I want to take my wife to see this on that first Saturday but I'm not sure if I'm going to be in Orlando or at the beach nor what time we'll be able to go. If it's sold out all day, I'm liable to end up wandering around watching her spend all my money on gifts for her giant family. So knock it off. TIA.

The last 3 releases were sold out well in advance in the Twin Cities, yet my Dad and I walked up opening day and purchased tickets without any issues in our "small town".

I have a feeling that most theaters are going to commit a few extra rooms for this as the day gets closer. No reason to have less then a 1/4 filled room for some geriatric flick when people are clawing at the doors to get in

I imagine every theatre will be 50% Star Wars for the first two weeks. I'm sure they have contractual obligations to other studios to show their crap, but they'll find a way around that.

The studios determine what gets shown, so when a blockbuster like this comes out theyll send extra hard drives of star wars to the multiplexes so they can show in multiple theaters. The other studios wont release much else so the deck is cleared. There will be your normal filler movies but an 8 plex will have 2-4 screens on star wars for 2-3 wks. In retuen the studios will take 65% of all ticket sales, which is why your $1 popcorn costs $9.

yes watch the movies before you see number 7.

If you watch in chronological order, some moments in 1, 2 and 3 will be reduced since they assume you have seen 4, 5 and 6

If you have a choice for the first time viewing, I would recommend to watch in released order, 4,5,6,1,2,3

On a second viewing it probably does not matter, you can make your own choice as to whether to watch chronological or release order.

10 years ago there was a round table discussion that included Kevin Smith, Stan Lee, JJ Abrahams, and Mark Hammil.

During the discussion, Mark talked about how he begged Lucas to make his character evil in ROTJ, that he should come close to the brink of killing a beloved character if possible. He said Lucas just waved him off, but it was interesting that he said this in front of JJ since some of the rumors are that Luke is evil in this one.

While 1 and 2 are not great movies, I still think they are worth watching once. Some of my favorite scenes in the entire series come from those two movies

The darth maul fight with Obi and Qui Gon is the best in the 6 movies IMO. Even a tiny moment like Yoda using the force to pick up his cane after fighting the Count like a whirling pin ball is memorable in 2

Looks like Netflix has them on DVD - could sign-up for DVD service (not sure how much of a commitment that takes), but that could be an inexpensive way to watch them all in a month or 2.

When I worked at a movie theater back in HS, I remember seeing a profit breakdown on everything sitting on the manager's desk one day. They made 450% profit on a bag of popcorn. They only made 8% on a ticket.

Bingo. They call this the Machete Order. It is a two movie gap between 5 and 6 but is the most logical order IMO. Ep. 1 is worthless and really adds nothing to the plot. The only reason to watch is for the Darth Maul vs Obi Wan & Qui Gon Ginn light saber battle.

Skip I altogether...... go IV,V then II,III and then finally VI.

Trust me on this. It pops the story better. Just think of II and III between V and VI as a flashback that Vader is having.

I don't know if it's the case, but they used to get more if the movie was second run. I actually think that percentage flipped and the theatre got most of the ticket revenue.

if I didn't work, have a wife, or anything else going in my life, I might try it...mostly to see how much popcorn, hot dogs, candy & soda I could consume in 18 hours without dying.

I am not arguing your choice for a rewatch, I just don't think it is good for a first time viewer. It makes perfect sense for someone who already knows the flow.
