Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (3 Viewers)

Wish the Chiefs would just give Ware a GL carry up the gut.  They run a freaking QB option to the short side. Yuck. 

 
Looked like a TD to me.  I am shocked they overturned the call on the field there. Looked like he was still holding onto the ball when it hit the piylon. 

 
Ware played well against a very tough run D.   Watching several replays of the goal line play--it looks to me that he starts off bobbling the ball a bit as he starts going down--but then gathers and controls it--and when he reaches out to tap the pylon--it gets loose.  I'm not sure how they could or would overturn the ruling on the field--but this wouldn't be the first time there was a questionable call in the end zone.

I said it a few weeks ago, but it bears mentioning again.  Ware owners should have sold high on him the Charles owners after week 1.  

If you own ware this is your last chance to sell him to the Charles owner in your league and get any kind of real return before Charles comes back and starts dominating backfield touches again.  Ware seems to be doing much of his damage through the air too.  That's going go away to a large extent when Charles rounds into form.  

Im speaking from the perspective of a Charles owner who doesn't own ware here. 

I want ware on my team but I'm less inclined to pay up for ware now after week 3 with Charles' return imminent and ware not lighting the league on fire as much after week 1.  We saw more of a committee approach after week 1.   

I offered Crowell to the ware owner before and after week 1.  He declined.  Now he won't be able to get Crowell from me.  And he will be coming to me offering ware once Charles comes back.  

If he is smart he will do that now while Charles' situation is still a bit muddy.  

Once I see Charles practicing with the 1s and he's a go I couldn't care less about ware.

Chiefs are 2-1. 

-The tea leaves IMO are Charles and Ware will be splitting time for probably the rest of the season. Until Charles can carry a full workload or is practicing with the 1s and getting all the practice reps, then maybe I'll think Ware is worthless. What if Charles tweaks something when he is trying to return?

-KC can't really throw the ball well, Alex Smith forces their hand to utilize their backs a little more than other teams. 

-This is a far cry from Priest/LJ circa **** Vermeil era.

His days as an rb1 or a high end rb2 might be over--but I do think that his days as an rb3/flex are just starting.  Also--the moment Charles comes back--he also instantly becomes one of the best handcuffs in the game.     He's basically another version of DeAngelo Williams--which isn't all that bad.

Well, besides the fact that if Bell is out Deangelo gets 25 touches per game.  If Charles is out, Ware gets 15.

Charles can easily get injured again.  Ware can get injured too.  So can any player.  I agree that Charles has earned himself somewhat of an injury prone label but he's healthy now and the kc offense is better with him in there. He's got the all time ypc in the history of the NFL.  He's special.  

Im not saying ware will be worthless when Charles comes back.  He will be a high value handcuff with flex value week to week.  

But I have a good stable of RBS.  Charles will just be a turbo post to that.  I'll take whatever production he gets me this season.  Whether it's 3 games or the rest of the season without injury.  If he gets injured again, the guys my league can have fun with ware.  

Meantime, he will have to deal with holding onto a player that isn't a must start anymore and wait for a Charles injury.  Upper hand goes to me.  

Happy to still trade for ware but not willing to give up a ton.

Ware had 21 touches to Deangelos 12 today.   Let's also not forget that we had a chance to see Leveon in the preseason and are confident that he looks smooth and healthy.  Nobody has any idea how Charles looks--so I'd say that ambiguity favors Ware marginally.   If somebody wants to say that Deangelo is better than Ware--I won't argue--but to assume that the gap between them is moderate to big  at this point in time is a shot in the dark at best.  

 
Funny how that one close play changed the narrative so much. If the call on the field stands, its a 14 point day (standard) and Ware is RB12 for the week.
