Undoubtedly I'm in the minority, but were I stranded on a desert island - give me the Frank Black body of work over The Pixies 9 times out of 10.
Nice dig. I totally missed this. That voice sounds earily similar to Tanita Tikarum's, who I adore like no other (that she bore a strong resemblance to Phoebe Cates in her early years matters).Have never heard this. Really great.Hi it's me again. I can't get enough of this. This song. This video. The bittersweet nostalgia/melancholy feeling it invokes in me. The way she looks at me at 1:01.
This song is so good. Should have been top 300.
I'm gonna have to go full rebuttal on Cracker. Probably more that any other band in the 90s, these are the guys I related to the most. I like Low, but it probably does not crack my top 20 Cracker songs. Before I even go dig up some youtubes, I'm going to limit myself to four songs I like more (five, if ou want to seek out the obligatory Eurotrash Girl)Time to clear out the queue a bit.
I had a bunch of leftover songs after I hit my initial 1000. From that point on I have been more stringent about what I'm adding. My new threshold is thinking about sitting on my patio late at night with a beer and a fire, if the song comes on would I want to listen to it?
The following just make that cut.
1110. Cracker - Low
Since you reduced the thread count to 1200 I thought I'd perform a quality control check.862. Jefferson Starship - Miracles
Jefferson Starship...not as good as Jefferson Airplane but way better than Starship.
Love these new songs I left in there and the new threshold, especially. Well done.Time to clear out the queue a bit.

1118. The Fixx - One Thing Leads to Another
1119. Von Bondies - C'mon C'mon
I'm not sure I've ever heard those. I've never listened to a Cracker album. That stuff is decent. For some of these artists, I didn't put in the effort to seek out other stuff they did.I'm gonna have to go full rebuttal on Cracker. Cracker, Lloyd Cole, and Cavin Russell are probably my top three where I'm inclined to harrumph and be outspoken.
Could come up with 50 different songs if given a few months.
- What the World Needs Now - was kind of a game changer for me back in 91. Along with Nirvana and Social Distortion, the rock guitar was back.
- Big Dipper
- Something You Ain't Got - probably my favorite
- Ain't that Strange
ETA: Sory, beer.
It's all time and place, and circumstance. I spent a lot of time on the road in the 90s listening to CDs and making treks to visit my kids post-divorce. It was Bittersweet.I'm not sure I've ever heard those. I've never listened to a Cracker album. That stuff is decent. For some of these artists, I didn't put in the effort to seek out other stuff they did.
Missed some great chances here, though. "Ring My Bell," "Malibu," "Welcome To The Black Parade," and "Let's Go Surfing" are all way up there in my book. The following just can't get there. So while I while I like or appreciate these songs at some level, my desire to continue to listen to them has dwindled.

From Camper Van Beethoven to Cracker, it’s all good imo.I'm not sure I've ever heard those. I've never listened to a Cracker album. That stuff is decent. For some of these artists, I didn't put in the effort to seek out other stuff they did.
Holy smoke. That is Rachel Leigh Cook. Or at least looks very much like the early version of her. What a show! A ribbed t-shirt for whose pleasure? Is that Rachel Leigh Cook? She’s got some energy.
Lots of good stuff in here. For a while I strongly disliked Ex’s and Oh’s because it was ridiculously overplayed, but after a couple years of not hearing it every day, I’ve really come around to it. Her performance at Daryl’s house is a lot of fun.Time to clear out the queue a bit.

Is the Spotify list updated?shuke said:For now
Hasn't been updated for a while. I'll get to it.Is the Spotify list updated?
This has been a recent soundtrack to my city bike rides (thanks), and I generally only stop at red lights when I'm wondering WTF song I am listening to.
I see we’re into the “throw #### at the wall and see what sticks” phase of this thread...shuke said:Time to clear out the queue a bit.

One of Mrs. O’s favorite bands.
Hothouse Flowers reminds me of my local garden center where they said they had to close their hothouse because "it got too hot".One of Mrs. O’s favorite bands.
There are not of lot of groups in history who have a better band name than these guys.
Jerry playing guitar led me to a wicked cover of "The Harder They Come" by him.
