What's this dude thinking?
They are throwing so many clues to Luke being Kylo Ren that its got to be a red herring right? Like Communism?
I'm saying that Ren is Luke's son. "The rumors are true" line......the idea that Ren is tied into Vader.....that Anakin turned bad, Luke stayed good and now his son will be bad. To me, Ren as just some randon intergalactic Vader fanboy doesn't work. He has to be tied to the family in some way.

Ky-lo.

sKYwalker - SoLO.

He's Han and Leia's son, IMO.

The rumors are true line seems more like Han confirming what seems like myth to people who weren't there.

Han became a believer after he was skeptical so I'm ok with him turning the corner on the Jedi, etc.I just really hope that Luke hasn't turned else that sorts of ruins the middle 3 movies for me where he took down the dark side. That would be a difficult story for me to embrace.

Yeah I don't want Luke going dark.

If Han marries Leia then it stands to reason that he learned a lot more about the Jedi and the Force in the time until this movie.

This is a series that had the Death Star destroyed twice so it shouldn't surprise anyone if Luke turns to dark side only to be redeemed by his son.

Something like this wouldn't shock me, but I really hope that this isn't the plot. I'd be fine with his son turning, but not Luke.

Aren't they building a new Death Star in the new movies or did I hear that wrong?

Luke will have gone crazy and be behind the rise of the first order somehow.
If he has mental issues over what happened, goes into deep cover, and his actions cause for the rise of the dark side somehow, I'm good with that; just not him personally turning.

My guess, Luke is in the Obiwan role this time and took it upon himself to train Leia and Hans kid. It didn't turn out so well.

Crazy over what - saving the universe and redeeming his father?
That's a good question. You'd think he would be happy that he turned Darth Vader back into the good person that was his father. Not sure why he would be so upset to go into exile, contribute to his kid (who's the mother?) turning to the dark side, etc.

Maybe Obi Wan and Yoda keep appearing to Luke at inappropriate times just because they're bored, and... OOPS it drive Luke insane.

Obi Wan was upset that Luke stepped out and had a child and showed human emotions.

Just as long as Yoda didn't show up while Luke was making his child.

Love you long time she does.

That could even turn Marvin Gaye to the dark side.

I'm in this camp too. What he wants to finish is killing the last of the Jedi (Uncle Luke), which is why Luke won't be seen until the end of the movie when Kylo Ren kills...his father, Han. That's whose body Rey (Kylo Ren's sister?) is crying over.

I may stop reading this thread until I see the movie. :)

I know everyone is just guessing but some of you guys are so good at this I think you are likely very very close to some of the hidden plot lines.

And I'm with you on that one. Could both Chewy and Han bite it in this one??

I'm thinking this too.lol

this is going to be an epic home run.
I agree. It just looks like a real movie...in the Star Wars universe. Not a CGI-filled fake fantasy world.
The ships flying through the air look incredible. I can not wait for this to come out.
The shot of the ties with the sun behind them is badass. My new wallpaper. :nerd:
And you both chose heavy CG scenes as examples. Irony. :)

Goes to show that fake vs. real doesn't always equal cg vs. practical effects.

Great effects work is great effects work, regardless of whether they're created practically or though computer graphics.

Pure speculation:

That staff thing Rey has is somehow also a light saber.

There is definitely a difference when we are talking humans in the scene. Much more realistic climbing down into a mocked up star destroyer than pretending on a green wall.

I will walk out of the theater if that happens.

after the post-credits scene

Have you guys been following the odd story where Disney is considering removing the Leia bikini merchandise? This is so silly I almost think it is tongue in cheek but here in an article about it.

From what I understood they are not considering it, it's done. They will not license that image anymore.
Who hasn't thought about removing Leia's bikini?

If Yoda is to be believed, Luke was never ready and, notwithstanding his taking down of the emperor (thanks to pops) in Jedi, never really immunized himself from the darkside when he did not complete his initial training. He gave into his hate on the deathstar and maybe it has been festering over the last three decades.

Yoda isn't to be believed because he was part of a failed organization that actually created Darth Vader. If he knew so much about the Force he wouldn't have taken a child away from his mother and left her to be a slave the rest of her life. Seriously, #### the old Jedi.

Vader was inevitable. You can't have light without dark.

Yea...they can reject new submissions, but they can't do anything about existing approved items. Whoever makes them could run 1m units and whatever retailer carries them could load up.

Perhaps Kylo Ren is a clone of the Emperor?

It would be another "borrowed" idea, this one coming from the Dark Empire comic books.
That and dark side Luke (same series) were two of the worst EU ideas. Let's hope they stay buried.

Ya know... just because the "I will fulfill our destiny" is being heard while we are looking at the melted helmet of Darth Vader doesn't mean the sound clip and the video clip go together in the movie. The sound clip may be coming from someone talking about someone other than Vader, and JJ just played it on the helmet scene to deceive everyone.

If I'm Disney I want this to be the biggest movie of all time.

The best to get everyone emotionaly attached to 8 & 9 is to have Han/Chew/Leia/Luke get butchered at the hands of a uber bad guy.

Not saying all of them go down, but I guarantee at least two of them do.

So literally murder our childhood?

I'm ok with any of the original cast dying. In some way I'd rather they just moved away from them. It was one of the weaknesses of the new Star Trek movies thinking that they had to have Spock in them or have a story line in the second movie that mirrored the original movie series. I get why they do it - many people are attached to those characters - but by the same token the new movies deserve to live their own fate. It was a major weakness of the prequels to have R2 and 3PO in them - they were just wrong in every scene. Didn't need them at all.

Having said that - I feel like it would be a cop out if they kill Luke similarly to the way they killed Obi-Wan. It almost shows a lack of ability to tell a story. It was cool then so let's do it again.

Yeah, but even they cheated. Bones was in the pilot. Scotty made an appearance in season 4 and even Captain Kirk was in their first movie, along with Checkov (although I'm ok with Checkov if you have followed the outside of the movies history of the universe there).

Went 2d. The theater near me only had 1 showing at 10:45pm for 2d but near my old house they had a 9pm. Going to meet up with some old friends and see it.
