Snowmageddon 2022 (3 Viewers)

Just grabbed my morning bagel it's coming hard now. Downside to living in the city is it's pretty to justify not coming in when the M42 never stops running.p

Over 12" now, brutal...
Just east of you between Exton and WC. I've done my driveway 3 times with my snowblower starting at 6AM. Can't believe my son had to go to work, like the dealership is going to have any customers today. About to go out again and do another 4-5 inches.

In the city now...not bad.
Crap. So I'm going to look like a wimp working from home today?
You'll probably be happy you did when you hear the horror stories of trying to get home.
It's a massive blizzard outside... Looks really bad to me

Also, outside of 1996, I don't remember a winter this bad.

It never cracks 30 outside and snows 2-3x a week.. I'm shocked schools are open today, De Blasio kinda being a ####
I'm about 50 miles west of NYC - Flemington NJ...it's bad here. Woke up around 7:30 to a white-out. I think they're serious when they say the snowfall totals could double or more as you go even slightly west. Honestly, I'd rather it stay as snow than turn to ice. Ice = power outages. I'm not going anywhere, and I've got a really really good snow blower, so I can clear all the snow they can give me.

Not much overnight but def coming down hard - and will all day by the looks of it.
Yeah I'm bailing. I just went out and shoveled. Maybe 6 inches of snow already, and after I made a pass through the walk and driveway,it was covered in another inch or two and I had to go back and redo. Did that three times. And it's still coming down at a good clip.Suck it work. See you tomorrow maybe
Just let it go. Shovel all at once.
And have a heart attack.
???
It's like the turtle and the hare, slow and steady wins the race.

Shoveling a little snow several times is a lot less taxing on your health than trying to do 12+ inches of wet heavy snow all at once.

If you just let it go, the snow can accumulate to the point that it's no longer physically possible to do anything about it. I'm not affected by the current storm that you guys are getting, but I've been through storms that required getting my snowblower out and clearing out the driveway even though it was still snowing heavily, because if I didn't, the snowblower wouldn't be able to handle the total accumulation.

We have snow removal part of our HOA, thank goodness. I am still going to have to do a little bit of shoveling so my Lab can go to the bathroom without submerging himself in snow each time.

Wife is due any day now. Need to keep it relatively clean just in case...

Boil some water and have clean sheets if you get stuck at home. I have no idea what you do with them but I've watched enough TV shows and movies and they always say this when a woman goes into labor.

This storm is lasting for a pretty long duration. In NJ, after changing to freezing rain/rain later today, it will still be around tonight when it changes back to snow and drops a few more inches.

I moved the Land Rover from our hilly driveway over to our back flat driveway this morning. There is so much snow and ice in the hill driveway, I nearly skidded right off and toppled down onto the neighbor's house below. It's a mess out there.

But yeah, my plan is to shovel every hour or two and keep the Rover ready, just in case. Throw it into snow mode, and off we go.

That is done to distract the people not directly involved.

Now that I'm actually hoping Otis' wife has to give birth at home with Otis' help, but it would make a great story (assuming everything ultimately goes well).

Jersey shore and only heavy heavy heavy fricken monsoon rain, but it melted all the snow. I guess the concern now is if it gets cold enough to freeze and ice everything. Still, not nearly as bad as they said and nowhere near as bad as some of you. Stay safe and enjoy the family time.

you NC folks still alive?
yup...still coming down.
Up here it's coming down like it did yesterday. Big flakes and lots of them. We may make that 3 inches if this keeps up.
Its not showing here yet, but we had a good amount of hail last night. Roads are still frozen.
Yeah we got some ice last night. Until the snow started everything was glazed over. Now it's snow on top of that and more ice expected later today.

over 13 inches here just west of Baltimore. Started shoveling around 7 and finished around 8:30 (driveway is two-car about 80 ft long). Wore a budybugg so I'll know how many calories I burned (I;m guessing around 1,200 or so).

There you go, Otis. You have an out. "Honey I am SO sorry I couldn't be with you when little Otis was born, I was busy boiling water and getting clean sheets...."

I'm jealous. My first year working here, I had 4 snow days. Last 3 years? Nada.
I had off all last week because of the two storms. It was pretty sweet. Expect to be off Thursday and Friday of this week. When Spring rolls around, I'm not sure how I'm going to get used to coming into work 5 days a week.
Are you guys teachers or something? I've been at my current job over 17 years and never once have we closed due to snow or cold.
I drive 25 miles of all rural 2-lane highway. Had a bunch of snow for a 2 week period. Long stretches were down to 1 lane with snow piled 10' on the sides. 1 day the plant shut down. 1 morning a snow plow driver turned me around because they had a plow stuck, 1 morning a state patrolman sent me home, and 1 day I made it to the office only to find out no one else did.
Happened to me our last storm. Vowed not to be that guy again.

Good luck everyone. And you can shovel 24 inches of snow. It's not fun, but a hell of a lot less time than shoveling every 2-3 inches.

Oat, GLGB.

Disagree with this. The amount of effort required to shovel 1 foot + of snow is way more than shoveling every couple of inches multiple times.

Oats is on top of this one.

Agree, especially with freezing rain in the mix... You let it back up and it gets real heavy.

Kind of surprised GB O doesn't have a blower.
Or the landscape crew doing it for him.

Fine, I'll get off this topic. But honestly, I've lived through at least 10 or more storms of greater than 12 inches and I've always waited till the end. I would rather work harder for a short period of time then less hard and go outside five times the same day.

Bunch of little #####es in here if you ask me!

BTW best wishes to Mrs.O on her impending. Hopefully not until the roads are nice and clear.
:goodposting:

Aren't you glad you chose The North Shore? As far as snowfalls go on The Island- NW historically gets the most of this white stuff.

:snowshovel:

Bunch of little ####### that don't mind going outside a few times a day. Quit being an even bigger #### and enjoy the outdoors.
