From Roto:

Rams coach Scott Linehan says he's open to entertaining the possibility of acquiring Ricky Williams to be Steven Jackson's backup.

Ricky played for Linehan when he was the Dolphins' offensive coordinator in 2005. "Based on how he played and the kind of person he was to be around, and the professional he was, I would certainly consider it," the coach said. "He's proven himself with me." Williams will learn whether he'll be reinstated to the NFL within the next 60 days.

I would rather Jackson's FF production take a little hit by acquiring a backup that would take carries here and there. The amount of rushes + receptions he got last year would cause his NFL career to be shortened. I would rather hold onto this gem for a long time.

He's so cheap and Brown was hurt some in 05 I wonder if Miami would trade him. The team has been quiet on that front so far.

Buffalo and GB are possibilities if he is declared eligible before the draft.

I wonder if any of the teams still in the market for a number one back would be interested in him as well. Such as Buffalo, Green Bay, possibly Minnesota...etc.

I think teams expect to get him for a pittance, but the truth is he's still incredibly valuable to the Dolphins. He can still produce at a high level, he doesn't mind being the backup, he's getting paid the minimum, and Ronnie Brown hasn't proven he can play for the whole season yet. I can't see a scenario where the Dolphins give him up for a throw away 2nd day pick. At the same time, I can't see a scenario where another team trades a valuable first day pick for a guy who is 1 failed test away from pretty much ending his NFL career.

Agreed!

Isn't it tampering to comment on players under contract to other teams? Seems Linehan crossed a line here.
It's not tampering to answer a reporters question..."Coach, since you know Ricky Williams would you welcome him as a part of the team in training camp if he were to somehow end up on your team?""Based on how he played and the kind of person he was to be around, and the professional he was, I would certainly consider it," the coach said. "He's proven himself with me."Just an example of how the situation possibly occurred.

I would trade him asap for the reason you gave, hes one failed test away from banishment. Get something for him at least?! Hes not going to stay clean, hes proven that better than hes proven that he can be a RB1.

He's gotten help from Michael Vick, apparently the water bottle also hides urine samples.

I have a redraft starting tomorrow. I have the 2nd pick and this was the last thing I needed to see. Jackson was my pick, but not I may go with LJ.

Well it's a PPR league as well, so SJ may very well still be the choice.Still, this news doesn't exactly make me feel good.
