Redzone channel (1 Viewer)

I'd sure love to add it somewhere, but each time I find it--connected to this network or that streaming platform, it's a two part fleecing where I have to get a bunch of $hit I don't want just to get RedZone which I do want.

Anyone know how to cut through this? Or the least complicated path?

This is the answer. NFL+ Premium

You only get Redzone.
I did this, and it's up on my computer just fine, but I can't find where I can add any apps on my Smart TV for NFL Network, NFL +, or RedZone, or any of it. Computer only is fine, but is that all I get?

There's an NFL app. I don't know what kind of TV you're using but I'd imagine it's pretty widely available.
That's what I thought. It's a Samsung and I am shocked and chagrined to say it's just not there. I can't be this stupid. Can I?

Huh, according to google the NFL app isn't supported on Samsung smart TVs. Color me surprised. I use a Fire Stick for everything, I've always felt the built-in app experiences on smart TVs were not as good.

The alternative is adding on RedZone to another streaming service you're already paying for like Sling, Fubo, etc. Usually runs around $10 a month to add the "sports package" (which is going to include like 50 other channels you'll never watch, you're basically just paying $10/mo for RedZone and then canceling at the end of the season).
Would the fire stick solve it? Nothing and I do mean nothing makes me feel older these days than simply navigating my f@cking TV.

You can definitely download the NFL app on a Fire Stick. I'm a fan, like I said I have one plugged into all my TVs so I'm getting the same experience everywhere as opposed to whatever interface the TV manufacturer decided to bolt on to their hardware. Been using them for years and haven't run across anything I wanted to do that I couldn't.

I don’t think Samsung has a native NFL app. Use firestick.

So... Redzone just has ads now?

Two commercials that cut the volume out of the game, which takes up a third of the screen.
Thats the game feed. Normally they switch away when they do that but I guess no other games were live at that point.
The Verizon ad they showed early on is part of RedZone and not the local broadcast since they are a major sponsor of the channel
The split screen one they had with Lamar was the split in game screen.

The "split" takes up a third of the screen and they cut the volume from the game to play the ad.

That's no longer commercial free.

It wasn't Redzone though. They could have cut away but it was the network fees.

RedZone has gotten really sloppy this season getting audio wrong, not muting commercials on split screens.

I still love RZ and honestly without it the NFL has become almost unwatchable because of the incessant amount of advertising. I mean it’s so outta hand.

But that’s what happens when owners pay guys like Daniel Jones, Dak Prescott and Tua 10’s of millions of dollars per year who have not won jack ****.

They have to basically whore the broadcasts out for that revenue share pot of gold.

Anyway RZ or bust for me. It’s literally the only thing keeping me watching.

Yeah there were ads from Verizon, Visa, and Gatorade. Lots of people online are complaining about it. I didn’t mind the banner ads they showed once in a while but when they interrupt with a picture-in-picture commercial with audio, that’s against their whole “7 hours of commercial-free football” mantra.

They don’t have enough media to cut away when live broadcasts do the simulcasting ad crap.

The real problem is the NFL not just going to a full Ad, instead they are getting as greedy as possible to put ads into anything that’s living or breathing.

Go full commercial break or just do something between with a media segment.

This product is so much worse than the DTV redzone. You’ve all covered the ads here.

Hanson is really bad. Just cover the action. I don’t need to know the possible playoff clinch scenario for a team based on if 3 games hold their scores. It’s week 15. Best thing he could do is to just shut up most of the time.

With all the late games starting at 4:25 yesterday, I can’t remember the last time where there wasn’t live game action between 1pm and 7:30pm. All of the early games ended by 4:15.

He was straight calling plays wrong at least three times yesterday... As he was talking over the announcers who were calling the actual play.

The quality of redzone has slipped as theyve become the only game in town and the NFL continues on its quest to squeeze out every possible penny.

I love RedZone and I think Hanson is fantastic. Sure he makes mistakes navigating game action non stop for 7 hours.

But I also remember when the first time I'd see game highlights was halftime of the MONDAY night game. LOL.
I feel like this is a difference in ideology.
I would like to watch a game without color commentary - just tell me who and where, let me make my own opinion as to if the 5th string left tackle has just been waiting to prove himself. Others like what color commentators add to the broadcast, insight into the players and plays. Hanson is a color commentator to me. He tries to play-by-play, but he's too interested in being a fan to give the stats.

For the record, I think Scott Hanson is/was great. It just seems that Red Zone production values have changed. I used to watch Red Zone feeling like I was the most informed viewer in the world, and now it's devolving into a BeDazzler.

I guess I am not knowledgeable enough to notice anything inaccurate to bother me (other than Hanson using phrases that don't make sense, but if I had to do any sort of live unscripted speaking, nothing I said would make any sense). Bengals games and RedZone are pretty much all I watch, it's great.

Please don’t belittle the amazing product that IS the BeDazzler. 😂

I think we could all use a gem encrusted denim jacket at some point in our lives.

It not that we are seeing part of a CBS/fox commercial. It's RedZone putting a 15 sec commercial on half the screen, with the muted live game on the other half -- albeit during down time between plays.

I think redzone is amazing and I can’t imagine walking the line that some seem to think is reasonable! Absolutely no errors in 7 hours, you goof balls!! Oh no, I saw part of a commercial, quick start complaining!

Not cutting away from a network commercial the instant it shows up is no big deal.

The difference now is that Redzone itself is adding their own ads, despite their whole business model they sold to us being that you pay $10/mo to have it without ads.

And even though a couple of 15 second ads aren't that big of a deal right now, we all know they're just dripping it in slowly and a few years from now it will be full-on ad supported (likely along side an increase in the monthly rate).

Red Zone was designed for fantasy footballers
For me it's the best channel on tv for 4 months
Why?Because I'm a fantasy footballer
I pay extra for 4 months to get it
It works out to $2.50 a week
For me it's the best value/bargain anywhere in any category
Been to McDonalds lately?
Long live The Red Zone Channel!
And kudos to Scott Hanson
Who was a fifth string wide receiver at Syracuse University
His roommate was Marvin Harrison Sr.

They are definitely employing the drip drip method just like others do. Start out with a little advertising and slowly add on more in either quantity or price so that few even notice.

Sure. But fortunately, both types can be easily satisfied. The type that doesn't like commentary can simply mute the sound. Everyone wins.

Interesting. Can you elaborate on what you think changed? It seems as great as ever to me.

I hear you @Fruitbat When people talk about putting ads on the forums that are free, this is the kind of thing I say I don't have the energy for.

Mentioned previously, it's the contant distraction of multiple boxes - what I hear and what I see are constantly out of alignment.

EDIT: and it seems like they're much worse at lingering on a game when it looks like something important happens. Was there a late hit? Seems like they wre tuned into that in the past, now it's all about ... something else.

Yeah, they go triple box way, way too often. It's part of a deal with Big TV designed to sell larger televisions.

I preferred when they would show the game with team currently closest to the end zone and just switch single screen. Now they keep triple box going constantly if they can. It's terrible.

Interesting. Thanks. It's always good to hear different takes. But I feel as informed as ever. Maybe more.
Do you think the Red Zone experience is the same as it always was (or, say five years ago), or do you think it's better?

My experience is it seems as good as it ever was. Maybe a bit better as they seem to have more coverage.

But Ill be honest, part of me each week is just grateful that we live in a world where one can see the highlights in near real time from 8 games at once. That's just incredible to me.
