Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

So it is well after 11 PM in NY. How is it the blizzardmobile is able to be on the streets without getting ticketed while other vehicles that aren't emergency ones have to be parked?

from all the reports i had heard its not supposed to be ''bad'' until 3 am and goes until 11 am ,dropping 2 to 4 inches an hour

I'm about 30 min from high tide and the water is at land level and probably two feet below the breakwall. It's cold and windy, but not much snow. Maybe 8 inches on the ground.

Starting to look a little worse out there now. But it still doesn't look like a ton of snow. Just really windy.

Just returned... 3 of the 4 bars I walked by were closed, the one that was open there were 5 dudes sitting at the bar, so I skipped the drink.

Snow total as of 12 http://i.imgur.com/E0klWtE.jpg

Digging out will be tough http://i.imgur.com/U9aEMlZ.jpg

Subways closed http://i.imgur.com/vxpYiBH.jpg

SNOWMAGEDON!!!!! http://i.imgur.com/6NmRxfe.jpg

Nice smooth surface, my skid marks, I can slide longer than a Volvo SUV http://i.imgur.com/VddYerc.jpg

I would call these conditions the opposite of dangerous. If it was 1pm instead of am, it would be the perfect weather to go to the park and play with your kids. Not too cold or windy, fluffy snow, nothing crazy...

HISTORICAL NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!

Years from now, FC42 can take out these photos and reminisce, "that was one for the history books..."

Who has two thumbs and touched down at logan international 45 min ago from west palm beach because his work made him come up for a training that's about 99.9% to be cancled?

THIS GUY!!!
Urgent update requested as to whether bourbon levels in hotel are critically low.

Somewhat a miss for NYC (but not 2") but just a bit further to the north they have 18" and still coming. Winds were definitely at or near hurricane force at times overnight. Interesting thing is Chad Myers of CNN said the new weather model hit NYC on the head where the others, including the Euro, were predicting more.

New weather model? Like, the one from this morning that shows retroactively 6" and not 12-18"?

They ####ed up.

I wonder, aside from milk etc sales, if there's a way of calculating how much money shutting the city down last night and today is costing the city?

Most (if not all) of them still use old "reliable" models like the GFS and NAM, and in some cases the Euro. They know they f'd up as far as Philly and NYC but it looks like they'll be right for much of the NE.

Heard this is the first time in decades (pretty sure they said ever) they've shut down the trains for snow. Gotta be costly to shut down and start up the trains. Once they get started probably take them a day to get fully operational.

I'm no expert, and this is a guess, but they shut some/most trains down every night. I don't think there's an issue with starting them back up.

Still very few cars out there. Prior walking on the streets instead of sidewalks... less because of novelty IMO, but because they'vebeen plowed to pavement while sidewalks are still covered

The boss offered to put people up at hotels so we can get to the office tomorrow. There were no takers - we'll see who gets the last laugh.

Snow was starting to accumulate on the roads when I got home at 7pm. You can turn up the hyperboles now that I have finished dinner.
When I was at The Firm I used to do that all the time... I'd stay at the Copley Plaza Hotel and charge it to a client.

I didn't want to tempt anything by waking up to 2 feet
Are you in Philly/South Jersey? Curious what the totals are there?
Philly here - maybe 2 inches. Heading into work. Trains operating on weekend schedule though. Parking lot pretty empty.
Less than half an inch here, and we were supposed to get more than Philly. Can't believe school was canceled for this. What a bunch of wusses.
