Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (2 Viewers)

I would encourage you to watch more clips of Ware and as many of his touches as you can...also should be noted his 4 receptions last year is very misleading, he has worked hard to improve and actually caught several balls in preseason.

Now let me help clear some mud because you just saying it's mud doesn't make it true, let me help you and just keep an open mind, mine is.

Reid said Ware will start, that's a fact not speculation. Reid ALSO said West and Davis will see action...how much or how many touches was not really clear so that part is muddy. But usually when you announce a RB like Ware is starting...Reid wants the best of Ware so he says yeah, I'm playing all 3 backs but Ware is starting.

-MOP believes(not a fact) that Reid will use Ware extensively and as long as he doesn't stall or fumble I think he will see about 2 out of every 3 drives on Sunday, workhorse even with a ceiling for half the touches and San Diego, this should be a win for the Chiefs.

Ware 15/75/Td plus 20 yds rec

West 10/45 plus 10 rec

Davis 5/15 yds...I'm just assuming he doesn't go off with his touches in the 2nd half once they are nursing a lead.

Now what do you think is going to happen based on the beat writers, Reid, national media, what you got?
Thanks for your post MOP.  First thing I'll say is I'm also in the pro-Ware camp.  Not sure if I came off as something else with my posts but I'll make that clear right away.   I'll credit Matt Waldman for turning me on to him a couple years back.  Ive owned him in one league since Seattle first signed him and picked him up in another league last year during the San Diego game.  I love the kid's tape and I've never argued his talent.  I'm not even sure anyone in this thread is arguing his talent.  The argument is mostly about how the usage will be split to start the season between Ware and West

My reasoning for not pushing my opinion that he will be the Chiefs fantasy scoring leader this week is simply because I'm just not positive.  He is starting for me in both leagues over guys like Gio Bernard, Jeremy Hill and Danny Woodhead. I'd being lying if I said I wasn't nervous though.  I know what I see on tape and I know how preseason worked itself out, but I can't guarantee that Reid won't stick West in there for more snaps based on packages or game flow, which is why I say it's still muddy.   This is why I won't speak with certainty on the subject, so kudos to you guys who are more sure of it.

And by the way, my Knile Davis comment was nothing more than a joke.  I really don't think there is any chance he out snaps either Ware or West.

I appreciate most of the posts in these boards and even in this thread because guys like you, MOP and many others are more educated on this subject than I am and look at it with an objective mind set.  I just don't understand why some people have to be so pompous about their stance that they simply write off a differing opinion just because it's different than theirs.  It happens often in here and it turns any good discussion into a pissing match.

My advice a few posts earlier in this thread was start Ware this week and if West turns out having a larger role and eating too much into his production than change it up next week.  I would not advise starting West this week, but I personally won't be completely convinced of the workload share until I see how it pans out over a week or two.  Thanks again for your post proving you can have a strong opinion while keeping an open mind.

Edit to add: If West had been fully healthy all preseason and Ware still had the workload he received, I would be much more inclined to endorse him this week.  So in my mind Ware got his preseason workload by default which is why I'm leery about how much West will be involved.  If I'm wrong I'll come back here and let you know that I worried for no reason.

LOL.  Ware is like 50% owned in Thursday DFS tourneys.  Sucker born everyday, this is full blown RBBC and C. West much better receiver.

stats, watching games, etc.

Ware had 6 catches for 5 yards last season.
I thought you might say that. No offense 99 but you're being thick headed. Ware has made a huge improvement in the passing game.

5/24/Td

10/37/Td, 4/24 rec

9/24/Td, 4/26

That's what he did in about 2-3 drives per game in the preseason....dude had 8/50 in 2 games and you're stuck on the stats from last season...I'm trying to help 99 not lecture. Do what you want but it fees like someone clinging to rosary beads over looking at what is happening plus all the camp reports and beat writers in KC.

Read what I posted above, I was blind sided by this from my thoughts of a month ago, I had to have it explained to me from other owners but once I started reading a llot of the press and watching preseason...he is getting the touches inside the 5 or 10, a TD is worth 60 yds in most of my leagues.

preseason is completely worthless.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.  GL.  Just enjoying watching all the touts hype up Ware, good for me most likely while these suckers all jump on Ware and ruin their DFS lineups.

I'm wrong a lot, time will tell on this one.

Again not true and I will give example.

In Miami, all locals plus those who closely monitor the beat writers could see clearly that when Foster was signed that he was the immediate 1Back, Gase even said he's rolling with the 1s as long as he's healthy. And that culminates in Ajayi being a healthy scratch this weekend, the writing was on the wall in the preseason.

There are instances where preseason for certain positions or skill positions matter and I believe KC is another.

Now if you want to discuss what happens when Charles returns, you're gonna have firmer footing there IMO. Good luck this weekend 99.

i don't really think preseason defined anything in the MIA backfield, once Foster signed he was the bell cow there IMO.  We all see things through our own eyes though and mine are wrong a lot.

For DFS Ware is an awful play regardless, if he does well than it doesn't help much at all since everyone else is playing him.  If he underperforms, which i think he will, it kills your lineups.  Playing Ware is a sucker move this week in DFS IMO.

I can see your not liking Ware in DFS if you feel he will underperform this week.  But in the event he outperforms expectations, you'll need to be in the 50% who started him to stand a chance at winning the week.

I'll probably hedge my bet and do a lineup with him and one without.

I am starting him over Langford, Crowell and/or Hurns, WR. Only need to start 1 RB and I am already starting L. Murray.

I could change based on more additional feedback....this is not set in stone.

I'm just not getting the panic here. It's not like Ware is not going to get the ball.

Unless I'm reading this game wrong, KC should control the game. SD in KC has been a horror show recently and I don't see that much has changed to flip the script. The game script will favor Ware getting many touches and potentially multiple scoring opportunities.

Even Ware's floor is more attractive than my alternatives: J. Hill, Gio, and B. Powell.

Starting him as the RB3/Flex that I drafted him for (with the hope that he becomes a whole lot more).

FYI...MOP wasn't really on the Ware train until I wrote the Exploit thread and asked around from some of the FBGs both staff and posters, it's OK if you feel blindsided by Ware(I was), it doesn't make you a terrible owner. But I would encourage you to keep an open mind the first couple weeks. It feels like Ware has the most talent but an early fumble or just not finding the holes and then maybe West enters and takes off...we just cannot be so thick headed. So in that sense I agree with our Muddy Water man, there are things that aren't clear especially if we peek into Week 2 and 3 and 4 likely...

But we know Ware starts, feels like Reid would like that to pan out but he has other options in his attack. Why would Reid announce they are just going to use 1 primary even if that's the plan, he wants the Bolts watching film on all 3.
My most important question about this issue is:

Did you just go third person?

:pics:

i mean people realize that the Chiefs are just saying things to keep SD off balance ...right?  why show your hand until kick off ? Its the Ware show ...common sense dictates it

Have him in 4 leagues, starting in all 4.

Over Gio in 2, a Cuff for JC in 1 and the other is basically my (WR heavy)"junk in the trunk" RB core league, Ware being my 1?

Could start him over Martin but squarely falls into the "getting cute" category.
I benched CJ Anderson for Ware--and I'm regretting it.   I'm still big on Ware and I'm going back and forth between him and Jeremy Hill.   I think I'll probably roll with Ware over Hill just because I feel like I've already committed to him by benching CJ--but I'm not sure if I could bench Martin for him.  That's a tough call.

I have J. Hill vs. Ware and I'm not even considering Hill.

Hill...who most likely will have a split with Gio that is similar to Ware/West has to run into the NYJ wall of a line...on the road. Shapes up as a Gio game especially since the NYJ give up a ton of receptions to RBs.

Ware...is not running into a wall today. He's at home against what should be a soft SD D.

While anything could happen, this is a no brainer decision for me based on matchups.

I totally get you and that's exactly why I benched a guy like CJ Anderson for Ware.  CJ was going against what I thought would be a very solid Defence--just like Hill is this week.   Just like you said--anything can happen--so you kinda have to go with your gut instinct. My gut instinct is in line with yours--I'm probably going to go Ware--but I would not be in the least bit surprised to see Hill go for 100 plus yards and a td.    I could see Cincy really force the running game.  Hill might not have an efficient game--but I could see him getting a lot of volume.

The only thing you can do is apply your logic consistently, make your decision, and hope for the best.

##### definitely does and will happen.

And if Hill outproduces...big time silver lining because if he can run on the NYJ he can run on anyone. Good news for our fantasy teams.

Reports Ware is warming up with the starters. No reports of West doing anything.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Sticking with him over Forte and already over Benjamin.

Have him and Forte in over J. Matthews at TB and flex in ppr.

Hoping for the best that he can get me some points til i get Bell back in the ppr league

I'm in the same boat with regards to waiting for Bell. Its a perfect spot for the next 2 weeks at least. Week 3 I'm not sure if he'll be startable if JC is back healthy.
