SEA: Quietest 9-1 team in history? (1 Viewer)

Ignoratio Elenchi said:
Complete frauds. They've beaten a bunch of garbage and lost to the one decent team they faced. They'll be one of the easiest outs in the playoffs.
I don't think they are frauds but who exactly has Denver beat? What about Kansas City?

I don't know if I could feel worse about a 9-1 team. They haven't looked terribly impressive in a few of their wins, and their schedule hasn't been overly tough. However, it's a long season, and we can't very well assume that the worst the team has played is what they are (falling behind at home against TB) and we can't very well assume that the best they've played is what they are (utter demolition of SF)

They have a defense that can play with the best of them, a heck of a running game, and a QB with what seems to be a penchant to win games late. They have to be considered the front runners for HFA in the NFC right now, and they've got a great one.

They could win it all. They could lose any time they suit it up. Nothing is a lock, and as much as people want to say they know what's going to happen, none of us do, and we're just going to have to watch the game. If the Seahawks play as well as they could, they'll probably win it all. Just like you could say for a few teams. They're definitely in that top tier, but they've still got to show up and win games in January.

I don't know if I could feel worse about a 9-1 team.
I understand this feeling.

How would you compare this group to the 2005 team? This year it just feels like they expect to go out and win all the time. I think the 2005 team had a bit of that, but real difference for me is Wilson. I don't know that I ever believed in Hasselbeck like I do Wilson.

In 2005, there was one thing they could seemingly do against anybody at any point in time - run the ball to the left. This year's Seahawks team is running the ball about as well, it seems, but it just doesn't look that way watching the games.

A part of that may be expectations. Right now, it's hard to be too excited about the wins because they're expected. Any loss is a bad day. Any win is, well, just what they were supposed to do. That being said, I will be legitimately excited if they win vs NO or @SF.

I think the second half of last year sort of ruined me a little bit.

Seattle is a playoff caliber team. They lead their division for now. Cant wait for the Saints to play them because even though they have had ZERO success beyond a playoff win here or there they seem to have some very very cocky fans judging by the few Seahawk threads going on this board. Guess what? regular season doesn't mean jack. The weakness of your team will be exposed eventually because it is too obvious to me that your Oline is going to be a problem for you if you ever get behind in a game against a team that has an aggressive defense that can get to the QB and seal the outsides. Leaning on the defense for this deficiency will only get you so far IMO.

I think Seattle is more balanced than any of these teams.
you watching snf, saints can run and pass
Sure-against a pathetic, depleted Dallas defense. Lets see what happens the next 5 weeks. Something tells me the holes won't be as wide open.
You are delusional, The Saints are getting play makers healthy. It is not all because of Dallas.

Still waiting for someone to name all of these cocky fans. We've got ITS, who is like the drunk uncle that embarrasses you every single Thanksgiving, Sweeney is a bit abrasive but usually pretty realistic, and a whole bunch of coffee drinking Seattle fans who are nibbling their fingernails waiting for this to go wrong like everything else in our sports history since 1979 has.

Go to any Seahawks thread. The people complaining about Seahawks fans far outnumber the Seahawks fans they're actually complaining about.

Makes sense. You should have a better sense of where your expectations should be in a few weeks. I think dealing with Jimmy Graham will be an adventure. Curious to see how they game play for him. Hopefully both teams are full strength for that Monday night game. I think that game will determine HFA for the playoffs.

I believe that would not be cool call out posters but you will find them in the Seattle / Broncos Superbowl thread. Even the Thread title is what I'd call cocky.

Right. You can't name anybody either. Just like everyone else who levels this criticism.

The guy who started that thread isn't a Seattle fan. He roots for the Vikings. Not sure why you're using him to paint us as cocky.

Anyway I do feel the Seahawks represent one of the biggest challenges to the the Saints besides the Panthers. They do have weaknesses that can be exploited but then again so do the Saints. Game planning and turnovers will mean everything when our two teams meet. If we don't beat the Seahawks in regular season we will likely have to return there in the playoffs so we might as well go all out now.

Agree in reverse. I'm quite happy that game is @SEA. The Saints are very good, and the fact that they lost to the Jets just really underscores how hard it is to win in the NFL every week.

I'll probably be rooting for San Francisco next week, and that's saying something. Take it as a compliment. I'd much rather the 'hawks play the Saints in Seattle come playoff time if they both make it far enough.

Do you really want me to name them? One has already been mentioned, then another that rubs me wrong is the mad scientist. Anyway nothing to gain by naming them. I just am pointing out that there are not so many of these types of threads going for the other teams. You have 1 more win than the Saints so does your team need numerous hey look at me threads?

In the case of most of them it's "hey look at them" threads or ITS (scientist.)

In fact, there are two threads on my first page of replies (I'm in most all of these threads) that were started by Seahawks fans other than ITS. This one, which doesn't seem cocky to me at all, and one on Sherman started by Hooper who started it only so people wouldn't keep responding to a stupid thread started by ITS.

The entire FBG narrative that Seahawks fans are obnixious really revolves around one guy. All I'd like is for people to say "hey, you know, that's a good point, maybe you guys aren't all obnoxious pricks"

As is Seattle, who still has a bye coming up in which to get healthier (including one of the biggest playmakers in the league. So they're similar, except Seattle didn't lose to the Jets.

The other cocky poster just showed up. You do realize the Saints were coming off a brutal game against the Pats, had a short week because of a thursday night game and Colston, Sproles, Graham were banged up? You came very close to getting upset by the Rams backup QB in a very low scoring affair . The Saints have looked more impressive in their 2 loses than the hawks have looked in several games this year. I watched you get lucky in both the Texans and Rams wins. That luck will run out eventually.

Isn't he just doing the exact same thing you're doing about the Saints? You talk them up as much as he talks the Seahawks up. Yet you deride him as "cocky."

By that definition, every fan of a good team is "cocky" because they realize their team is good. The Saints are good. That doesn't make you cocky. The Seahawks are good. That doesn't make Sweeney cocky. But even if it does, just realize that you are what you dislike about Sweeney.

I guess losing two All Pro OL and a third starter plus Sidney Rice mean nothing, but the Saints had some hangnails so that explains losing to a rookie QB on a joke of a team.

BTW, that Rams backup QB just beat the snot out of a team that's beaten 3 top teams. But that doesn't matter of course. Excuses only matter for Saints losses to bottom feeder teams.

Why are you spreading this misinformation in multiple threads?

And by misinformation, I mean lies, wrong facts, etc.

Barely pulling off wins against terrible teams. I think they're more mediocre than quiet. Like the Pats earlier this season, their W/L is deceptive.

My guess is he's had a few drinks and will regret all of this in the am. It's certainly happened to me.

Are you out because I made fun of your "injuries count for the Saints but not for other teams" defense, or because someone pointed out that the Saints had a bye after the NE game and what's more, they stomped the Bills the week after that. I'm guessing it's becaue you're not man enough to admit being wrong so you fake indignation to avoid having to own up to being full of crap.

I think the second half of last year sort of ruined me a little bit.
Ruined? How so?
Expectations. It's not enough to just get a win anymore. I feel like every win that isn't utterly dominant is a loss. Which probably leads to me feeling worse about the team than I should.
It could be this for me. Or the fact that this is the only time I've watched every game of a 9-1 season. It hasn't been as impressive to me as the great Colt/Patriot teams were but I only saw sportscenter highlights of them so of course they're going to seem invincible.

Quitting while you are behind is a better strategy than just keeping on, so for that I applaud him.

Go to any Seahawks thread. The people complaining about Seahawks fans far outnumber the Seahawks fans they're actually complaining about.

Most of them are started by non-Seattle fans. Also, Seattle has 2 more wins than the Saints, though I believe they've played one more game, but then again, they didn't lose to the Jets.
I can still think of three of them that are really annoying that haven't posted here yet.

I'd rather my team play the Seahawks than the Saints/Broncos/49ers in the playoffs/superbowl.
We will find out soon enough with their upcoming schedule. Before Dallas, 4 out of their last 5 games they've had less than 100 yards rushing and a YPC hovering around 3.0. This is not a running team and the Dallas game was a facade IMO.

I don't think of them as quiet because they are squarely on everyone's radar and have been for a while.

THe Carolina Panther better fit the bill, to me, of a really good team that no one seems to be noticing.

Complete frauds. They've beaten a bunch of garbage and lost to the one decent team they faced. They'll be one of the easiest outs in the playoffs.
There is truth to this, but the season opening @ Carolina win is looking more and more impressive, and they did trounce SF (albeit at home). Of course, those are the kinds of things a relatively unproven team would point to. There really is no excuse for allowing Zac Stacy and Mike James to run all over them.
Not really....the Carolina team they played in week 1 is not the team that just man handled the 49ers. There's been so much growth/change in that Carolina team it's ridiculous. Seattle beat a very bad Carolina team at the beginning of the year.

This topic is a decent question. I think I'll go discuss it in the Seattle thread. It surely doesn't need a brand new thread dripping in hyperbole (did you really consider every team in the history of the NFL?).

The Seahawks have added Bruce Irvin, Chris Clemmons, a healthy Cliff Avril and will add Percy Harvin in a week or two. Not to mention they will have back 3 of their 5 starting offensive linemen back that they don't currently have. Cam doesn't have the mental strength to go into Seattle and win. Better luck next year.

Seattle with home field advantage is a nightmare for the nfc.
This is really it.

Seattle with home field advantage is a big deal. It almost doesn't matter how good or "quiet" they are.

Seattle is more or less a game up on the Saints, they will beat MIN then bye.

Both NO & SEA have not lost in the NFC. Both are great at home.

SEA has two big games left, vs NO & @SF. Maybe the Giants in NJ poses a problem, dunno. The Saints still have a very tough schedule ahead, including of course SEA, but also SF, CARx2, @ATL on TNF.

Things seem stacked really well for the Hawks right now, only caveat is if the Saints get past SF & ATL and then steal one in the Hawks' home.

Seahawks have the most wins on the road in the NFL right now.

I wish people would stop spewing the media's junk.

Yes, and they lost one on the road to Indy and they have a bye coming up. Games like @ StL and @ HOU aren't exactly some of the toughest places to play. So let's get past that. The Hawks' strength is at home and they have a major advantage there in the playoffs, no secret there.

The hawks win everywhere. Home just gives them a noise advantage.

@NYJ is?

@Stl and @Hou wins > @NYJ loss.

:lmao: Willful ignorance must really be bliss eh?? Aside from that, your post has EXACTLY ZERO to do with anything I posted. Take your crappy fishing expedition elsewhere

Yes the Jets at home are 4-1, including a win vs the Pats.

The Rams & Texans are a combined 3-6.

So, yes, losing there by a FG more or less (considering Hartley missed one) is no great shame.

Neither is losing at Indy either, by the way. Seattle was very good last year too and they lost on the road in Atlanta. But I think we know where this is going, two very good to great teams that will be vying for HFA. I said I give the Hawks the advantage right now, certainly not criticizing them.
