Ryan Mathews likely out until October (1 Viewer)

Mathews having a late afternoon game sucks. I can't risk taking a zero from my RB.I'm gonna put Dwyer in the lineup (UGH!) and pray he does something. We'll get 'em next week with Ryan!
steelers play at 4 alsooh and thanks for the update cheech!
Bite me. It might actually help others if we discuss our thought process.
i dont give a #### about your team
You're gonna have to get over it.

All in all, it sounds like he's probably not playing this week, but we'll know more after practice.
I find that the Charger fans are one of the more knowledgeable on this board about their team. When he is back and running, what are your expectations, is he a top 10 guy per week at RB, can SD move the ball on the ground?

Since we're doing this.I have Hillis in the lineup now but am thinking of just going with Dwyer if Mathews is inactive.
That's a hard one. Buffalo looked dreadful last week. I'd stick with Hillis.
Yeah, they were awful last week but this is their home opener, their D has taken a lot of criticism after that performance when they were supposed to be much improved, and if you look at the stats the Jets ypc was very poor.I think the potential upside of Mathews if he plays is worth waiting on because I think Dwyer has as much upside as Hillis if Mathews is out.

Not looking for advice. It's called a discussion. My point was I think Mathews potential if he plays is worth gambling on IF you have decent options for the later games. The discussion of specific players was in response to RN. If it bunches your panties too much feel free to ignore it.

Discussing an alternate plan, rather than starting the player who is the subject of this thread - and who may be a last-minute scratch - is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Why is that so hard to grasp?

Yeah...that's kinda the idea. If you didn't have another decent option available later on with Mathews, you probably wouldn't take the risk of waiting to decide.

Ryan Mathews says speed of game feels fast. Norv Turner says RM needs practice time. Doubt two limited days were enough. Believe he sits .
Im hoping they sit Mathews another week just to be safe.

Im stung this week because I sat Benson for him, asuming he was back.

Right now after reading where he is at, another week off might be best.

Paging Kendall Hunter.

Whole lotta not being excellent to each other going on in this thread.

I own Mathews and in fact protected him from last year knowing about the injury. I drafted my team knowing I would most likely be without him for the first 2-4 weeks. Anyone that took a risk on him should have planned for what we are seeing now.

Anyway, I am hoping he gets a full week of practice in this week and he is able to go in week 3. If he is still not 100% by week 3, I hope they sit him until week 4. Of course I want him in my lineup but I need him for the long haul and rushing him back too soon can kill the season. It's 1 thing to sneak by with McGahee and/or Donald Brown as my #2 rb for a few weeks. It's an entirely diferent thing having to use them in that capacity the whole year.

Just my 2 cents

I don't know whether you would call this a shark move, or error on a newbie.

One guy in our league just dropped Mathews and scooped him up and placed him in I/R.

If this guy is full speed by week 5, this may be the pick up that take me all the way.

Best Money I've spend in years
