Should CJ Stroud Be The #1 Ranked QB In Dynasty? (2 Viewers)

Where do you rank Stroud among QBs for Dynasty Drafts this year?

Still behind several others for me. QB6 or worse was my vote.

Mahomes
Jackson
Hurts
Allen
Burrow
These 5 are not necessarily in an order.

Herbert/Murray/Richardson/Stroud all in a messy pile behind that top 5 for me. If I were drafting for an NFL team I'd had Stroud in that top 5 for sure. For fantasy, not for me, not yet anyway.

Allen, burrow, mahomes are the only 3 I'd lump with him.
This is where I’m at too, with the caveat that I think all 3 of them are clearly ahead of Stroud.

IMO he’s clearly ahead of Hurts and Lamar (neither of who is a great passer, both of whom could break down physically as runners at some point).

Herbert and Richardson are the interesting ones to me. They both should slot near Stroud IMO.

I might be missing the boat but I don’t have Richardson close to Stroud now. Upside is certainly there.

I'd have Stroud 5th. I'm still taking Lamar and Hurts over him. Just so much more upside, even if they may have shorter shelf lives. Allen/Mahomes are easy calls I think.

Burrow is a tough call, but I think until I lean Stroud, due to youth and division. Can see the case for Burrow though. Deep sleeper I think is Jordan Love, as long as LaFleur is in GB, the TDs will be there. Can't put him above Stroud right now, but I think he arguably has a higher ceiling.

I'm not as worried about age for QBs unless they get a large percentage of points from rushing. So Stroud being 22 vs Burrow being 27 isn't as important to me as having a long track record and being tied to the best/2nd young WR in the game. It's not like anyone is going to care about burrows age for at least 5-6 outside of multiple serious injuries.

Surprised so many would have Burrow ahead of him. There’s zero chance I’m adding anything to Stroud to “up-tier” to Burrow, and personally I’d have Stroud comfortably ahead at this point.

I need to see Stroud do a bit more, for a bit longer, to put him ahead of Burrow. But I definitely get why you have Stroud ahead.

My only concern with Stroud is he has a great defensive-minded HC who IMO is very likely to turn that defense into a powerhouse.

If/when that happens, I’d expect less passing stats - not like he’s gonna turn into Dilfer II, but might could take a step back from the FF glory of 2023.

Stroud is my QB1 for dynasty. I bet he will score the most fantasy points of any QB in the league for the rest of their career by a huge number. I'm expecting to start him for the next 15+ years.

What are we thinking these days?
He’s definitely behind Allen, Lamar, Daniels, Hurts, Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert.

I guess he’s in the Baker, Purdy, Love, Nix range.
I have him well below Baker, Purdy, Love.

Maybe he’s there with Maye & Nix.
Kind of why I said I guess. I’m pretty reluctantly putting him there. If you wanted to move him down with Caleb, JJ and Penix, I wouldn’t fault you either.

What a value drop in the span of a year. Not sure if it’s the league getting enough film on him to figure him out, skill position injuries around him, OL weakness, or some combination of all three, but clearly as we stand, he’s not the rising star talent we thought he was.

When I looked back at his rookie year stats heading into this season, I was kinda surprised by how underwhelming they were, given my memory of the hype of that rookie season. I mean they were good for a rook, but not earth-shattering like what we saw from JD last season. And year 2 was a hot mess. Trend is no friend right now for this dude.

Thread title did not age well at all. I don't play dynasty, but is Stroud even top ten at this point?
No.

But, a couple years back, I think it was a valid question. I remember trading him early in the season in a keeper league* and kicking myself all year for doing it. I had Lamar Jackson and got to keep him thankfully, but I recall thinking if I had kept Stroud that it would have been a genuine question.

*Superflex league with the interesting caveat that you are limited to one QB keep only.

Bad coaching and lousy OL play have hindered his own play... Stroud is still a pretty good QB, but he can't overcome some variables the way guys like Allen, Mahomes, or Jackson can. He needs more things to be right and better overall execution of the offense as a whole.

Watching Chicago and Minnesota the other night, I couldn't help but wonder how Stroud would look with one of those head coaches. I love DeMeco, but his offensive coaches have left a lot to be desired. The jury is out on Caley, but Week one was a hot mess.
