So who is the Philly WR to grab? (1 Viewer)

Assuming Brown & Stallworth are injury scratches next week, who is starting in Philly? Greg Lewis and who? Avant? Baskett?

Figuring one of these guys might make a good waiver wire bye week start.

I know there was tons of Baskett hype in the preseason. Will he start? Philly homers??

Other than Westy, Brown or Stallworth, I don't think anyone else is worth a roster spot. Baskett and Avant maybe eventually... G Lewis = no.

If Stallworth & Brown are out, figure McNabb is good for 250 next week, some WR is gonna have 80-90/1.
250 may be pushing it... but, if that were the case I see maybe 90 for westbrook, and maybe 90 for smith - oh, heck.. I really don't see 70 more passing yards out of him - and if he gets 70 moe it would prob be spread around to 5 more guys.

G Lewis = no.
75 yards and 2 TDs, and a likely starting role in a pass-crazy offense don't impress you. OK.
I know you can't take away stats, and production is production.... but what if you took two catches away from Lewis' stats?
I'm not predicting anything for next week. But the guy gave a flat-out "No" as if Lewis is a complete nonfactor. My only point is tonight said otherwise.

Sorry, the arguement of simply taking away big plays always cracks me up.

Anyway, I'm not going to look up exact stats, but I'd imagine the first 4 games of the season, the top WR in every Philly game has put up some good points.

Stallworth had 2 monster games. Brown had a good game vs. SF, and now Lewis has a solid night tonight.

So, what that tells me is that the top WR in the Philly offense is going to product fantasy points. Doesn't matter who it is.

If Brown & Stallworth are out, they aren't going to re-write their offensive philosphy in one week and route all their plays to Westbrook & LJ. Their WR will still get points.

Ergo, point of my post. I simply don't think you can dismiss a guy like Lewis as worthless when in the one game this season he has an opportunity to be the top guy he has 2 TDs.

I'm actually more interested in hearing about Avant & Baskett and whether or not it will be one of those guys who will be more of the WR focal point.

I watched the game on and off between working....

When did Brown get hurt???

I thought I saw him in the game at the end.

Thanks.

Oh wait.. so what you are saying is that you can't take away stats, and production is production? Isn't there a smiley for that? Why didn't you use that one in the first place.Even if Lewis somehow winds up starting for the next 4 weeks... I can't seem him raising his average to more than his current 2 catches per game. The Philly O spreads the ball around too much.

Not sure why you are so agro. Anyway, you hate Lewis. Noted. Let's both move on.

I stick by my statement of G Lewis = no. The thread was asking what Philly WR to grab. Lewis is way too inconsistent to comfortably have in your starting lineup.

Greg Lewis is the "speed / deep" guy (and yes :X ) but he caught his targets this week - keep in mind his defender was awful, but at least he didn't go Pinkston on us and get alligator arms.

Hank Baskett was the #2 starter before Donte' came to town. Now he is the slot guy, but that's not where he fits best.

Jason Avant is a big target and can best be used in the slot.

I would put Lewis in for Stallworth and Baskett in for Brown IF both are out.

If one is hurt, Baskett goes in.

Avant was active tonight and could see action next week from the slot.

HTH.

lewis is absolute trash... guy was embarrassingly bad last season as a starter. the packers clown show is the only secondary he can get open against.

stay away.

Did Reid say anything about Stallworth in the press conf?

I am thinking he was just taking time off due to the margin
