Aged vanilla. And it's got that frosted mug taste. :banned:

Not even close.

Can't drink regular beer, so I go a bit over on RB.

Like A&W for regular root beer. (~$4.25/12 pack) Like Saranac for a better RB (~$5/6 pack). I like how you can get the Saranac in a diet with an indistinguishable taste from the regular.

Was visiting in-laws in GB, and we were headed north, stopped for lunch at a hole-in-the wall bar in the middle of nowhere. They had Sprecher on tap. Served in a big ice cold mug, breathtaking. Have some in cans, good, but nothing compared to on tap. Same for regular brewed beer, too (tap v bottled or canned)

Sorry, guys. IBC root beer is the winner here.
IBC is not in the contest.HTH
Then it's not a contest.HTH
You're right about one thing. It's not a contest. It's a coronation. And A&W is being crowned.
And while the king was looking down, IBC stole his thorny crown.
Theft is the only way IBC could get it. Because IBC doesn't have the ability to earn it.

I went down to the grocery store where I'd bought some root beer years before. But the man there said the root beer wouldn't sell.

I don't drink pop very often, but when I do, A&W is on my short list of pops I want.
Only dorks call it pop
Most people in the Midwest call soft drinks pop ...dork.

We used to get it to go from the restaurant in big paper cones. Seemed like it was better that way ...but that was too long ago, way before A&W was in cans/bottles.

There's a store in Minnesota that has all kinds of root beers and creme sodas and the like from all over the country - like 1000s of options. I have a Judge Wapner Root Beer in my fridge. I'm afraid to drink it but I really like having that bottle in there.

What store is this?

Back in the day there was an old woman who had a grandfathered homestead in the BWCA. She made root beer and sold it to sustain herself. Damn that stuff was good.

Her name was Dorothy something. First visited in 1974. The last time I saw her would have been maybe 1986.

The best pie I ever had was from an old lady in Minnesota too. I was driving SW out of the twin cites. I was suffering from severe munchies. There was a little diner roadside off a county highway. I pulled in for coffee and decided to try a slice of deep dish Dutch apple pie, sort of trying to wake up for the late night drive. I left with six pies.

Keep us posted.

I'm from New Orleans, so I'm nowhere near unbiased, but give me a cold Barq's in a bottle with an oyster loaf all day long...

Used to love IBC, I had forgotten all about it. I only drink Fitz's now.
Fitz's & Sprecher are the top notch RB's. Taste like candy in a bottle.
A guy I work with would bring me a couple sixers of this every time he went home to visit family in Wisconsin. I didn't have the heart to tell him that Holiday Market near my home carried it.
