What is with 3PO's red left arm in that same scene?
:goodposting: looks weird.

great line

If it seems implausible that a war hero could be forgotten so quickly, try asking the average 20-year-old who Audie Murphy was. Hell, ask a 40-year-old and see what you get.
 Audie received the MOH for events 70 years ago. Luke received the Medal of Bravery 38 years ago.

plus I named my dog after SGT Murphy.

Yeah, and even the moment he received the MOH, nobody outside of the US really knew who Audie was. Certainly people in China, SE Asia, the Middle East, or most of SA or Africa had zero clue since they weren't really involved in the war.

In a universe sized Empire, it would be even easier to understand why your average nobody would have zero clue about who Luke Skywalker was 40 years after the events of ROTJ. Hell, most of the universe probably hadn't even heard much more than rumors about the Battle of Yavin or the Battle of Endor.

"Guy that was involved in the deaths of Vader and the Emperor? Never heard of him."

So a black guy is a stormtrooper and crashes on a tattoine and finds the force and goes on a rampage with Hans daughter?
don't forget about the ewoks
They are back?

And why didn't they melt down that star cruiser for scrap?
If I happened across it, first thing I would have done would have been to highlight it, press square and scrap it. 510,000 steel, yes sir. Thank you very much, that'll build me a lot of walls.

:gang2: Fallout 4 #####.

If that guy never told anyone what happened, how would anyone know?

Actor Tim Rose has just confirmed that he's returning to the Star Wars franchise in the role of Admiral Ackbar for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.Oct 2, 2015
Because Tim Rose, and Tim Rose only, possesses the depth and range to portray the complex character of Admiral Ackbar.

I can remember Star Wars, being 3 yrs old and watching in the movie theater, 1st movie I can remember in the actual theater. My grandmother worked for Sears Roebuck and when she worked there you had to say both names...she made sure I had about every toy including the Falcon from the toy dept in the store. I remember Empire and was scared to death when those hall doors opened and DV stands up and summons that blaster right out of Solo's hand. I didn't love Jedi after the first 45 minutes as much.

-Then came Episode I, saw it midnight sneak preview and almost fell asleep

-Then came Episode II and I definitely fell asleep during that one

-Episode III is actually not bad but it still is not nearly on par with IV and V which is really I and II GD!

I hope this thing rocks and can replay some of that childhood wonder but I still have my doubts. I still feel this big Disney push behind this and it started in the last trilogy with more Worldly casting we'll say so they can appeal to all parts of the globe. Nothing feels as pure as the first of course and I still feel like Empire Strikes Back is the benchmark to which all other Sci-Fi/Fantasy films have to be measured to. In my life the only time I really got that magic back was the first LOTR trilogy where every Christmas for 3 years in a row I knew what my wife and I were doing. We really enjoyed those films at the theater when they were released.

I hope for the best, try not to watch too much behind the scenes stuff so I can go and just watch the movie and hope that it stands on its own. I loved what JJ did with Star Trek and the reboots, I liked both and thought they were outstanding but still a few clicks below a Star Wars experience. But I'm hoping JJ can pull it off. The shots I've seen of Harrison Ford, he looks exactly like I would expect he would at this stage but Chewbacca is really starting to show some wear and tear on that 800 year old frame.

Please be good, doesn't have to be the 2nd coming but please just don't suck.

Just watched parts of episode 3 and it is outrageous how cartoonish it is. Espeically compared to the previews for the new movie.

Another TV spot: (all Finn)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E7bh-H9ZfLQ

I was going to bring it up from the last commercial, interesting new weapon that storm trooper has attached to his arm. Finn, a former storm trooper, fights a storm trooper with a pseudo light saber. Any chance some/all storm troopers are now force users, by way of cloning again? Or just another toy weapon to sell?! ;)

thats the best thing in disneys favor here, Lucas butchered this franchise so badly with the prequels there's an extremely low bar to work from this time/

I'm re watching 1-6 in preparation. I watched 1 last night. It's bad. Real bad. But I totally forgot how bad the plot in 2 was as far as the two love birds falling for each other and Anakin finally waking up one morning and saying "I think I'll go get my Mom".

When I go back and re-watch the previous 6 now, I just skip over I & II. There's really nothing there.

That love story may be literally the very worst acting and dialogue ever committed to film. Beyond cringeworthy.

I never watched episode 3 and left halfway thru episode 2. There's no reason to go back and subject myself to those is there?

My 5yo daughter has been wanting that remote controlled BB8 ever since we saw the commercial. Just picked one up at the airport Brookstone and will surprise her with it tonight. They ain't cheap, but she's going to be psyched.

How much did that thing set you back?

Like $150. And then I just read there is another cheaper version of it for less than half that. :hot:

The second half of episode 2 was ok and all of 3 was pretty good.

You sat through by far the worst 50% of the prequels and missed most of the best stuff (outside of the Darth Maul fight in 1 which is still the best in any of the 6 movies for pure fighting).

1st half of 2 is arguably the worst half of all the 6 movies. Luckily the second half picks up a bit in terms of entertainment.

The writing was so god awful in the first half of 2 that even a decent actress like Portman could do nothing with it.

I agree with your entire statement except this qualification. I think she is hot but not sure she is a good actress. Wish she and Keira Knightly had swapped roles in Episode I.

I didn't mind RoTS. By far the best of the prequels.
I agree. It was 99% of what Star Wars fans wanted. Nobody gave a #### what Darth Vader was like as a boy, or the "tell me all the details" girly gossip crap about how he fell in love.

The first two movies are what it would be like if Breaking Bad dedicated an entire season to what Walter White was like as a boy... and another entire season to how he fell in love with his wife. Nobody would give a ####. The great story of Breaking Bad was how this middle aged high school teacher became Heisenberg. And the great story of the prequel to Star Wars 4-6 was how a Jedi became Darth Vader. Another great story is how Saul Goodman became the lawyer for criminals, and I thank Gilligan for not going back and telling the story of what he was like as a boy and how he fell in love. #### you Lucas for making all us fans suffer through those stories. I'm ashamed that I own them. Part of me still wants them to be good, but honesty requires me to admit they suck.

I kinda don't care how Vader became bad. Not sure why we ever needed that story. I just like them to be awesome bad guys who whoop ###.

I like how the batman movies never addressed this with the joker. He's just insane and he loves to be evil, so enjoy.

Also, don't know how it is on their websites etc but the Disney parks go out of their way to ignore 1-3. But if you want an item from 4-6 you have options for days (I got the 3-d lunch box from episode 4 :excited: )

AOTC is actually MUCH worse than TPM.
Agreed. I stand by that episodes 1 and 2 should have been a single film. The second movie should have had Anakin turn and the final film been all darth vader learning how to be Vader while hunting down Jedi.

Not terrible, especially for an airport store. She love it? And just how cool is it?!
