It would be interesting to see. I don't think Wisconsin democrats have given him much of a fight. On a national level, he'd probably face criticism on his education and experience - he's a college drop-out with essentially zero work experience outside of politics. He has been a politician since his mid-20's His only employment as an adult outside of political office was selling IBM warranties and fund-raising for the Red Cross.

Live in Western Wisconsin so my opinion maybe skewed due to very limited news coverage of Wisconsin news here but...Not sure if you are from Wisconsin, but the reason nobody else would run was because the few Democrats with any credibility (Feingold, Kind) knew they had no chance of beating him. All other Dem pols in Wisconsin are certified buffoons. They have as weak a bench as I have ever seen. Even when Johnson is up, unless Kind takes him on, I fail to see who they will put up that will not look like a fool. Plus Walker at the head of the presidential ticket will not help matters for the dems.I do think so..
There are many independents that are looking for someone to vote for.. The majority have supported Walker the past 3 elections because of the candidate the Democrats put up made you think "What the Hell are they thinking??"
first it was a failed candidate in Barrett( twice) and now Burke.. hmmmmm. maybe the voters in Wisconsin just don't like those with a "B" last name
I do think that if the Democrats stopped running "has been" failed candidates ( Barrett Twice) or those tied to what many Wisconsinites consider a failed Administration( Doyle/Burke) then they would have a chance to bring in the independent voters and make it a closer race then the 6 to 7% difference that Walker has won by 3 times now.
As for Walker as the Presidential Nominee.. I'd give it less then 25% chance.. I think Paul Ryan has a better shot then him when it comes to nominees from Wisconsin..

Scott Walker Responds to Letter Regarding Menorah: Thank You and Molotov
While gearing up for a potential 2016 presidential run, Republican Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has been forced to acquaint himself with donor bases whose cultures he's not exactly familiar with. Like Judaism, for example!
Madison.com reports that Walker, the son of a Baptist preacher, courted Jewish donors last spring at the Republican Jewish Coalition spring meeting in Las Vegas. But unfortunately for Walker, all this newfound "common ground with the Jewish faith" is dredging up old memories of a time when he wasn't so familiar with the commonalities of monotheistic religions.
One Wisconsin Now dug up an undated letter that Walker sent in response to chairman Franklyn Gimbel's request that he display a menorah during the holiday season:
Walker told Gimbel his office would be happy to display a menorah celebrating "The Eight Days of Chanukah" at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, and asked Gimbel to have a representative from Lubavitch of Wisconsin contact Walker's secretary, Dorothy Moore, to set it up.
The letter is signed, "Thank you again and Molotov."

He had little to no choice to turn it down due to the Compacts. Unless the Potowotomi were willing to budge, I don't think they were, then he had no say in the matter. Conservatives that are "lighting" him up just don't want to realize this. Walker tried to work the diplomatic way about this, rightfully so, but this was pretty much dead on arrival.
Belling needs to grow up about some things and direct his anger where it needs to go.

Yeah, Doyle gave away the farm in order to buy votes for him and his Democrat cronies. He and the Democrats sold WI out with these deals and screwed us, just like he tried to screw WI on the Talgo choo-choo trains.
This is all on the Democrats.

I understand that and agree. But blaming Doyle is getting old, he blames Doyle for Wisconsin's problems as much as Obama blames Bush. I'm getting sick of it. Just make it right and do the right thing.
Are you kidding? Say he got enough duck dynastiers to get him through the primary, its him vs Clinton,, all they have to do is get a % of signatures, they wouldn't even need to run a candidate per se.

Um, do you understand how Compacts work? Walker's hands are tied unless the Potowotami is willing to agree to new terms of some kind. Precedents have been set and are "in stone". The Governor just can't break them. The court's would overturn anything any Governor does in regards to this unless the Pot are willing to rework the deal.
Can't blame Walker. I'm more worried about this dumb trolley in Milwaukee. The train idea from Milwaukee to Madison to Minneapolis, I can understand and would be in favor of something... but this trolley is just stupid.

Yes, they first and foremost make their money by way of quality of their art and personally I like my artists as radical as they can get. Its really hard for me to picture Scott Walker rocking out to Shipping up to Boston. The lyrics are more or less meaningless, but I've always thought of it as a sort of Irish hooligan/punk theme. I wonder why on earth his people chose it for this event?

The "Doyle tied my hands with the Potawatomi compact" is a cop-out. He was never going to approve it, hence the reason he waited until after the election.
He pandered to the Religious Right and used the Doyle compact excuse.

If your answer is that you will still vote for him, then this issue doesn't hurt him at all. I'd be willing to bet no more than .5% of the people would change their vote on this one issue.
And, the Compact is not an excuse at all. It is what it is. Blame Doyle and blame Potowotomi for not wanting more jobs in the state. The people of Wisconsin would have lost money in this deal so if Walker can spin this issue that way, it can be a win for him. I'd look at something else to go in the Kenosha/Racine area that can bring Illinois money into Wisconsin. What might that be? I don't know off the top of my head but there are many other alternatives.

I don't think he has a chance to win the nomination and I don't want him to.. Is to much like Obama, except from the right.. Many will Love him and many will hate him and there will be very few in between.

I can't think of many alternatives for the large amount of property where the dog track resides, please not another mall. If the compact is the main stop-gap why wait so long to announce you do not support it? I know Iowa Conservatives wrote a petition to Walker signed by 600 Conservatives basically informing him it would be in his best interest to not support the casino if he has aspirations of becoming the presidential nominee for the Iowa Caucaus. I find it interesting that he announced he was against the casino then a day or two later he is speaking to the Iowa GOP and we hear how great his speech was.Mario Kart said:

If I can interject (admittedly this is a WI issue)...
...I come from one of the first states (I think) to gin up the casino idea and personally I think they're terrible for everyone. Maybe states and communities need to come up with ideas that generate real business and not massive gambling halls where people drain away their assets and time.
Create something, build something, reinvigorate the main street or downtown, whatever the case, but find the best in a community and do that.

Agreed, unfortunately the state "sold its soul" for the gambling dollar years ago, building 5 dog tracks as well as casinos throughout the state. Now it is a where do we go from here, we have this large property just sitting there with only one use as it stands. To convert this into something else will need significant amount of money, some if which will end up being state and local tax benefits to build. This was a great opportunity to put vacant land to good use. My understanding is now that this casino is not going through one will be built accross the border in Illinois.
Again I am disappointed in the timing of the announcement, just before his big Iowa speech for his forthcoming preidential run.
