Seahawks Michael Bennett threatened by police (1 Viewer)

In what way does this affect the source material therein?
I have no idea because I'm not going to read it. I just found it funny that Henry would passively aggressively let a woman argue his point for him when I was referencing beta males.

How did they announce themselves when they arrived?

What would your reaction be if you were minding your own business and police burst into a casino, guns drawn? Is it illegal to remove yourself from a situation like that?
Well, for one, my reaction isn't to hide behind something and then when the police arrive bolt away from them.  I was raised to not run away from police when they are searching for a shooter.  I guess Bennett's parents taught him to run.  I'll leave it to you which is the better option.

And as we pointed out, the term "beta male" is outdated, inaccurate, and typically used by men who themselves would be "betas"...if there were such a thing.

Considering the trend of police shooting unarmed black men, I'd say running might be better.

what does the video show, in your opinion?
They enter the club at about 0:27 past the red ropes, from then on order every one down (no body is running/leaving at that point) they are looking for the suspect.  At 1:02 one of them appears to see someone hiding pointing out Bennett.  Bennett decides to take off and they pursue him.

Many reasons why he may have done that, if I'm in that situation I'm face down with my hands behind my head.

Even if you interpret the running differently than me you going to have a hard sell that they singled him out because he was black.

Yes.  Running from the cops.
This is a completely unfounded assumption.  You have no idea why he or any of the other people that fled the scene were doing so, and neither do we.

This is the wrong question.  The question is whether a white person in an identical situation would have been treated identically. If not, that's racial bias.  And again, none of us has any way to know the answer to this.

You aren't following along with your first sentence.

You can't honestly say the police wouldn't chase a white guy if he fled exactly like Bennett did.  Of course they would.  Regardless, Bennett's claim is that he was singled out because he was black period.  He completely left out the running away part, I'm guessing on purpose.

where exactly is this? I don't see it in your video.

this one?

There are people running / hiding / ducking EVERYWHERE. It's chaos. I can understand the cops making a mistake. I really don't get blaming Bennett, however.
I don't blame Bennett for running. I don't blame the cops for chasing. I don't blame the cops for the amount of force they used.

I do blame Bennett for turning this into something that it was not. He ran during an intense situation and was detained for 10 minutes.

No need to write about it.

Did you see the video where the cops told people inside to get out?
no. of course not. He also didn't see the people running all over the place.

I wonder if a 5'3" 80 year old black guy would have gotten pinned to the ground and cuffed "if he fled exactly like Bennett did." (whatever that means)

I would imagine race was just one component. Maybe his phsyical presence, age, and general appearance are others. We probably will never know exactly. And we shouldn't pretend to know.

The thrust of his "post" was his complaint about excessive force. The media ran with the profiling although it was only a somewhat minor part of his complaint.

You can't honestly say the police wouldn't chance a white guy if he fled exactly like Bennett did.  Of course they would.  Regardless, Bennett's claim is that he was singled out because he was black period.  He completely left out the running away part, I'm guessing on purpose.
Huh?

You have made two unfounded assumptions.  You claim he was fleeing the cops- you can't possibly know that (and you can't reconcile it with all the other people who were fleeing the same area, something you still haven't addressed).  And you claim to know how they would have reacted if a white person did exactly what Bennett did- you can't possibly know that either.

They're your assumptions, the onus is on you to back them up, not me.  I've made no assumptions.  I don't know why he fled. I don't know why he was singled out. I don't know if the police would have reacted identically if he were white. I've watched multiple videos, none justifies your assumptions.

Not for these guys

Also this is a lie.  He didn't leave this part out at all.  He literally said he "ran away from the sound." Why are you lying about what he said?
