Saints offered 1.2 pick for Romo, (1 Viewer)

On the way home I was listening to the Sunday night game on westwood radio... and one of the announcers said Sean Payton really wanted to bring Romo to the Saints... and that they offered their 1.2 pick for Romo but they were turned down...

Maybe the announcer made a mistake and said "2nd overall" instead of "2nd round" pick

Did anyone else hear this?

If true why would the cowboys not start romo earlier if they thought he was so valuable?

Maybe their 1st round pick in year 2112.

Besides the fact that this just doesn't make sense, I live in New Orleans and have never heard anything remotely close to that. Obviously, I can't say for sure but I hope that helps.

Same reason Jake Plummer and Kurt Warner started over Jay Cutler and Matt Leinart for part of this season.

Can't really compare Romo to a rookie, he had a lot more expeirence (training camps, practice for 3 years)

My understanding is that NO offered Dallas a Second ROUND pick for Romo. When Dallas turned that down, they went after Brees.

I heard a while back that Payton insisted on bringing Romo into New Orleans with him. Dallas refused and the Saints went after Brees.
