Staff vs the Message Board (1 Viewer)

Tick - in the above breakdown you have Doctor Detroit listed twice (auction and FFOTC) and I don't see Kev (who should be in Survivor)
:goodposting: First thing I noticed.

Anyway we need to do this prior to Thursday June 22nd since I'm going on vacation that day for two weeks. I live in Germany so 9 PM sucks but I'll work that out. Just let me know where you need me because I need to get into the numbers.
If you stay in FFTOC, there's no draft, so no date you need to be available.

I've never done this so I like the challenge.Plus there is NO WAY IN HELL, I'd let Bagger get my spot.

Both Kev and BassNBrew said they would be fine in either auction or survivor - I'll leave it up to them to decide which of them goes where. I put Kev in auction just to pick something for the proposal, but that would be an easy swap without affecting anyone else if both want to trade.

Scheduling might decide that, though... 4th of July could be a mess.

I'm in three heavy $ auction leagues this year. I need a change of pace and some sanity. Plus the draft times are bad for me so everyone is happy. GO TEAM!

I don't have a way to set up a forum, unfortunately.  I'm hoping someone else does.

At first glance, it appears nobody wants to do the FFTOC.

Dang, I need a spreadsheet or something to keep track of everyone's preferences.
 Ill handle all 6 spots.

Hell, Ill even just run 5 spots against the Staff's 6 and beat em.
IN :hifive:

Now I'm just hoping Chase Stuart is on the other side of the line. :football:

Stupid question,

Where are the draft dates?
TBD still I think. I'd like to see the staff team and their assigned leagues ASAP so we can strategize and prey on their respective weaknesses. ;)

We are actually open for any draft dates / times. Our big requirement is that I want all of this wrapped up before we go pay (July 15th). I agree that July 4th week is going to be bad so maybe we skip that week?

Yes, still to be determined. Once the lineups are firmed up tomorrow night, we'll only need to get six schedules to match for survivor and six schedules to match for auction, so it should be fairly easy to pick some dates.

Do we have a board yet to discuss things? We know the Mods/Staff have secret boards so do we have ours yet? The auction team needs to discuss things.

Very solid survivor crew...I've had first hand experience drafting will all these guys except Duckboy. There's a good chance we take this portion of the competition.
Looks like the murder's row of survivor.

Quick question for DD about how you arrived at this...1. Sacrificial lambs?

2. FBG employees on probation?

3. Staff members that forgot you like starch in your drawers?

I am setting up a Google Board tonight for the message board. If y'all can PM or e-mail me at jdoggydogg@hotmail.com

I can invite you to the private forum.

I have to say...it's a huge disadvantage for Dodds to compete in the auction format with his projections posted on the homepage.

I am fine with FFTOC, but if someone wants out of the auction, I'll be happy to switch.

I was torn between the auction format and the survivor format. I'm looking forward to seeing the auction values that come out of this.

Excellent point. How does this change your strategy David?
It's all good. Auctions are more about effectively using your cap space as much as anything. I am not worried about everyone knowing about what I will pay.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I have compromising pics. Now. Let's never speak of this again.

Man, looks like none of the good FBG staff wanted FFTOC either. ;)

I'll give you Dodds atrategy.Bid up the stud RBs early to burn up messageboard cap space. You guys need to hold firm on the values here and stick DD with one of these over priced studs as it will kill his overall strategy. Bid quick and then stop bidding. He'll be watching bid times to decide when to bail. He prefers to build his teams with several RB2s at discounts when cap space for the other teams is gone and load up on WRs. Manning will probably go for something stupid like $35 and DD will try to get a combo of Green, Delhomme, and McNair for a total of $10.

Dodds does not bid up RB 2's... he bids up RB 1's and then gets stuck using $140 of his cap space on 4 starting RB's. You mean to tell me his strategy has not changed?

this is a good question. I'm guessing that it will be H2H since that's the way he ran Survivor I last year. So, whichever team finishes with the most points in a given week will be 11-0 while the low scoring team will be 0-11. Best record at the end of the year wins.

Yup. He'll try to hold some cash in reserve so he can start nominating his favorite mid-rounders at $2 when everyone else is down to their last few dollars, and so he can pick off his favorites.

You can count on 3 RBs out of the gate for Shick! He's also generally lost after round 10 unless he can take his shoes off.

LOL at all the scouting reports coming in. You'd think this was the Super Bowl.

Would it be possible to know why a person got selected?. That way those of us who were not would know what to work on for next year.

I agree but isn't this auction strategy 101? Pretty much what I try to do and it usually works. Or is it? ;)

Taking that one step further, I always thought it would be cool for others to view the live draft as it happens. I wonder if FBG's will ever get to that point where they're selling pay per view admission prices to check out the live MB vs. Staff competitions? Maybe I'll stop with my next one of these :banned: .

Yes this is correct. It's best ball. Everyone's scores for the week are compared and you end up with a record somehwere between 11-0 and 0-11. Best record at the end of 16 weeks is the winner.

Cool. I like that format.

I expect this auction to be very tough. I have not settled on my strategy yet. But yes what was outlined is an approach I have been known to use before.
