Guess we could keep rental in there.I can’t tell if you guys are being serious or notI strenuously object.

I am serious but I suppose I could eventually adapt to a different title
l still see people post in threads sometimes asking if there is a new movie thread sometimes but fair enough it might be a pointless changeI think the confusion it causes is funny, but also am fine if the title changes if that's what people want. I thought we all pretty much knew it was a general movie thread now.
don't we already kinda use it for that? I use this thread to post (most of my) movie reviews) and you guys make new threads for other movies. I sort of just like having one movie review thread but I could see some value in one thread combined. I'm mostly a no.What do the regular posters in this thread think about changing the title to just a general movie thread? It’s kind of been that in practice just not in name?
Yeah it is how it's used, just thought it would make sense for the thread title to match what's really in going on here. I think some people don't post about movies at the theater for example because of the rented part in the thread title.don't we already kinda use it for that? Most of Adrien Brody's scenes were cut from the film and he wasn't aware of these changes until he saw the film at the premiere. Brody came to the premiere expecting to see himself as the lead character and was shocked when he saw that he was barely featured in the film, especially since Cpl. Fife was the central character in the novel on which the movie was based.
Just watched this and it was a ton of fun. Mashup of Back to the future, Halloween and Scream.Totally Killer
Malick has a very unique movie making style. He films a ton of stuff and the movie really comes together in the edit. I don’t think he cares much what the script was or anything like that, he’s more capturing what interests him at the moment and then figures out the movie later. He’s the anti-Hitchcock in that way. It produces widely varying results and a lot of people are allergic to his movie style.So...I don't really think that The Thin Red Line was that good. It's just an anti war film that's not as good as the other more popular ones, and with good reason. This movie was a slog and the last 50 minutes were especially brutal and (mostly) unnecessary, IMO.

How much of the movie, if at all, deviated from the authors original intent?
Nick Nolte's cartoonish villain was ok and serves its purpose. There were some decent scenes and it LOOKS good but this isn't really for me.
He's hit or miss for me but I'm glad he exists and I've never felt watching his films are a waste, if that makes any sense.Malick has a very unique movie making style. 80s kid here who liked it. https://forums.footballguys.com/thr...ious-streaming-platforms.723607/post-25177588Just watched this and it was a ton of fun. Mashup of Back to the future, Halloween and Scream.Totally Killer
If you were an 80s teen (which I most certainly was not) you'll probably hate it, but I thought it was a hoot.
That's a very polite way to say, the first part was awesome, the other two were very good but could have been better, and the ending sucked so badly that it was offensive.A House of Dynamite (new on Netflix) tells the story of a nuclear missile attack on the US. It's Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow's first film in almost a decade.
The script employs an interesting narrative technique of running through the same events three times with each pass through revealing additional characters and new details. The gimmick worked for me because it maintained the tension of the situation without having to cut simultaneously between too many storylines. The movie is very technically proficient but not an easy watch because of its very heavy subject matter.

IMHO
Watched House of Dynamite . Well made, intense topic obviously, portrayed the madness of this situation well.
I get why people wouldn’t like the ending. I can’t get spoiler tags to works SO STOP READING….
I WARNED YOU IT IS NOW YOUR FAULT. Not really a good way to end this. I didn’t mind it being left open ended. If you see missiles flying well it’s all over, if you don’t it’s then there is a completely new story to tell. Would need a sequel. What this did do well is show how ridiculous this entire situation is.
Agreed. That was all well done. I think everyone did a great job at confident ignorance in a high stress situation. And the absurdity of the whole situation was and is clear to anyone who has seen this type of act before.Watched House of Dynamite . Pretty much agree, how I took it was
It just shows how impossible it would be to expect it to be possible to make a decision one way or another with the information that would be available in the timeframe necessary
Haven’t seen Madame Secretary but I was thinking that the show “Paradise” did something similar much better as well.Agreed. That was all well done. But frankly, Madam Secretary did this scenario better and just as believable in terms of the sheer impossibility of the situation.
But I really hated the ending... No problem not seeing bombs fly and fall. This was a story of people not special effects. No worries. But I didn't get enough of the president and his decision to feel like I got a good, complete story. If they gave me like 15 more seconds and him starting to read out an order code I'd be much less annoyed. I don't even need to know what the package was. Every decision sucks, but I would have liked to know there was a decision.
Keep this stuff in the teenager thread, hossSounds like a need to watch House of Dynamite just to see what all the fuss is about. It might have to wait until Halloween passes though.

Probably went over most people’s heads. I accidentally posted that comment in the wrong thread the first time.Keep this stuff in the teenager thread, hossSounds like a need to watch House of Dynamite just to see what all the fuss is about. It might have to wait until Halloween passes though.![]()
