Thanks for your post MOP. First thing I'll say is I'm also in the pro-Ware camp. Not sure if I came off as something else with my posts but I'll make that clear right away. I'll credit Matt Waldman for turning me on to him a couple years back. Ive owned him in one league since Seattle first signed him and picked him up in another league last year during the San Diego game. I love the kid's tape and I've never argued his talent. I'm not even sure anyone in this thread is arguing his talent. The argument is mostly about how the usage will be split to start the season between Ware and WestI would encourage you to watch more clips of Ware and as many of his touches as you can...also should be noted his 4 receptions last year is very misleading, he has worked hard to improve and actually caught several balls in preseason.
Now let me help clear some mud because you just saying it's mud doesn't make it true, let me help you and just keep an open mind, mine is.
Reid said Ware will start, that's a fact not speculation. Reid ALSO said West and Davis will see action...how much or how many touches was not really clear so that part is muddy. But usually when you announce a RB like Ware is starting...Reid wants the best of Ware so he says yeah, I'm playing all 3 backs but Ware is starting.
-MOP believes(not a fact) that Reid will use Ware extensively and as long as he doesn't stall or fumble I think he will see about 2 out of every 3 drives on Sunday, workhorse even with a ceiling for half the touches and San Diego, this should be a win for the Chiefs.
Ware 15/75/Td plus 20 yds rec
West 10/45 plus 10 rec
Davis 5/15 yds...I'm just assuming he doesn't go off with his touches in the 2nd half once they are nursing a lead.
Now what do you think is going to happen based on the beat writers, Reid, national media, what you got?
My reasoning for not pushing my opinion that he will be the Chiefs fantasy scoring leader this week is simply because I'm just not positive. He is starting for me in both leagues over guys like Gio Bernard, Jeremy Hill and Danny Woodhead. I'd being lying if I said I wasn't nervous though. I know what I see on tape and I know how preseason worked itself out, but I can't guarantee that Reid won't stick West in there for more snaps based on packages or game flow, which is why I say it's still muddy. This is why I won't speak with certainty on the subject, so kudos to you guys who are more sure of it.
And by the way, my Knile Davis comment was nothing more than a joke. I really don't think there is any chance he out snaps either Ware or West.
I appreciate most of the posts in these boards and even in this thread because guys like you, MOP and many others are more educated on this subject than I am and look at it with an objective mind set. I just don't understand why some people have to be so pompous about their stance that they simply write off a differing opinion just because it's different than theirs. It happens often in here and it turns any good discussion into a pissing match.
My advice a few posts earlier in this thread was start Ware this week and if West turns out having a larger role and eating too much into his production than change it up next week. I would not advise starting West this week, but I personally won't be completely convinced of the workload share until I see how it pans out over a week or two. Thanks again for your post proving you can have a strong opinion while keeping an open mind.
Edit to add: If West had been fully healthy all preseason and Ware still had the workload he received, I would be much more inclined to endorse him this week. So in my mind Ware got his preseason workload by default which is why I'm leery about how much West will be involved. If I'm wrong I'll come back here and let you know that I worried for no reason.
