Seahawks Michael Bennett threatened by police (1 Viewer)

The thrust of his "post" was his complaint about excessive force. The media ran with the profiling although it was only a somewhat minor part of his complaint.
Wrong.  "Lave Vegas Police singled me out and pointed their guns at me for doing nothing more than simply being a black man."  Later he says, "when you are seen as a n####r you will be treated that way."

Why do you guys just make stuff up?

Also this is a lie.  He didn't leave this part out at all.  He literally said he "ran away from the sound." Why are you lying about what he said?
I stand corrected.  Although the timing is waaaay off.  Police were called at the sound, he ran after the police got there.

Huh?

You have made two unfounded assumptions.  You claim he was fleeing the cops- you can't possibly know that (and you can't reconcile it with all the other people who were fleeing the same area, something you still haven't addressed).  And you claim to know how they would have reacted if a white person did exactly what Bennett did- you can't possibly know that either.

They're your assumptions, the onus is on you to back them up, not me.  I've made no assumptions.  I don't know why he fled. I don't know why he was singled out. I don't know if the police would have reacted identically if he were white. I've watched multiple videos, none justifies your assumptions.
It's on video.  He ran away from the police and the police chased him and caught him.    Fact.

Cops looking for a shooter will chase someone if they flee from them.  While not necessarily a fact, a pretty valid assumption.

And you're always full of hot air so I don't care what you think anyway.

I just caught you in a lie two minutes ago, but sure.  I'm the one full of hot air.  Not the guy who thinks he can understand a persons internal motivation for fleeing from a video and who still has no explanation for why all the other people were also fleeing. Not the guy who thinks he can speak definitively about the state of mind of police from watching a video.

Have a good weekend, man.  Hope your fantasy teams fare better than you are in this thread :hifive:

No.

I stood corrected.  Mistaken, not a lie.  I'll gladly admit when I'm wrong.  Something you're incapable of.

All the reasons I suspect Bennett ran are my own and just my guess, I've tried to be consistent on saying that throughout the thread.  Fact is he did run, away from the police.

Definitive isn't the correct word for my interpretations of the police either.  I used valid assumption.  Still an assumption however.

Sigh.

And enough with the insults.  I don't mind them, but it makes you look childish in addition to wrong. I've got no problem with you but if you've got a problem with me the ignore button is right up top there.

:lmao:   lol at deleting and then reposing.  At least you're starting to think about what you write.  Good choice because it was awful.

I'm assuming you bolded some things because you don't understand?  The reasons why he ran, that I've made several posts about, are my own guesses.  Fact is he ran.  Are you disputing that he ran away from the police?

I don't blame Bennett for running. I don't blame the cops for chasing. I don't blame the cops for the amount of force they used.

I do blame Bennett for turning this into something that it was not. He ran during an intense situation and was detained for 10 minutes.

No need to write about it.
Victimized!!!

I deleted it because I'd accidentally removed the quote highlighting your obvious contradiction (admitting it was opinion and then stating it as fact) so I went back and included it. You're making a habit of unfounded assumptions about the motivations of strangers, huh?

Yes, I am disputing your conclusion that he was running from the police.  I have no idea why he was running and neither do you.

I read the whole thing before it got deleted.  Who's lying now.  Dear god.    :lmao:

I'm not lying.  That's why I deleted it.  The quote wasn't there.  I went back and wrote a new post with the quote.

You wanna keep making unfounded assumptions and ad hominem attacks to defend your previous unfounded assumptions and ad hominem attacks, go for it. I'm pretty comfortable with my side of our discussion. Have a good weekend.

Yes.

link?
Sorry, I'll ignore Tobias so I might help answer a genuine question.

The alleged shots were from inside Drai's Night Club yes?

Bennett was "arrested" just outside Drai's Nigh Club yes?

Not 100% sure from the video but it looks like the go into the club, past the velvet ropes where they first see Bennett.

Yesterday I linked to an article from USA Today where LVPD are reviewing video where Bennett may have been in an altercation inside Drai's Night Club just prior to the  alleged shots.

NFL players like to go to clubs yes?

What would you do in Vegas right after the fight if you were Bennett?

:lmao:

uh, Drai's is a rooftop bar / beach club. He was arrested down on the street.

assumptions are tricky things

I suppose we could assume he was in the after hours club in the basement, but we'd also then have to assume Bennett is dumb enough to go to an "after hours" club at 1am in Vegas.

:lmao:

As an aside, I could see this scenario:

Bennett gets into a scuffle in the club, topples the statue (the source of the noise that's confused for gunfire), the crowd panics, he panics and flees, cops are called, he somehow gets an elevator down to the casino floor, sees the cops coming and freaks out, jumps the wall no runs into the street.

but, why in the hell would he go public with it, blame the cops, and draw attention AFTER they let him go w/o any ramifications? If he was worried enough to run (self preservation) you would think he'd be worried enough to just let it go.

ya, this assumption stuff IS fun!

If they're investigating something at Drai's it probably doesn't have anything directly to do with what happened in that club.

I think they're using that name interchangeably, but not worth it anymore, anything these guys can hang on to in hopes Bennett isn't going to become the fool he already has for this.

LVPD hasn't exactly acquitted itself admirably here either.  No winners so far.

In before Tobias drops a WHATABOUTISM on you
I'm not sure it's whataboutism to say that in this particular instance both Michael Bennett and the LVPD sent letters public that they should likely be embarrassed about, and it affects my ability to decide who's "right" here.

The police letter was from the Union, not the department, not sure I'd hold that against these particular officers.

You have no idea what it is like to be black in this country.  It's about time white people start to feel uncomfortable about racial issues.  The groups will never "come together" as long as white people keep their heads in the sand about what it is like to live in this country as a person of color.
especially Mexican Policeman
