Snowmageddon 2022 (2 Viewers)

It's also good to note that while the old GFS used to be laughed at, the new GFS has been pretty dependable. In fact, the GFS was the only model that called the bust for Monday's storm correctly.
Good thing that "bust" was made up of the fluffy stuff...
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.
LI got a good bit of snow so no bust there. You're talking areas the forecast/other models did bust though, not where it was correct.
Oh. Yeah. Obviously the storm was a huge hit to NE. I'm talking about the dry slot that moved in over NYC, NJ and PA. That bust area was not seen by any model except the GFS.
Yeah, Chad Myers (CNN) was damn near giddy talking about the new GFS and how well it performed on this one.

Euro came back the coldest. Euro snow map has my area around 10 inches. But with snow ratios probably close to 15:1, we could see closer to 12 to 16 inches. That's going off the model and it is not an official forecast.

Can you push it a bit south please? I am only ~40 miles south of Mason-Dixon, so a whole lot is not needed. Thanks!
Judging from the models, you have a chance. I only say the MDL because that's a easy spot to pinpoint. But it could definitely be either a little south or north of that. Leaning more to the south, at this point.

If it pushes south, are we more likely to get snow? Are you basically talking about the rain/snow line? Had that a lot growing up, being closer to the ocean, on the south side of Boston, we were often on the south side of that line!

Some proof of the southerly movement. Also looks impressive towards Philly.

Kickoff is 6something, right? So assume I'm on the GSP from like noon to 2 and then against from 11-1. Am I driving in a blizzard or not?

Yes. Rain snow line. And you'll see in that picture the snowfall amounts are at 10:1. The further north you go, you'll start to get into 15:1 and 20:1. Basically, a very wide band of 12+ inches of snow.

Like I said above, GB, your drive home will almost definitely be in it.
Are we talking an amount of powder equal too the end of Scarface or the end of A.I. ?
I don't remember the end of AI. But it will be coming down at a good clip by 11 to 1. And it will have been snowing for a good amount of time before then.

Incredible arctic boundary is close but the storm looks to cut to Ohio surging warm air north. Lack of blocking sucks this winter. Front end dump of 3" for our area before ice and cold rain.

I no longer count on Sheik for my forecasts and updates. He abandons us when we most need him.
When did I abandon you guys? I'm doing more of the long range stuff. I've talked about each one of these storms 2 to 3 weeks out. This Sunday's storm looks really nice.Timing should start around halftime, so if you are out partying, be careful and mindful of the roads. This system is a fast mover, so that will work against huge totals. But, the temps will be low, giving us some possibly really high snow ratios, which will work in our favor for high totals.

Most models have had my area around a foot of snow, but we should know more after all of the models have run their next runs. That would be near 2 pm. GFS is on the clock as we speak.

This storm has a good chance at over performing as their is plenty of Gulf moisture that is available to be tapped into. Models are not picking up on this at this point.

With all 4 model runs showing pretty much a consensus on track, confidence is high that this will come to fruition. In other words, the bust potential is very small with this storm.
You went almost 3 fulls days and 13 pages between posts during what was being called a historic storm impacting tens of millions.

I call that abandoning your post when most needed!

 Sheik
I actually never post on the weekend.
I've tried to tell the, GB.

Love her...She's a fantastic runner too. I've seen her at a number of local races and is a super cool chick.
2,4,3,1

Also, here's what we're supposed to be getting a little west of you folks

(edit: I'm just at the north edge of the 7-11" range)

The Weather Channel app was actually pretty accurate on the NYC snow last week.

Let's see how it is this time.

Calling for:

Snow at 8pm, turning to rain at 5am, and back to snow tomorrow at 4pm until 7pm.

Total - 3-5 inches.

So 8 inches here in Lake County IL. Gonna get 12-14.

Went to the grocery store last night. It was very busy. Night before big storm AND super bowl. No one was freaking out. Nothing was totally out of stock.

That's because we aren't East Coast Pussay's.

So did I. But there's a lot more still to come.
I have to drop someone off at union station in an hour. I'll report back....

Wind really picking up now. You shovel and by the time you get to the bottom the top has drifted over. #### this I'm waiting till it's all over.

Meh

Main streets are drivable......side streets are getting bad.

This made politely declining Super Bowl invites real easy this year. Ill get up a little earlier and just shovel it all in the morning.

Not a huge amount here yet, but it's really heavy. Been hovering right around freezing all day.

Got half the driveway cleared and the snowblower clogged up with packed snow/ice that I now need to let melt out.

Yeah this is a pretty nasty storm. Just took my AWD out and lots of people in the ditch. Couple private truck plows slid out and were in 18" deep ditches.

As always the Jeeps on the road driving like d bags.
