STAR WARS: Episode 7 (All-Time #1 opening box office.) (1 Viewer)

The biggest problem with TPM is the pacing/editing.

There are many, many shots that are just one or too beats too long and it throws off the whole thing.

I liked the prequels. There, I said it. Even Episode I. Even Jar Jar.

I didn't Lord of the Rings like them. They did not measure up to expectations. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching them - multiple times - and will watch them multiple more times in the future. If Disney puts out something even 25% better than the prequels, it will be a stunning success in my world.
I agree. :bag:

Hayden can't act, but it's more funny to me than anything. I have grown fond of the prequels as well. Except for one thing that continues to and will continue to bug me and that's having R2 and C3P0 in them. And R2 can ****ing fly? Seriously? C'mon man.

That's my biggest complaint. Would have liked some more Darth Maul too.

that's a valid complaint to me

doubly so because R2 and 3PO were basically comic relief

I'd usually rather watch the prequels than watch LOTR again.

I am by no means a prequel hater. I re-watch them as much as the original 3, but this statement goes too far :)

Hmmm. I wonder if they thought the script was a cluster and are trying to save it or what.
yeah this does not sound good to me in terms of the original script. I wonder what happened.....

The good news is that at least its not Lucas taking over the writing duties :)
I'm hoping there was some kind of time conflict rather than there needing a big re-write. They need to keep Damon Lindelof as far away from this as possible. His Prometheus re-write was way worse than the original script.

When they announced the date, that should have worried us.

Very real chance this thing stinks. Disney wants a movie, no matter what. Hopefully someone can get a decent script together.

I'm going into this with zero expectations. In fact I expect a cluster f. So if it's even half decent I'll be happy.

Man that is a loooooooooong time off. You guys have quite a while to fret over how much you think it's going to suck.

Not me. Highly looking forward to all the rumors to official casting to the teaser to the first full trailer.

I have no high expectations outside of knowing I will enjoy it like I have the first 6. I kind of feel for people who high standards allowing them to only enjoy so few movies.

If that's the only thing that Disney screws up then I'm all for a Christmas opening.

Does this mean there will be a cheesy SW Memorial Day Holiday special?

Looks like the release date and the sudden change in writers were linked together. This also explains why we are not getting a May release

So a good writer wanted to take his time and instead, Disney cares more about a date than the story, so we get a rushed script.
At the end of the day it's a business. Things have to happen in a relatively timely fashion to make money. Nearly two years of development isn't really a rush,

Thats more or less my read.

Of course this isn't a fly by night organization. They just sunk a Billion into this franchise, the Mouse aint going to let it suck too bad.

They've been trumpeting 2015 since this was announced. No way they were going to move it to 2016 or later.

Yea, I get that. I just would like to hear some backstory on what happened here.

I don't think there is a lot of back story. It seems pretty clear that Arndt was not going to finish the script on time to everyone's satisfaction and Disney put their foot down and said 2015 or bust. Abrams go them to settle on a very late 2015 release with a change of writers to get it done in time.

The only thing I am uncertain of is if Disney agreed to a mid 2016 release, would Arndt still be the writer.

Yea, but WHY was it taking so long? Re-writes? Changes in story? Disney, Lucas, or JJ not liking what he wrote so he had too many changes etc.?

A lot of money riding on this movie. Its the deciding factor between a new stream of films every other year or falling flat on your face with a wasted billion dollar buy. They want to make sure there are no mistakes or delays.

The Imperial officer in Return of the Jedi who says, "We're not going to attack?", could not be more gay.

Is that #7 or separate from #7.

As bad as Lucas butt ####ed the two trilogies they would probably be better off doing films like this similar to how Marvel movies do it.

Thank god disney has this or the next one would have been "Ewoks. The musical" under Lucas.

A movie about Boba Fett will print money.
