Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

People give Minnesotans a hard time for living in a place with such long cold winters, but we never get storms like the Northeast does in the wintertime. We don't see these snow levels and wind ever.

But it's so darn COLD in Mn.  We may get three feet of snow tomorrow, but it will probably hit 70 in a week here.

Last night the weather channel had 8-14 inches plus in Southern RI. I wake up this morning and it has 3-5 inches of snow and a lot of rain.
Oh cool.  It must be tracking really close to us in that case.  Hope we don't lose power.

Just like that Long Island down to 8-12.  Still may be windy, but it sounds like we realistically will just have 6-8 inches of snow and a bunch of wind.  YAWN

I wouldn't bank on that.  A slight shift in track and you will get twenty inches.

I'm still seeing 12-18 in Cranston on most places including NOAA.  Although didn't Trump get rid of the them already?
I'm fine getting a ton of snow tomorrow despite having a 100 yard driveway. The Rams are in the tourney so nothing is going to ruin my good mood this week.

Now projections are back up to 12-18 in my area with a blizzard warning in effect from 8 pm tonight to 6 pm tomorrow night.
Yeah, I think this mornings huge western drift was an anomaly.   The models were fairly in line leading up to that.  The center will probably be south of the jersey coast and then head straight for Nantucket.   If it comes up a bit warm air will creep in obviously.   I expect to see 10-20 in Cranston myself.

As usual, all the paranoid old ladies I work with are losing their minds.

"I didn't get bread yet!"

"The store was out of bread"

"I MUST get bread"

You would think everyone I work with owns a Quiznos franchise

It's so funny that people fixate on bread and milk. I haven't eaten either of these things in months.

Id be more worried about having enough protein (chicken, beef, pork) and fresh fruits and veggies.

some industrious young chaps at my daughter's school were taking reservations for free shoveling tomorrow/Wednesday - these kids are the tops - gratuity will be generous ??

The serious weather followers are jacked up for this one:

Gorilla in the Gulf, pushing convection on a bender - Strong cold HP to the north, baroclinic zone set up by previous system.

As perfect as one can imagine at this point.

:scared:

When are the next model runs?  I have to decide whether or not to close tomorrow.
This should be enough. A blizzard warning is pretty much defcon 5, isn't it?

OMG ITS TURNING INTO A BOMBOGENESIS!!!

Bombogenesis is defined as a mid-latitude cyclone that drops in surface barometric pressure by 24 or more millibars in a 24-hour period. The height contours pack around the center of rotation and the number of height contours increases rapidly in the developing stages.
