Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (1 Viewer)

Look, I do like this song - but ya get no reaction cause a this:

Here on the farm and bright so warm
We are here, we are here and on a phone
And we are all at sea, we are all at sea
Nothing you do can do me no harm
Back on the road back to the farm
Where everything's bright
And every thing's rosy too
WTF?

Are they on a farm - or - here & on a phone - or - are they at sea?

The rosy bright is nice, but I'm still confused...

DUMB!

Is Mike K  intentional?
Seriously, not sure what you mean.

Ah - maybe this? -----> I get the Mike K Album, but no song ready to play...is this it?

I dunno why that happened. This is new to me. I've always liked to youtube even though I have premium Spotify.

I just copied the link from the browser top panel - I could not find a specific share button.

I may need to learn more.

Also:

This is sweet.

Mick Jagger lite?

I feel like Spotify links are acting up lately. Are you a fan of Michael Kiwanuka?

Yep - Spots if frustrating me.

Re: Mike -

I am a fan now, thanks to you.

Honestly, some songs I know I love at first bar - this was one.

I kept listenin' to the rest of the album, till I started makin links.

So - yeah - Ima fan!

Thnx! 🙂

Of all the Priest songs, you chose one of their most annoying off a horrible album.  Screaming and Defenders have much better songs in my humble opinion.  Actually, there a much better songs off of their earlier work too.
My bad.  I’m not a fan, and this was the only Priest album I owned.  I don’t think I could name more than one other song by them.

For me the best JP song will probably always be “Vuctim of Changes” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J9zyviTTmQ

That said, “Turbo Lover” and “Touch of Evil”  are great songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gQH1IEMf4Q that don’t get enough due from Priest fans...IMHO

Last song, people.

Not a huge REO fan, but to me Golden Country is their best. Gary Richrath could really shred.
Nice. Hadn’t heard that before.  If I had, it probably would have been my pick.
Hippling.  I find this interesting.  You have posted so many artists I've never heard of, yet you hadn't heard this REO song or originally knew Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm was a cover.  Not throwing shade at all, just interesting.

For some of these classic radio bands, like REO, I didn't really like them enough to ever go deep into their catalog.  I've never listened to one of their albums all the way through.

There's a lot of great records by a lot of great bands that I should know but don't. Like simey got me into Muswell Hillbillies by the Kinks, a band I love, but a band whose '70s output I'd never really given a chance. No shame in that.

So many mixed feelings.  I want to give a like to some of these songs, but then I don't want to approve of their placement.  A bunch of great stuff (some of which I've never heard), but I'm surprised to see some of my favorite artists already listed.

739. Talk Talk - It´s My Life

What's crazy is that I also had No Doubt's version of this song slated a few spots ahead.  I didn't realize this was the same song until I saw them so close in my spreadsheet.  Taking No Doubt out and will have to do a last minute replacement.
Crushed it
Love No Doubt's version as well - but they have a lot more upon which to draw - like their smash first hit ...love it!!!

I spent New Year’s Eve 1999 with the last girl I was in love with before meeting my wife. She’d come 5 hours from Pittsburgh to hang out with my college friends, their girlfriends and me in frigging Baltimore of all places.

It was sort of a cross between a club and a house party - a million-dollar pad with 100 or so people, free top-shelf liquor, and a DJ. Well, the DJ must have been from Philly, because this was the first song he played after the 2000 ball dropped.

Good times, indeed.

The one you chose is probably my second favorite of his, too.

When submitting my three choices, since I'd find it too difficult to choose three favorite songs, I decided to go with my two favorite non-Beatle songwriters and my favorite non-Beatle voice.  I thought this one was a little risky, but based on a couple of your other choices, he seemed to have a shot of making it.  I'm glad he's on your list!

My favorite songwriters are poets, and Townes fits that bill.  For "If I Needed You," I prefer his live versions to the initially recorded version.  This one from Austin City Limits or this one from the Live at the Old Quarter show are my favorites.  The latter show is all on an excellent record; my top choice of his records to listen to.  This is my favorite of his songs because it's so heartbreaking.  Its seeming simplicity belies how pleading and plaintive it is.  Pretty much kills me to listen to it, especially knowing Townes's story and the demons he fought.  The answer to his question, "would you come to me and ease my pain," turned out to be "no."  Anyone interested in Townes who hasn't seen the documentary "Be Here to Love Me' should correct that error forthwith.  It's sweet and sad; there's one scene that never fails to move me and, again, break my heart.

I'm just hitting like or love to indicate my feelings about a song, but you have a good point.  All of my likes and loves so far should be read with an implied asterisk.

big yes on this and bonzai's takes.  Ex.) I mean "The Stranglers" near 1,000?

I am loving this as a great source of additions to my spotify lists.  I'm not adding every song of course, but getting exposed to a bunch of bands I would have likely never have heard (or had forgotten) is great.

In Shuke' defense it's hard enough to pin down the best song by 1000 different artists. But then putting them in order to each other is even harder.

For years, I took it for granted that Shuke rhymed with puke.  Now I got these other pronunciations in my head.   Some are funnier than others.
