The chromed out storm trooper with the high collar noted at your link is interesting. If a light saber is just light, maybe a mirrored or chromed surface would just reflect the light? Are these dudes impervious to light sabers? Pretty cool concept if so (including protecting the neck area from beheadings) but then again if it were that easy you would think someone would have come up with that generations ago.

Light saber is not light though. Its heated plasma in a controlled focus burst.

The visuals in the trailer look really cool. The movie is still likely to disappoint though. Just seems too ambitious that not only are they going to come up with a decent original story but also that the geezers from the first 3 movies are going to have anything left in the tank to still be convincing. I love Harrison Ford but he's really been mailing it in the past few years.

I'm also a tad bit worried about the three old guys. My hope is that they are all super motivated to not screw it up. Seeing Han Solo in that preview is still a bit weird, but hey everyone gets old.

I think Hamill and Fisher will nail it. My concern is old man Ford/Solo trying to be too much like the Han Solo of old.

And of course, with new characters, you never know. We may get another Hayden, which won't help.

It's hard for me to get excited about that black guy (don't know his name). In both previews he looks scared/frightened out of his mind every time they show him. I don't know what he's going through, but it can't be good.

The new bad guy is going to turn out to be Ezra from Rebels. My total guess

Guess I'll have to watch rebels. My kids aren't old enough to have it hold their interest.

Its actually really good and ties into the storyline perfectly. Lots of easter eggs and clues about what has happened and is goign to happen. The more they let out about Ezra the more they are setting him up to be the bad guy. Too many clues for it not to happen

Ezra has seemed to grow and become a better person with purpose. It's Kanan that they appear to be foreshadowing a future with the dark side. Maybe some action/decision in the future by Kanan will turn Ezra? IDK.

I hope it's Better than Ezra. That would be good.

I don't like the .5 second< shots from the movie and the 5-6 seconds of dead space between them. Isn't that how they made M. Night Shyamalan movies look so much better than they actually were?

Disagree. That is not the only way for it to be good. I love that it looks to be a blend of the old guard while introducing what is next for the series. Would instantly be one of the best of the series if it has more practical effects and even above average acting.

He didn't have much to do with Lost after a short bit besides producing/ideas. I think you are in the minority about the Trek movies.

The problem with the last three wasn't that we knew were it was going. It was how they got there.

• The Phantom Menace is unnecessary...and its bad in the sense that Lucas was trying, more or less to shoehorn it into the "standalone movie" that A New Hope was.
• Hayden Christanson was a bad actor. You needed a guy to nail the dichotomy of emotions Anakin was supposed to be feeling.
• They killed off their best visual villain in the first one. No need to replace Maul with Count Dooku.

The new one has promise....I just don't want to see a fapfest homage to the original ones. If the characters work organically in the story...that's great. If they're just shoehorning them in for name recognition/pop....the story will suffer.

This movie is going to rock. As opposed to the last three Star Wars films, which sucked. JJ Abrams knows how to make good movies and he knows how to direct actors. Lucas simply does not know how to direct actors.

I dont think it will be shoehorned in. My assumption is it has to so with some of their kids since the force has to be passed down somehow since the Jedi were wiped out.

Hayden isnt a bad actor. He and others involved with those bad couple movies are fine in other things. Problem always has been that Lucas has no ear for dialogue and doesn't seem to be good at directing actors. More of an ideas man, and it is good that he handed ofc the franchise.
