Here's some snippets of a RB article I'm working on for next year.Based on 2003-2005 data, a minimum of a 100 fantasy points scored, and standard scoring.WORST FANTASY POINT PER TOUCH AVERAGE:84. Of the players with 300+ points, the average time missed per season was 2 games per year.Only 13 RB had more than at least 1 game with 30+ fantasy points. Only 7 players had more than 2 games of 30+ points. Tomlinson had the most with 9. Only 9 RB had 10 or more games scoring 20+ points in a game. Priest and LJ did it a combined 31 times playing in a combined 63 games (basically almost a 50% ratio).6 players had at least 30 games scoring 10+ points: Shaun Alexander (40), Edgerrin James (40), LaDainian Tomlinson (39), Tiki Barber (37), Clinton Portis (33), and Domanick Davis (30). The next most was Warrick Dunn (28)!

Not having had him on any team and with no reason to pay much attention to him, I have to say this surprises me.

Having him on a team, it doesn't surprise me.Cadillac's numbers came from the fact that he had an inordinate amount of touches for that system, not because he did much with the individual touches.

There were a LOT of games where across NFL Gamecenter, you saw:

Cadillac Williams rushes for 1 yard.

Cadillac Williams rushes up the middle for 1 yard.

Cadillac Williams rushes up the middle for 2 yards.

And so on.

Models of consistency-6 players had at least 30 games scoring 10+ points: Shaun Alexander (40), Edgerrin James (40), LaDainian Tomlinson (39), Tiki Barber (37), Clinton Portis (33), and Domanick Davis (30). The next most was Warrick Dunn (28)! I too am really surprised with Dunn being up there. I'd be interested to know streak lengths, ie LT scored at least x amount of points so many weeks in a row.

David,I completely follow where you're going with this - nice analysis.

This shows a few things:

1. Who is "productive" but only because they're getting the ball often

2. Who would be very productive if they get the ball more often (Lamont Jordan, I would hazard to guess, would have been high on this list before 2005 - hence projecting that he'd do well in Oakland as the new starter).

Players to watch for on this are those who are productive in RBBC situations and may get the ball more in 2006 (Chester Taylor comes to mind). Also vice versa - if someone becomes the new "feature back" - or becomes one yet again - how will he produce if he gets 25 touches a game? (Ricky Williams in a trade?)

Also take this with a grain of salt - I don't know if a Tatum Bell will have enough career touches to get on this list, but we know that he won't get more than 20 touches, if that, under Shanahan.
