SNL is Friggin' Horrible! Except when Timberlake is hosting. (1 Viewer)

Kind of gross to bring Alec Baldwin back and do a poor job imitating RFK.
Given the recent news surrounding RFK (which I won't go into out of respect for board rules), I think nothing is off limits at this point and "gross" is the new norm.
I think a person loses a lot of their comedic value after they shoot and kill a co-worker.
I don't disagree. That said, you're probably not their target audience. Their likely targeted audience are those panicking about the likely impact RFK will have on their lives comes 2025 and they need humor to cope with such panic.

Yeah imagine eating healthy food. The horror!!
Yeah I'm going to step away from this at this point because it'll inevitably turn political.

I didn't watch the whole episode last night but when Chloe Fineman was "the daughter" and mimed you blow.....I lold

That skit was hilarious. Was just kind of funny until her part, I was dying.

And Che and Jost telling each other’s jokes is always great…and then you add in Scar Jo being there and the butt of many of them? 🤣

My favorite part of that skit is when Melissa McCarthy's character spit her drink on the window, and then wiped it with her boobs, and then smashed her boobs against the window again, and then licked up some of the drink and peeked at them through the lick line. Chloe was trying her best to hold her laughter in.

In the 50 years of SNL I’m pretty sure there’s never been an opening monologue like Chappelle’s was tonight.
He touched on Trump (wishing him better this time), Haitians eating pets in Springfield which is next to where he lives, the LA 🔥, Diddy, Jimmy Carter, and the Palestinians which is sure to piss some people off, especially just hours before the ceasefire. Stand-up brilliance.

The 50 years of SNL music show that aired recently was really cool, and there was a SNL 50th homecoming concert the other night that can be watched on Peacock that had a bunch of performers and was hosted by Fallon, the entire audience was people connected to the show - cast members, performers, hosts, etc. Worth a watch

Can't believe they actually let Chevy in the building. Maybe for 60 he'll even get a speaking part in the show. Assuming Lorne is dead by then of course.

The other funky missing performance was swift doing her song. It worked but was fairly clear they planned her to come in there.

The Kate McKinnon/Meryl Streep skit was gold. Talk about testing censorship. Kate is one of the all-time bests.
Probably the biggest gut buster side splitter of the night
The show was up and down, lot of Martin and Short early which is fine
Eddie Murphy did a spot on impression of Tracy Morgan, wish he would have just kept that spot on stage but something happens towards the end of that skit, just awkward
The show was up and down like the show typically is on Saturday Nights

-Even when the show has had huge success like the late 70s/early 80s and then a big section of the 90s, then Ferrell and crew, it always has some scenes or skits that fall flat
But there was enough laughs last night, 3.5 hours was a bit much
The song with Samberg I thought was produced well but overall the anxiety topic was lame

the music teachers with Ferrell and Gasteyer was hysterical

It’s kind of inside baseball, but if you’ve heard a lot of interviews with former cast members it makes total sense. Similar to Sandler’s song
Fred Armisen's question from the audience to Fey and Poehler was like this as well. The Spade & Carvey podcast "Fly On The Wall" is dedicated to the insider stuff from former writers, hosts and cast members. Many talk about the stress and anxiety they went through in the pressure cooker that is SNL.

Somewhere in here we should probably talk about the "Fly on the Wall" podcast. And the reason I bring it up is because of how sorry I am that it isn't better than it is. Awesome concept, but Carvey isn't a natural interviewer despite how easy it is to root for him, and Spade just sucks at being funny.

If only there was some sort of search capability for the FFA. Something that maybe let you search for "Fly on the Wall" in a particular forum.

Is that you David?

Tina and Amy were on the Jimmy show the week before the special and spent a fair amount of time talking about the writers anxiety as well.
