It's been over 17 years since I last drank tequila. After getting obliterated on my 21st birthday I've avoided the poison. But on a lark I picked some up at the ABC and I'm actually enjoying it more than whiskey.

Aside from shots and margaritas, what's your favorite tequila drink?

Don and Ginger - Don Julio and Ginger Ale, heavy on the former.

A good blanco and lime (add sugar if you like, basically a Tequila Gimlet)

My fav very reasonable bottle is Milagro (Blanco, again). About 20 bucks and good to shoot and not too expensive to mix, especially if you like'm strong.

Best move for me with tequila is pouring it out... it really has a negative effect on me...

Now Mezcal is where you should head to with Mexican spirits.. love the smokiness.

I did pick up a few flavored tequilas when I was in mexico last time.. can't beat the coffee flavored or almond flavored for shooters

I've had many a night where "a round of tequilla shots" punctuated my memory of things, but I've always been on the verge of throwing it up whenever I did throw back a shot. A bottle of Patron sat in my freezer for well over a year until one night I felt like a drink with nothing in the house. I drink whiskey neat and vodka chilled, so I tried sipping on it for a bit instead of drinking like a frat boy, and it opened up a whole new world. It didn't prompt me to start trying more and more of the better ones, but it did open my eyes to the fact I can enjoy it. Maybe I'll try a few soon, but probably not until the spring as I bet I stick with bourbon and scotch through the winter.

The Canton-Ese here is awesome, they drop a jalapeno in it too, delicious. I'd try to replicate this one.

Sometimes I add a mezcal float to give it a nice smoke flavor.

This is spot on. Don Julio is as good as it gets IMO. No hangovers as long as it's 100% agave and always avoid Cuervo.Edited to add Milagro is good also.

Funny. I turned 21 about 24 years ago and still can't drink the stuff other than in a margarita a couple of times a year.

This is spot on. Don Julio is as good as it gets IMO. No hangovers as long as it's 100% agave and always avoid Cuervo.Edited to add Milagro is good also.

Avoid Cuervo Gold as it is not 100% agaveTheir Reserva de la Familia is a stunner. $100+ a bottle but is a great sipping Extra Anejo

Sauza Tres Generaciones Añejo - 100% blue agave, triple-distilled, aged 12 months in toasted American oak barrels.

Damn fine "sipping" tequila... almost has a "buttery" quality to it.

This. Tequila is my go-to hard liquor. I can drink it straight...nearly chug it. I tiny bit of Whiskey or Bourbon will make me gag, but Tequila is delicious. I've got a buddy who is the polar opposite.

Anyway, I love to just mix it with pineapple juice...even better if you give it a splash of pomegranite too. The pom gives it some color if you're worried about appearance.

Infused with pineapple is great too. Throw pineapple chunks in a jar with a bottle of silver, let it sit for a few days, serve on ice. Fantastic. Dangerously so.

I'm basically your polar opposite as well until figuring out I can sip on tequila just fine. If I tried to chug a glass, I'd puke all over the place, like almost happens if I shoot it anyway.
