Rematch: Message Board Vs. Staff Survivor (1 Viewer)

these kinda things can be "clicky" and I could see how that would annoy some folks.
I think bostonfred did a good job with that last year.BassNBrew - don't think he's a clique guy

Evilgrin 72 - wasn't a clique guy at the time

Family Matters - non-shukie

Iwannabeacowboybaby - non-shukie

JoeT - clique guy

Ken Maxwell - not sure

LHUCKS - non-shukie

Ministry Of Pain - non-shukie

radballs - dunno

Tick - non-shukie

Unlucky - non-shukie

Not bad, really. They're well-known names around here and there's definitely some inbreeding there between No Mercy, Zealots, MOX, and the message board survivor leagues, but it's not a clique thing, I'd say.
I was in the first one, and I definitely wouldn't put myself in the "click" category. In fact, very few (if any) could be defined that way, IMO...
I was in the first one also, and no clique for me. As Groucho said: I would never join a club that would have me as a member. He also said: I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it. :D

I too enjoy the posts of the above posters.Sorry if "clicky" offended some I meant no disrespect and am somewhat surprised it seems to have bugged some folks. Attempt to explain:I imagine some newbie in the summer will see the guys above debating often with each other and presume it as such. I do understand we're all "here" often and that's bound to happen. However, I don't think some newbie could completely understand our "obsession" with this place+debating FF stuff. Granted I don't notice Maxwell and Unlucky around as much as I'd like but, any predictions how many times LHucks and MOP will debate back and forth this summer? Or rad and IWBC will? Then when the vote comes how would that newbie feel? I think it might appear "clicky" to him.

Also BF did his job and picked 12 people, I have no prob with him doing what he was asked to do. That'd be silly

Well, hope this makes more sense

David,

Without saying who was the bad apple is it possible you could say if post counts=good # of contributions to the writing process?

Wonderring if it's as simple as someone spends a zillion hours posting already and has the habit of writing about FF. That might favor the regulars but IMO there's nothing wrong with that
Not sure I follow the "clicky" aspect to this. I don't see it with the folks involved in this one. Just because the names are familiar it doesn't create a basis for a clique. If you're suggesting that number of posts makes some sort of qualifer for being able to write quality material then I would say that's not likely. Being a mass poster in no way qualifies anyone for anything other than being a mass poster.

Bri if I got you worng on this then my apologies but it sounded that way to me.
clcky-previous postI'm not sure. You have a valid argument here. I just was trying to think of a way David could feel secure that he'd get the promised writings from the selected field of FF participants. I guess I just figured if ya like to write here alot about FF, it's a good bet you'll get that aspect done.

I also, FWIW, have high praise for this board and generally assume every regular here is quite good at FF. Not sure it's possible to be a regular here and NOT be very good at FF. I suppose it's possible if all the info and theories confuse ya but....

Last year, I posted a thread asking for volunteers to be on the message board team. I bumped it several times to make sure anyone who was interested got a chance to see it. I ws very clear on my criteria - I was looking for top posters who would bring something good to the writeups. It should come as no surpise that the team was comprised largely of posters whose names they had seen.

I think the clique you're in uses that limp wrist handshake, don't they? :P
Only cause our arms/wrists are so tired from hoisting all those trophies! ;)

I'm glad to have been a part of this, and I understand the reasons for not continuing. I'm sure there will be an opportunity for non-sanctioned staff vs. board competition.
Indeed. Back in 2003 in the second year of the FBG's survivor contests, a group of 12 MB members squared off against each other in FBG-sponsored Survivor II.We had so much fun, the next year we all got together on our own to have a rematch, Son of Survivor II. IIRC, FBG's even picked up the league fee in exchange for us doing another set of write ups.

Then came Grandon of Survivor II last year, with no writeups requested by FBGs. Though we still did a thread where we each supplied our own draft strategy and draft analysis. We had two spots and added Yudkin and MT, and though it wasn't designed as a staff vs MB league, it's definitely fun to square off against Aaron, Marc, Yudkin and MT.

There's no reason that individuals out there can't go set up their own leagues and invite some staffers and MB'ers to participate if they don't get chosen for the FBG-mandated one. As for us old-time Survivor II folk, I hope we're going to continue the tradition again this year. I'm pretty sure MFL's league names are long enough to hold the name "Red Headed ******* Step-Child of Survivor II".
