Snowmageddon 2022 (3 Viewers)

local news is now on this... calling for kinda maybe possibly a foot here in NYC.
Watch those numbers go up, especially with the latest NAM starting to agree with the Euro. Some of these runs are calling for close to 30" in NYC.

Latest guidance focusing on yes, Snowmaggedon 2015 for areas from Central NJ to Boston. 12-18" seems likely with spots approaching 2'. Strong storm with considerable blowing and drifting of the snow into early Wednesday. Prelude smaller event on Monday in southern areas may make travel difficult as well so prepare today.

At this point DC to Harrisburg on west looks to miss the brunt of the snow, Philly is right on the line between big amounts and a more pedestrian 4-8" storm. This one is the type of storm that on the southwest edge there could be 30 miles dividing 3" and a foot.

WTF is sheik. Mrs O just told me about a legit blizzard here on Long Island projected to start tomorrow afternoon and looking at 1-2 feet. Wtf. I shouldn't be learning this first from my wife.

Sounds like it means I go to work tomorrow but maybe means I leave early and hopefully if NYC is under feet of snow it means I don't go in Tuesday. Moneybag baby.

Otis, it sounds like you're caught unprepared, again.

Other than the fact we were discussing this 24 hours ago, yeah.

This thread is for people who do not go to work when it snows, not dummies who want to leave work early.

Euro just came in, remarkably consistent.

Philly 10-15"

NYC 14-20"

BOS 18-24"

Light snow will start tonight into tomorrow morning in Philly, heavy snow from the bombing coastal storm to start around PM rush or just after Monday evening into Tuesday.

Who has two thumbs and touched down at logan international 45 min ago from west palm beach because his work made him come up for a training that's about 99.9% to be cancled?

THIS GUY!!!

My wife raced out the door at 8am to go there, I told her she was nuts... She said it was real crowded (which it is typically empty at open). I walked by an hour ago and there is a line around the block to get in the store, shelves are prob empty.

Going to Sunny Isles Beach in 2 weeks... By the time you can get a flight back, maybe we'll cross paths at the airport :hifive:

Good times.

A crippling and potentially historic blizzard to impact the area mainly from late Monday into Tuesday, lingering into early Wednesday.

Blizzard Warning in effect from 7 pm Monday to 1 am EST Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Blizzard Warning, which is in effect from 7 pm Monday to 1 am EST Wednesday. The Blizzard Watch is no longer in effect.

Locations: eastern and southeastern Massachusetts as well as all of Rhode Island.

Hazard types: Heavy snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions. Considerable blowing and drifting snow. Strong to damaging winds.

Accumulations: snow accumulations of around 20 to 30 inches. With locally higher amounts. Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches an hour at times.

Timing: while the storm is expected late Monday lingering into early Wednesday, the worst of the storm will be Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.

Impacts: Heavy snow and strong winds will result in White-out / blizzard conditions with near zero visibility. Travel will be impossible and life threatening across the entire region. Also snow may be wet enough to result in downed tree limbs and power outages in addition to the winds.

Winds: North-northeast 30 to 40 mph with gusts around 65 to 75 mph. The height of the winds will be late Monday night into Tuesday. The strongest winds will be across the coastal areas.

I'm jealous that you're in NY for this. Maybe the only time in my life I utter those words.

Near hurricane force winds with 2' of snow. HISTORIC.

Flights into Philly cancelled tomorrow already (some anyway)

My lady is stuck in Tampa - could be worse places to be stuck, but that sucks.

Travel is going to be completely f'd up the east coast until mid week

I usually stir the pot a bit with these winter storms, but I'm not touching this with a ten foot pole. This looks bad.

Good luck, stay safe, and if you don't have to leave your house, don't. Just don't be that psycho at the store buying all the milk, bread, and eggs.

I usually hate snow but i dont mind the timing of this one too much. I can work from home M,T,W with no issues. Went food shopping like usual this AM. I went at 8 am like usual and there were no lines. I think this was before word got out. My wife will be home too. So basically hunker down to two to three days with the family. The only thing that sux usually its advantageous to work from home but if the office is closed I still have to work from home.

Next set of model runs start at 9pm or so. There has been some discrepancy regarding impact to Philly which may be settled tonight. But NYC, CT, BOS are in the path of absolute annihilation from Snowmaggedon 2015. Remember in the case of power outages, beer can be kept cold in the snow drifts.
