Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (2 Viewers)

Ware is between 35-45th overall dynasty asset moving forward with a chance to move even higher. If things break right for him and he stays healthy he could break into the top 15 overall rankings to start next year.......

I don't see how anyone is putting much stock in Charles right now. It's like buying milk the day before the expiration date from a store whose refrigerators are known to be kept warm.

Multiple serious knee injuries on a RB turning 30 this season and with some mileage, surrounded by odd reports of him not coming along the way folks hoped.

And he's practicing with the scout team?  Something is going on with that injury they aren't telling us.

I just read a stat that Charles only has two 100+ yard receiving games in his entire career. It's kind of crazy that Ware already has one. I suppose the game itself was crazy but still it's quite rare for a RB to have that kind of a game in the air. Only four RBs had 100+ yards receiving all of last year.

I think most of us in redraft leagues drafted Ware pretty low.  I got him in the 11 round.  At that time he was my 5the RB.  He has started since day one and has provided me with a great set of RB's.  We start 3 RB's (weird but true) and I have Anderson and Forte with Ware as my third starter.  I certainly can't complain even if it is a RBBC later on.
Wait. there's only been one game...

Has any RB over 29 successfully returned to elite status after two major knee surgeries?
Not sure about knees, but Curtis Martin comes to mind.

Edit to add: We also have better technology today than ever before, the coach is not rushing him back and I dont believe any team in the NFL can win with just one back. Ware will wear.

That's fine but that's not what you stated in that post.

People value Elliot over Ware because Elliot doesn't have to compete against an all-pro for touches even though ALMO looked leagues better than Elliot last week.

If I knew Ware would be the lead back from here on out I'd rather own him over Elliot.

Honestly, it seems odd to me that you're picking a fight with an RB that totaled 200 yards from scrimmage on 18 touches. How do you watch that and say "I'm going to bet against this guy."
Because he owns Charles and pissed off he may never be the same back again and Ware is emerging in a big way.

And this is why he will get at least one touch per game after Charles comes back
Which, according to Schefter (per Rotoworld), will be next week.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jamaal Charles (knee) is expected to make his season debut against the Jets in Week 3.
That means the Chiefs won't have him for Week 2, which was widely expected after Charles was listed as doubtful on the team's injury report. Spencer Ware will have another full workload on Sunday, though it will come without two of his starting guards. He'll also be facing a tough Houston front seven. Coach Andy Reid has been noncommittal about Charles' role going forward. We're guessing he'll share work with Ware. Sep 18 - 8:14 AM

Yeah I'm thinking closer to 5 touches next week if he even makes it on the field and then 10 the next week. Ware's probably a safe start until after the week 5 bye. Then depending how they split up the work both will be flex starts as the season goes forward.

Yeah so who's starting JC next week when he comes back?
I guess it all depends on who your other choices are at Rb.

for me, I'll have the luxury of keeping Charles on the bench in week 3 to take a wait and see approach if I want to.

But really ill base it off of his week at practice.  Is he practicing in full and taking contact with the ones for week 3?  If so I'll play him in week 3 BC he is Jamal Charles and he can turn 12-15 touches into fantasy gold.

I don't think anyone who owns Charles really expects him to get going until after the week 5 bye.

Regarding the match-up @ HOU..

According to homers losing Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is kind of a big deal, KC is 0-4 when he sits. Both back-up guards did see a lot of play last year so they don't expect a drastic drop-off in play but I drop-off none the the less.

Still, if you watched Langford's touches from last week he left a fair amount of yards on the field. He was getting taken down by arm tackles/first defenders where I'm pretty confident Ware would have broken through and picked up a couple of extra yards. Langford also managed a TD.

I'm not expecting some huge day on the ground but I think in PPR he has a pretty safe floor.

Hope you benched him today ,LOL

Ware fumbled to end one drive, then West in for final drive of the half and broke a 28 yard run, making multiple defenders miss. Not a good look for Ware so far today.

West getting run after the costly Ware fumble...Chiefs can't get Charles back soon enough.

Looks like the time to sell Ware high has come and gone.

He's out-touching West 10-7 at this point.  No idea why people think Charles won't be able to take at least half the pie (if he's healthy).

At first the thread title annoyed me because it was obvious hyperbole, now it's a symbol of those in this thread that fell for week 1 overhype...by all means keep the title.

He was WIDE, WIDE open in the end zone and Alex Smith didn't even see him.

Still has 100 all-purpose yards.

Um...You realize the title was from last year, when Charles and West were injured, right?

I always chuckle at the in-game overreaction.

Ware is now at 105 combined yards rushing/receiving and has two catches and a fumble lost.  Not a great day, but a solid day in PPR.

People are saying  that Ware is done after today?  105 total yards from scrimmage on only 12 touches--while two of the main guys on the OL are out--and while Smith had an absolutely terrible game.   Yes--Ware did fumble--but he also could have had a much bigger game if Smith was even halfway decent.  He was wide open on a couple instances.  Put it in perspective--he had 18 more yards from scrimmage today than EE on half the number of touches---and EE put it on the ground twice (and lost one fumble).    People calling Ware droppable need to invite me into their fantasy leagues. Lol.

He's not done by any means but Charles does make things iffy
