Single Topping Conundrum (1 Viewer)

Ketchup for sure if I only get one choice.
+1... As much as I want to say cheese, I need the catsup on the burger.
Can't believe it went this far into the thread for ketchup. Absolutely sacrilegious.
haven't eaten ketchup in years, didn't realize it til I read this. Guess I don't miss it.Pickled tomatoes for me.
With french fries?
hot sauce and mustard or vinegar, depends on the thickness of the fry.

Either tomato or ketchup.

Since the OP said it's a delicious burger on a perfect bun, I'm going tomato. If it was a cheap, greasy burger I'd prefer ketchup.

He said hamburger. This would make it a completely different food item. Not sure if the judges will allow thisSoulfly we need a ruling
Huh? He said topping. Cheese sits on top on a hamburger.
Id argue it changes the dynamic of the burger enough to be considered more than a topping
Well....we all know you aren't very bright.
I dont care for your disrespect of cheese
Good....several of us are giving cheese the recognition it deserves. It's a great topping for burgers!
Its more than a topping. Its a companion and equal to the burger
Have another beer
I start drinking in 2 hours at practice. You guys might not see me the rest of the night
You're just trying to cheer me up.

Ketchup on a burger is acceptable when there are other condiments to balance it. A burger with just ketchup? That's how my 4 year old nephews take their burger.
I guess that settles it then.

completely OT: but have any of you tried peanut butter and mayo on your burger?

it's ####### delicious
That sounds ####### disgusting...Peanut Butter has a few uses... On my #### when old yeller is around, with jelly, or in a smoothie.
Thought so too.. Til I tried it
A place by me has a Korean BBQ Peanut Butter Sauce Slider, it's pretty damn delicious.
Asian restaurants can work wonders... Even those cold sesame peanut butter flavored noodles are pretty damn good.

What about those places that put some of the toppings underneath the burger patty? Do those count as toppings?

Personally, I'd go with any kind of mustard. Must be the German in me.

But the oxycodone burger in a prior post sounds delicious. The oxycodone will help with the pain when my foot swells from my gout.

Of course it would be good, it's like a layer of sweet fat on a mass of bristled fat. Reminds me of my late FIL showing me ranch dressing on pizza like he had just discovered the wheel. No ####. If you put real butter on ____, it's going to taste better.

Spinoff, you can only have one condiment for the rest of your life, what is it?

I'm going hot sauce
Is Ranch dressing a condiment?
No, it's a travesty.
Incorrect.
What else can Ranch go with besides salad, French fries, & chicken?
It's perfect for anything fried. Also good with fresh veggies.

And pizza crust.

They are four of my favorite foods, so I do eat a lot of ranch. I guess I never considered what else it would or wouldn't go with, because I eat a lot of chicken, salad, french fries, and pizza.

I forgot abut veggies... Yea, good call with Ranch.

If any cheese is on the table here, you can do better. I'm going with a Roquefort burger.
Not that I disagree with you, but people tend to over-think this stuff when it comes to putting cheese on a burger. Kraft singles are awesome on a burger, also grilled cheese sandwich.

I'll save the higher quality cheese for something else.

Point of order. We need a clarification on "single." Many, like me, have chosen cheese. I've now seen onions. It occurred to me you can prepare onions several ways. E.g. raw, sauteed, caramelized, baked, grilled. And there are many types of onions. Similarly, cheese is also a pretty broad answer. So, are "cheese" and "onion" a single topping or must we choose just one type?

I think we need to be specific on the exact prep/type of said ingredient.

Ie caramelized onions / brie cheese

Ranch sucks. Bleu cheese crushes it in any area.

And avocado/guac destroys it all.

I think timing needs to be considered here. Are we talking putting the cheese on while the hamburger is finishing cooking, allowing it to fully melt, or after it's off the heat and on the bun?
