Sidney Rice (1 Viewer)

For those of you in dynasty leagues I recommend you watch this kid play tonight rather than the useless week 4 preseason NFL game. It's not likely you will get many chances to see him. Unless of course you live in the Carolinas. Lucky SOBs.

Thanks Jurb. I'm excited to watch Sidney Rice play. I've heard a lot about him but never seen him in action. And I have 5 first rounders next year. Acquire these picks now, while they are cheap!

Isn't Rice only a Soph?
Yep. And I do agree that if I were him, Id wait. Easily the 2nd best WR prospect next year if Calvin Johnson goes early. (Behind Jarrett). Size makes him a much more attractive option than Teddy Ginn for a team in need of a reciever.

Ginn's got a long ways to go before hes an option for a team in NEED of a WR. Hes going to be quite the weapon, but he needs to learn to do alot before hes a WR like Rice or Johnson is a WR.

Ugly game, both Olines suxor big time. Rice gettin hardly any looks because the QB can't get the ball off. :kicksrock: :sadbanana:

 WOW! Great catch in double coverage. Jumped over 2 Miss State defenders and wresteled the ball away from what should have been a sure pick.

Hold............. review.

Johnson / Jarrett / Ginn / Rice / Samardzija... that's only the WRs

Add Peterson / Lynch / MBush / Irons for RBs... and Quinn at QB... and you've got one hell of a first round in [DYNASTY]... (that's assuming all underclassmen declare)

Glad you got 5 picks already Gandalf... (I'm feeling like a Hobbit saying this)

Indeed - Rice is a "draftable" sophomore - ala Fitz and Ko Simpson

I concur, Rice will be draft eligible after this year. I believe the rule is that the player must be three years post high school. The only problem with having so many picks is that our draft will be diluted due to college players (but no one has a WR on their college roster) and I can only keep 13 guys. So really I only have 2-3 picks that I can keep.Man, give SC the ball back so we can see this kid Rice play!!

As a gamecock fan, I really like this kid. He was alot of fun to watch last year. I think he will be able to develop into a great wr at the next level. He is soooo smoth. He was redshirted his freshman year due to injury. Played last year as a freshman and is a sophmore this year.

Bloom and I are both writing The Ones 2 Watch this year. Sidney Rice is one of the 15 players we will cover each week.

And I'm editing the college football preview podcast right now! It should be up on Itunes tomorrow night!

I know it is against a weaker team but man his 4td's in the first half for Sidney Rice look great. He has 8 catches for 141 yards. Go COCKS! :banned:

I've been trying to get a feel for Rice and he's growing on me. Javon Walker is guy I keep comparing him to, though he needs to hit the weights and add about 10lbs. Besides the weight, he looks like he has the tools to be a stud in NFL and I like that he'll barely be 21 when the season starts.

Any reason to be concerned about him?

I'll let you know on April 28th. That's about the only concern. If he falls to round 2 as far as ATL, then you got problems.

I saw Robert Meachum on some Under Armor skills competition this weekend. He looked good for the few seconds i saw it, and didn't drop a ball in the drill where he was in the middle rotating, and catching balls. I don't know when this competition took place. :lmao:

I don't want to alarm you, but IIRC Chad Jackson did the same thing in last year's skills competition and blew people away. :lmao:

I think I'm the only one to have this concern, but when I saw him I thought that his long speed was great but his short speed wasn't and I had some worries about him getting separation at the next level.

The numbers reflect your observation considering that Rice had the slowest 40 time (4.53) of the top rated rookies Wrs except for Jarrett and also the slowest short shuttle time (4.34).His cone numbers were on the low end also (7.09) with exception to Jarrett who's was slower. He does have the best hops (40' vertical) except for Calvin of the group.I have heard that he makes some outstanding circus catches and fights for the ball well. However I have also heard he drops easy ones. Which leads me to wonder if he may be similar to Brandon Lloyd.

I think we need to keep in mind that Rice has only played two years of college football. I would expect his game to mature as he gains experience. Rice is definitely a high reward WR.
