointed out that there was too much people and not enough monster. But I already saw that movie, it was called Pacific Rim and I liked it. But this movie isn't the same, and that's more interesting.

kind of reminded me of Jaws.. You got glimpses of Jaws here and there early in the movie...but it wasn't until very deep into the movie that you saw him and

The Spy Who Came In From The Cold - 7/10
If you like dialog driven drama, then this is the movie for you. I think I'm too spoiled from watching things like the Bourne and newer Bond movies.
Richard Burton is good in it though.

I have no idea why my son is resistant to seeing this. My wife and I both are fighting to be the one to take him...
He wants to see Earth to Echo, which looks like a lazy, cynical producers attempt at mashing up Batteries Not Included with ET. Just terrible.

Correct and Jaws was also freaking terrifying because it made you feel like it could really happen. It tapped into a primal fear of many people. I like what they tried to do but they made some big slips along the way that brought it down for me.

I totally get where you're coming from. Clearly the movie wanted to make a story that wasn't just giant monsters. I'm all for giant monster movies, so I liked both Godzilla and Pacific Rim.I can see that.I'd call it a lot better than ok.If we were given more Brian Cranston I would agree however the main character wasn't interesting at all. Watched Enemy last night and I wouldn't give it more than a 5. There were several WTF moments including the final scene. After watching the "making of" special feature, I see what they were going for, and I guess in some respects they achieved it, but I just didn't think it was very entertaining. At least there were some boobs to be seen. Unless you are very bored, I'd look elsewhere for an entertaining flick.

Haha, I knew I could count on my boy Darren Aronofsky to not make this some straight forward god love-fest even though that's the way it was marketed. I have no idea what the story of Noah in the bible entails beyond the 40 days of flooding and dove finding an olive branch, but I liked the plot twists and shifting antagonists.
I can see why the back half of the movie tested so poorly in screenings and led to that whole standoff with the studio wanting it changed, but I'm glad they stuck with it.

I am still a little mixed. I was told it was best to watch it twice and I wasn't sure at first why I'd want to but I did go back and watch certain parts. The ending and story made a lot more sense. I too like mind bender movies, but just not sure about this one.

I enjoyed parts of it, probably 2.5 out of 5 starts.. but with the actors in it, and the story to that could be told it did disappoint.
Was really hoping, based on the commercials, for a "Kelly's Heroes" type of Movie and there were some funny moments.. But just seemed the director couldn't decide how he wanted to tell the story and thus it was underwhelming.

That's a good synopsis. Matt Damon in France by himself was a waste of time. That shold have happened quicker. Breaking the team up also left a lot to be desired because the point of that cast, I thought, was to have them interact with each other more. There was also no character developement. The scene with Bill Murray listening to the song on the record should have been a lot more powerful except that there was no backstory on him at all and why it would matter any more than any other soldier in the war.snogger said:*fixed and yea, I agree..joffer said:

The scene where Clooney and the kid from New York brought the wounded soldier in was also dying for some backstory or at least a scene of setup and we got nothing. The director clearly wanted to show that these guys were real soldiers dealing with real soldier things but he ended up doing a piss poor job at it. Same thing with the dead Englishman. We get it, he redeemed himself. But he wasn't in it enough to care why.
The start had a feel like it was going to be Oceans 14 and I was worried about that, so at least it wasn't that. But it could have been so much more. It's a fascinating story. Hell even the Russian part of it was ridiculously undertold - it was just there to set up them running out of the final mine - which we never actually get to see. Just a lot of tension and drama with no set up or proper payoff. Eh, not every movie can be 5 stars, amiright?

The world's end - 3/5. Entertaining but pretty goofy. Very similar to Shaun of the dead so if you liked that comedy this would be well worth watching.
Oldboy - 3/5. I wanted so badly for this to be good. I was into the story the whole time, but the plot is just so far out there. Brolin is great but the continuity issues, samuel Jackson's character, and the ending are just stupid.

It is indeed such a GREAT story and this movie was IMHO a one half star. That bad.
I think Clooney wanted a current day "Bridge Too Far" type star filled action war movie - and it was just poorly produced, poorly written, and poorly everything else.
