Exactly what we got. Coworker was up north where it was "snowing pretty good" and by the time he left it had warmed up and everything was gone.Koya said:Slushy rain and sleet here on the north shore. Nothing worse than hard driving 37 degree rain.
Can't blame you really but me...when there's a chance that the roads could ice I'd rather drive in the daylight. Just my preference though. Agree regarding other drivers. When I drove in to work this morning, and it was only raining, some people were white knuckling and driving 50 in a 70 zone. Stacked traffic up at 10am when the roads should be somewhat free flowing.GroveDiesel said:I already made the call to wait until tomorrow. We'll leave at 4am before everyone else gets on the road. I figure that by 4am they'll have had the roads cleared and salted. That's what I'm counting on anyway. Did we run Sheik off?
So, as we all saw, the Thanksgiving storm happened. I-95 was the battleground, so a lot of places around there didn't quite see the snow totals I thought. Some places, like myself, had rain, snow, then a mix, then snow. We got about 3 to 4 inches on the ground before the mix took it down to about an inch. Then another inch to top it off. It really depended on where you were as places around me got 6 inches while we only showed 2 inches on the ground. November storms can be like that, though.Storm signal for Thanksgiving is still looking promising, although not sure how much cold air will be around to work with. Going very long range, the next really good storm signal is December 10th.Storm signal showing up for Thanksgiving for the Northeast. Long way out, but interesting. Could see record low temps tonight, then back up in the mid 60's for Monday. Then possibly slamming back down low enough for snow by the end of the week. Perfect weather for getting sick in.

The storm signal for Dec. 10 now looks as if it may be more like a 8th-9th event. Pattern seems to be changing a little quicker than I thought. This one is still interesting to keep an eye on because while a couple model runs have come back with a storm out to sea, others have come back with a monster storm. Monster. So, as we all saw, the Thanksgiving storm happened. I-95 was the battleground, so a lot of places around there didn't quite see the snow totals I thought. Looking ahead, tonight could be a quick moving clipper that could bring snow/ice/mix to my area. Same with Friday night. But I'm still watching the December 10th storm signal. May even end up being slightly sooner. Still a ways out, but this is still looking pretty promising.
If you're talking this Friday you shouldn't hit anything other than clouds, a little rain and traffic. Just crappy clouds and rain around here until next week.I apologize for the abbreviation, I took it from the Disney World thread, where I had just been posting. No need for theOh.WDW = Walt Disney WorldNot sure what WDW is, but I'll assume it's in NoVA or around it. Models are starting to come around to thinking that a storm is possible. Not all of them, but they are trending towards a storm. It'll be interesting to see how the models start handling this starting tomorrow. The event for the 10th will now officially be the 8th-9th event now. IF... if there is an event. Models are still all over the place, but it is still there. I don't think much faith can be put into the models on this one until we are really close because of the factors around it. That said, I'll go over some of the models. Cold air will be the key for my area. On the models that are showing a monster storm, the rain/snow battleground would be just west of me.
If anyone sees maps come out today with snowfall totals, don't buy into it. The models that run will generate a snowfall total map that will usually end up on someone's Facebook page. Problem is, these maps are not what they sound like. Most times, they are interpreted wrong, as there is extra data that needs to be accounted for on those maps. And even if they are accounted for, it is important to remember that model run totals are not actual forecasts.
Now, again, just having said that, the maps that are coming out now look impressive. My area would get nothing, but central PA would be getting snow measured with a yardstick. Again, that is NOT A FORECAST. But it does show that this storm has a great deal of potential. I think by Friday we should have a better picture.
This thing could be huge. Fingers crossed. I'm just going to pat myself on the back and mention that I called this storm almost a month out.Storm signal for Thanksgiving is still looking promising, although not sure how much cold air will be around to work with. Some models are showing the low phasing offshore and pounding New England. Amazingly, another low bombs out off of NC and moves up right behind its baby brother, hammering the Mid Atlantic. Events like this are rare, but have happened before. It could just be models not comprehending some of the data. But if this were to happen, it would be an epic storm. Long duration with blizzard like conditions. This thing could be huge. Fingers crossed.
