STAR WARS: Episode 7 (All-Time #1 opening box office.) (1 Viewer)

Separate from Episode 7. The plan is for a Star Wars movie every year with the "Episode X" movies being every two years and a 'solo' flick in between.

Cautiously optimistic about a Boba Fett Han Solo Lando Calrissian back story tie in with all of their movies.

We’ve already heard that J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan’s rewrite of Star Wars Episode VII is ready to go, and it sounds like the old gang could be back in the Falcon within a few months — at least, according to Carrie Fisher.

While promoting her upcoming cameo on CBS's The Big Bang Theory (set for Jan 30), Fisher revealed she, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are expected to suit up and start shooting the upcoming Star Wars sequel in March or April. That’s right — actual, real-life filming should apparently be rolling within the next 2-3 months. Folks, it’s really happening.

As for what we can expect from the old Rebel stars? As usual, Fisher was more than happy to toss out a few thoughts about what we might see. One idea: “I’d like to wear my old [cinnamon buns] hairstyle again — but with white hair. I think that would be funny.” Hmm, that’s an ... interesting direction.

Though everyone involved is playing coy about the new film, Fisher has always been a bit of a loose cannon, and it’s nice to see she’s still dropping some good Star Wars details. This schedule also seems to line up with reports that Abrams’ rewrite of Episode VII focuses heavily on the old cast (Ford, Hamill and Fisher), since it sounds like they’ll be clocking in right when things are expected to ramp up.

I read somewhere that this will be a "new" Boba Fett, in that someone kills the Boba Fett from E2, steals the armor, and assumes the name. Apparently Kasdan didn't like the clone origin story, so this is how he's taking it a different direction.
So will we get a voice change in Empire Strikes Back again?

That would make sense.

Related: did Disney buy the rights to the original trilogy? Can they undo some of the changes Lucas made and release them again?

Yes, Disney bought everything.

Though I can't imagine they'd spend the money undoing minor changes like Boba Fett's voice just to please a minority of fans. Much as we (and I include myself in this) would like to see a lot of that stuff undone, I just don't think they will.

They changed the voice in ESB to match Jangos in the dvds. Also Jaster Mareel was who everyone guessed Boba Fett was before the prequels.

As for his story, while I'd lovr them to go back on the prequels it would confuse too many casual fans. At this point ahowing a young 20 something Fett trying to make his way in the bounty hunter business would be the way to go. Throw in some crossovers from young Han and young Lando and we'd have a nice pg-13 look into the seedier world of Star Wars.

LOS ANGELES — The new "Star Wars" has an official timeline and one confirmed returning character: robot R2-D2.

Director J.J. Abrams will begin shooting in May on "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is set three decades after 1983's "Return of the Jedi," Disney CEO Bob Iger said Tuesday.

Speaking at the company's annual shareholder's meeting in Portland, Ore., Iger said the movie would feature "some very familiar faces along with a trio of new, young leads." Abrams has a penchant for secrecy, and Iger said R2-D2 was the only "official cast member" he would announce.

"Episode VII" is set for release in December 2015.

Iger also said Pixar plans a third "Cars" movie and a sequel to 2004's "The Incredibles."

Got to have R2

Really really excited for this. Abrams Star Trek reboot has been freaking fantastic thus far. The fact my wife is now a new Star Trek fan speaks volumes to how much potential Episode VII has. She found the original crew to be.....pretty cheesy and had no interest in The Next Generation as well. She absolutely loved both new Star Trek movies.

As far as Star Wars she actually mildly likes the original trilogy and found the newer ones decent enough.

I am confident in Abrams hands Star Wars will climb to new heights and we will get far deeper into the Star Wars universe then we ever had before. All kinds of great potential.

Glad to see there is a sequel for The Incredibles in the works.

Cars 3? Not so much.

Funny, that actually has the opposite effect for me. Bye bye Star Wars.

All you nerds are going. Probably multiple times. Stop trying to be hard here.
I only went to the first prequel, it was meh. I skipped the rest and still haven't seen them. I have seen all the originals many times. So no everyone won't go just because you stick Star Wars in the title. The films still have to work.

I don't think they missed your $7.50.

You are in the slight, slight minority there.

And not finishing the series seems kind of silly. For as bad as the first prequel was, they did get better (Revenge of the Sith is a solid flick by any measure) and most importantly behind all the wooden acting and corny dialogue there is a good story about how the Republic was formed. Go download parts 2 & 3 and finish what you started, don't be a quitter.

brohans it would be awesome if they did a movie where they do more of a backstory on chewbacca and r2d2 those were my favorite guys and the worst ever was greedo i just did not like the look of that guy take that to the bank brohans from a bralaxy far away

Where will Episode VII fall in the rankings?

From Best to Attrocious:

Empire

A New Hope

Jedi

Revenge

Whatever Episode II was called it was so terrible I've forgetten

Episode I crapfest

my list flips Revenge and Jedi but other than that it is identical.

Anything better than Episode 2 and I will be very happy.

I am sure they didn't. I am sure I'll see them someday but I am in no hurry don't feel like I am missing a thing.

I'd like to see a bio pic for Chewy.

I know Fett's popularity is huge with the Star Wars fans, but I really don't get it. I don't think the general public cares about Boba Fett and I don't see why they would make a movie focusing on him.

Just my .02

We'll see ya at the theaters.
I will give JJ a chance based on his other performances to date. But that doesn't mean I will go back for more if it sucks. So far I don't have any real problems with anything they are talking about doing. What little there is.

If the general public doesn't know Boba Fett then they probably aren't going to see Star Wars in the first place.

And if they know, and would see, a Star Wars film but somehow don't know Boba Fett then they will still see it because it will have the Star Wars name attached to it.

Either way the general public would go see it.
