Amazing how different all leagues are:
In one league: 5 bids for Steele and he goes for 52/100.
In another league: an owner drops Steele! For jajuan Jennings.
In my league I stole Steele for $4 ($200 budget). No one else put in a bid for either Steele, Perine or Hunt. I've been wondering all morning what I missed.

In my dynasty league I’m making a move for Steele as I have a great starting lineup but no depth whatsoever. Just lost Kupp. Feel it’s worth taking the chance.

Offering Eric Gray and ‘25 2nd for Steele and ‘25 3rd

He owns Singletary is one of the reasons. He’s countered saying change it to a 4th instead of a 3rd. I think it’s too steep tbh for someone who was a UDFA and could easily be done by next week

Is the “Dart throw” (late?) 3rd any different than the wild “eyes closed” 4th?

Ingram promoted to the active roster while Hunt is put on the PR.

I think I like Ingram better than Steele as a runner and possible option in this offense. Steele plays STs which is why he was active each week.

i'd take Ingram as the flyer for this week to see what happens. Hunt likely needs some time too get up to NFL speed.
Would Ingram assume the ST role while Steele gets more carries??
That would be a fair guess on my part but I know nothing
I don't think Ingram is a strong STs guy. If he is elevated to the roster it would be too take some carries while Steele plays STs. Steele is a better STs player than Ingram.

Honestly I would probably target Singletary to see what the cost is there if he thinks he has a starter in Steele.

Good point !

For reference:

Steele went for 7.5% FAAB last night (other bids 2.5% and 0.5%) in my main non-dynasty keeper league. Perine and Hunt both went unclaimed, but both picked up for free today.

Seems like nobody has any faith in the KC RBs and likely assume it’s going to be a RBBC mess.

For me personally I bid 0.5% on Steele. I’m pretty loaded at RB and don’t want the headache.

I would rather start a 20+ touch guy on a lesser offense then pray one of these KC RBs gets maybe 10 better quality touches on a top offense.

I’m a hold in dynasty, because there’s a greater than zero chance that Steele carves out a decent role (though likely only until Pacheco returns)

But I’m with you - I’d start Ty Chandler or Chuba over him pretty easily since we won’t know until it happens. So if we figure Pacheco misses 7 weeks, that’s 6 potentially useful weeks out of a RBBC guy. Because I’m all but certain Perine will get the receptions, and Hunt will also get touches.

I wouldn’t pay much for that.

Someone just offered me Njigba for Steele. Umm yes please.
This is absurd

I put Steele on the block in a 16 team dynasty league and haven’t had a single sniff.

I think that's obviously a redraft. Right???
Sure, but it makes it no less absurd.

Steele had a couple big preseason runs. He also averaged 3 YPC with a FL against real NFL players.

And he’s a short term replacement and likely part of a committee - I’m shocked anyone would pay JSN for that, especially after JSN had a big game.

Depends on need for each team. If I had JSN as my WR5 in a start 2 WR league, with Pacheco as my RB1 or 2 and tumbleweeds behind him, damn right I'd give up JSN right now before a potential breakout game this weekend by Steele, which would skyrocket his price. Context is everything in these stated deals, yet rarely disclosed.

Oh for sure. But IMO most teams in 12 team redraft have a RB3 on their roster already who’s likely to be more predictable and productive than Steele.

Add to that the short term value of Steele, and I’m not sure context really does matter in this one.

In general though, I agree with that point.

If you had JSN as your WR5 and put him on your leagues trade block you'd be able to get a better RB than Steele

Yeah, exactly.

I got Steele, Perine was owned, Hunt was picked up. I’m going to try and acquire and handcuff all 3. If I can handle the roster stress for a few weeks, I’ll cut bait when it’s obvious. Owning the KC running game is a good thing. 17 man roster in 10 team league.

I'll gladly come and eat crow if I'm wrong but this should be Steele and its not close. Reid trusted Steele with the game on the line and he got 7 carries to 0 for Perine. Perine has been in the league for what 5-6 years? I'm not buying they didn't use him because he's only been on the team for a few weeks. If he can't handle a few runs after being in the league that long he has no business playing in the NFL. Steele got the carries because he's the far better RB...he can move the pile and runs with intensity Perine has never shown.
I have to agree. Perine is 29 years old. if he was gonna break out, it would have happened by now. I dont think the Chiefs will go in this direction.

I think Steele gets early down work and goal line/short yardage work, and Perine gets the 3rd down work and likely plays in the hurry up offense. this is a timeshare as Steele isnt a great pass catching back (unless there is a skillset there I've not seen yet)

I do think that Kareem Hunt complicates matters some but I think hes just a better version of perine. but its at least a week or two until he learns enough of the playbook to be activiated. in the interim, its Steeles show. if the Steele/perine combo doesnt work, I could see the team giving Hunt a shot. But at this point it is their jobs to lose.

In keeper/dynasty, yes. In redraft, I'm not so sure, especially if we are talking upside for a Pacheco owner.

I always thought he might simmer for a bit before breaking out, like Stephan Davis (another big back drafted by Washington), but 29 would be crazy.

Not my experience in dynasty leagues. Noone is giving up a guy they picked at 1.4 last year, who has shown some flashes, for a guy I picked up for free in the preseason who MIGHT be good.

Guys in my leagues would rather punt a position and hope for a higher draft pick than make a speculative move based on positional need only.

💯 meant redraft. I should have clarified that.

I do think for redraft one could obtain a better/less risky floor RB for JSN.

A Najee or Warren, maybe a Javonte type.

I don’t see their ceilings as much lower than Steele if at all, and they’re a known commodity.

They have *much* higher floors, but very much disagree with the similar ceilings. It's nowhere close IMO.

Nowhere close to Steele? With Perine, Hunt and in 7-8 weeks Pacheco in the mix?

I don’t see Steele’s ceiling as being particularly high I guess.

no. its not super high.

but i think his floor is decent.

depending on matchup he is likely good for 50-80 yards and possibly a TD.

I've watched a fair bit of tape on him. He reminds me of Brandon Jacobs from the Giants way back when. big, tall, physical guy. not super fast, but tough to bring down.

he looks like hes good at following his blocks. and hes super tall and nearly always falls forward. so even if he only gets two yards, he will fall forward for one or two more. He has a straight arm that reminds me of Henry. obviously hes not as fast as Henry but behind a good line, that is not as important. He WILL wear down a defense.

what he wont do is catch passes. (unless there is a skillset here I have not seen)

I dont know how well he blocks, but as a big guy I suspect that part is at least okay. hes big enough to be a lineman.

as a Pacheco owner if he can plug in and get 50 yards and a TD (or 70 yards with no TD) hes good enough to hold the fort until Pacheco gets back. Hes not gonna light the world on fire. but he could be a TD machine at the goal line if Reid lets him.

I think he maxes out at a low end RB2 if the matchup is right. but more likely hes a high end RB3 until Pacheco returns or he loses his job to Hunt.

He’s no Jordan Mason that’s for sure!
