Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

Total bust for central VA. Unless I just jinxed myself and the "wrap around" stuff comes in heavy today.
Agree (Lynchburg/Bedford area of Virginia). I was expecting something like 1993 based on the mega-hype. Not even in the same ballpark.
Run on up I-81 to Woodstock. That'll help your disappointment. You'll die before you get here, but at least you won't feel let-down.

Otis - NYC will get about 1-2 feet.

My call yesterday was 28 to 34 inches. And I had been saying 1 to 3 feet since about Wednesday. As of yesterday, Action News was still saying 6-12 and I was catching a lot of crap from people on Facebook for "hyping" the storm. Well, by 6 pm, Action News went to 12-18. Most places, including the NWS were calling for about 18 inches.

Models continue to show that the low will be captured and set up perfectly over us with the banding I was talking about. So here's the skinny:

We have about 13 inches at this point. And the storm hasn't even really begun for us. Most places (not Action News) have now upped their totals to 2 feet, including the NWS. I still think they are being conservative. I stand by my call of 28 to 34, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw it slightly higher. Seriously. 40 inches wouldn't be out of the question. Not saying that's a high probability, but it wouldn't shock me in the least.

See that. I do come on this site sometimes when it's not during work hours. Usually it's under a different alias, but for snow days, I'll make an exception.

Stay safe, everyone! I may hope back in here later if things change or get crazy fun.

Forgot to add that thundersnow is a very high possibility for us when the banding starts. :excited:

Wind hitting pretty hard now in my area. Went out and shoveled/sprinkled the rock salt, and sort of not wondering why I bothered, as 20 minutes later it's all a mess again.

After breakfast I'm firing up the Jeep to go get out in it, find some excuse for an errand.
Have a buddy who had to abandon his Rubicon in North Jersey Bro

I was also underwhelmed and it's been pretty quiet here since probably 6PM last night. It's now coming down fairly heavy here again. I'm sure it'll be shortlived, but still, I think it's the longevity of this thing that will cause the problems.

I don't know what the roads look like (can't get out of my neighborhood until a private plow comes), but I'm sure there's no way to really clean things up until this thing actually comes to an end.

NW suburbs of Philly.

G'mornin #####es.

Woke up to Long Island getting up to two feet? Damn.

Was hoping to do am Otis and hit some errands, but the winds are really whipping... Jeep or not think Ill smoke n drink the day away and hope for some unplowed hilly roads tomorrow.

Oats, bring that beast this way or head to the M Hills for some real fun. Just remember Jeeps are not immune from downed power lines, trees and branches falling and/or blocking roads nor other cars out there.... not to mention plows and yahoos in their invincitrucks.

Wife says it was about 8 inches this morning. She also said theres a good amount of snow on the ground.

So...is it still a bust? :coffee:

Wohoo!!! Shiek sighting!

Good stuff GB. Gov. Cuomo on CNN right now basically saying we were caught off guard, the forecasters way underestimated what would hit NYC.

I only wish there were one NFL game on today and one tomorrow. :kicksrock:

WJLA reporter invited any Congressmen who live in the capital to come over to the Supreme Court to make snowmen of the judges, have a snowball fight, or make snow angels.

Ok, pics... really nothing crazy so far except the wind. As you can see, my wife's judgement of 8 inches might be a tad exaggerated, though a good Jewish 6 at least. A lotta blowing though, some places near bare and nothing on table tops, so hard to really gauge.

I am beginning to think I have seriously overestimated how much winter gives a #### about me changing the oil in my snowblower.

easy 6-8" here now, and it is coming down like a mother. Of course, the kids were walking the 4-1/2 month-old puppy, and he got loose, and decided that this weather is the best thing ever. Went romping around the neighborhood. Guess who goes and gets him?

At least I got the wife to make French Toast. Then I'm bundling up, loading up the flask with bourbon, and walking outside to look at all the snow in a concerned manner.

Not much plowing on the side streets in the city as of yet. The main streets are getting a once over prob every 20-30.

The snow always brings out the biggest morons. I was walking to the bagel store and this idiot is going backwards up the street. Normally nobody would ever go backwards on this particular street, but today is good day to do it, #######. People just like this cause accidents

Got at least a foot of snow overnight in south central PA. Still snowing hard. Wind howling! Classic Nor'easter!
Where you be? I used to live in Hanover.
:hifive: Grew up in East York.
My mailing address was actually Glenville, near the lake I've forgotten the name of
Lake Mead? That's more towards East Berlin, though, so I doubt that's the one you're referring to. I'm just taking a stab.

We have probably ten inches here in staten island and it's still coming down hard and it's supposed to go until tonight. This is gonna be brutal.

A couple of gusts blew threw and you couldn't see squat. Most roads not plowed. Eye of the storm hitting us in about 2 hrs...

Thank God you had your Jeep to power through that tundra.

The 7-11 parking lot was plowed. The other roads, not so good.
