You didn't see her all dolled up on Kimmel last night did you? She's smokingGoodposting. I don't think she looks all that stunning. A little butch for my tastes. But she can act imo.

Exactly. It's amazing how we start sucking the fun out of things once we become adults. When most people saw the original trilogy - they were kids, and details were not important. Now, details are serious businesstm.
Having said that, I find myself looking at things more critically - it was not until I asked my kids about the movie that I realized its still just a fun romp and worrying about details takes away from the fun.
In 20+ years, my kids will probably be taking kids to see the 5th trilogy and wondering why those movies are not more like this trilogy.
Learned how to live forever, until he was killed by Palpatine/Sidious, which negated the whole "live forever" thing.Wasnt there discussion in one of the movies about a jedi who had cheated death and learned how to live forever
There's a difference between not letting old age get you and being assassinated.Learned how to live forever, until he was killed by Palpatine/Sidious, which negated the whole "live forever" thing.
That always made my head hurt, but just rolled with it.
It should be. But no it's real.Ok 2 new thoughts to kick around:
1. Did Kylo Ren decline to kill Leia early on because he had good in him, or did he realize that Snoke was in his head and wanted to set himself up to look weak in order to gain a strategic advantage over him?
2. Is this a parallel universe from the OT? Discarding the extensive EU cannon could support this theory and explain a lot of the idiosyncrasies that some people are hung up about.
There are a lot of things people are forgetting in their criticism of TLJHawkeye21 said:Why is everyone so surprised by Luke's disappearing death? Yoda died the same exact way and was equally a WTF? moment. How does everyone forget that?
Speaking for myself, I guess it’s because we never got to see Luke really be Luke again. You had that kind of ride with Han. You got 3 minutes of a hologram saber duel Across 2 moviesHawkeye21 said:Why is everyone so surprised by Luke's disappearing death? Yoda died the same exact way and was equally a WTF? moment. Agreed. I had fun seeing the movie. Just wish it was better overall. Because I love Star Wars. Just a ton of fun and I don't take it seriously at all. It's not Star Trek. My complaints are pretty minor. And it is mostly about simply the direction of the characters, the plot choices and the over abundance of obvious forced (as opposed to natural) humor this go around.Exactly. It's amazing how we start sucking the fun out of things once we become adults.
So true. Han Solo was/is my favorite character in the entire Star Wars Universe. And TFA was a nice send off. Hence why I immensely enjoyed the ride. I wanted a nice send off for Luke.....and they were some nice hints of Luke and some nice hints of older more crabby Luke (the milking scene was priceless). The only time I felt the true Luke Skywalker was actually when he finally saw R2 again. I got a little choked up.Speaking for myself, I guess it’s because we never got to see Luke really be Luke again. You had that kind of ride with Han. And thats why I really hope we see the Grey Jedi in 91. There's still good in him. I think that's the whole point. Nobody is all Light or all Dark. It's our choices that make the difference as to which one is our stronger side. That's Luke's Force philosophy.
2. No, IMO
Exactly. Was Obi Wan actually killed by Vader or did he disappear before he gets hit? You don't see any Jedi's fading away when they are killed in any other movie. They lay there just like any other dead person would. I don't see anyone being critical about that.Obi fades away in 4 just as Vader tries to kill him.
he fades just as Vader swingsExactly. Was Obi Wan actually killed by Vader or did he disappear before he gets hit? You don't see any Jedi's fading away when they are killed in any other movie. They lay there just like any other dead person would. I don't see anyone being critical about that.
And Vader looks at the robe laying on the ground like WTF?
You know, I loved guardians of the galaxy, those were fun movies so I don’t think age automatically equals fun going away.Exactly. It's amazing how we start sucking the fun out of things once we become adults.
I enjoyed episodes I-III at the time and still don't mind them but they are not as good as the rest. They just don't give me that same feel as the rest of the movies do. Episode III was pretty sweet and made gave me some different feelings when it was over. I also thought that was going to be the last Star Wars movie ever so it was kind of depressing. You know, I loved guardians of the galaxy, those were fun movies so I don’t think age automatically equals fun going away.
I enjoyed most of my time with this movie basically up to the death of Luke which was unexpected and forces you to revisit his story because the arc is presumably closed
With that said , Did you like episode I-III?
This was one of my disappointments with the movie (which, overall, I liked). I wanted to see Luke be the bad ### Jedi and fight like we saw Anakin and Obi Wan fight in episodes 4-6. Instead, we were given a bitter, sullen, depressed Luke who eschewed the Jedi ways. He was such an optimistic, cheerful person in episodes 1-3 and we never saw any of those characteristics. As someone above also wrote - I didn't like the story-line that Luke, the only Jedi-master left in the Universe and someone who beat Darth Vadar in a light saber battle, was bested by Kylo Ren when Kylo was a young kid. Luke should have been able to kick his ###. Even Obi Wan was able to dominate Anakin when Anakin was young.Speaking for myself, I guess it’s because we never got to see Luke really be Luke again. Kylo bested him? Kylo blocked his swing of the light saber, pulled the building down on him with the force and then got then got the hell out of there (after killing some students and taking some with him). This was one of my disappointments with the movie (which, overall, I liked). edit to fix:Qui Gon learned the Force Ghost thing and presumably taught it to Obi Wan who taught it to Yoda who taught it to Luke.
Dilly dillyGuy1: We can't destroy them because they're faster than us.
Guy2: Then why aren't they actually pulling away from us instead of simply matching our speed?
Guy1: <_< Shut up, Doug.
Guy3: Yes. Shut up, Doug.
Yeah, he bested him. Jedi's don't let people get away that easily. Then, after Kylo runs away, Luke decides to run and hide while letting Kylo join up with Snoke and slaughter innocent people throughout the universe? That doesn't seem like something Luke would do. But that's more a criticism of the story-line started in TFA.Kylo bested him? Kylo blocked his swing of the light saber, pulled the building down on him with the force and then got then got the hell out of there (after killing some students and taking some with him).
I took that whole moment as a rude awaken for Luke. He finally saw that he doesn't have a say in what others do. He saw his own flaws. For the first time since being a Jedi he's questioned what it all means and where his place is in the universe. It's more to the story and more character development, it's just not the way you want it to go.Yeah, he bested him. Jedi's don't let people get away that easily. They have already announced movies 10-12 but from what little has been released they will not continue this specific story line.Personally, I'd love it if they announced 9 isn't the "end of the trilogy", but a new beginning.
Mark Hamill agrees. Not happy with the "new" Luke. This was one of my disappointments with the movie (which, overall, I liked). I'm glad I wasn't the only one that though helms deep on the salt planet.Poe: We can't go in the little ships! They'll be seen!
[Citation needed]: Nu'uh! We have cloaking devices!
Poe: Yippie!
New Order: Ha-HA! We have magic that can see right through your cloaking device...have at you!
Poe: ####. Everyone head for Helm's Deep ASAP!

you're consistent and to each their own. Maybe we just have different bars for fun. I and II are particularly unwatchable to me, getting to the Vader builds save III a bit but its still nothing I'll put on but watch the last 45 minutes. How does a gray Jedi accessorize? Bright or dark outfits? And thats why I really hope we see the Grey Jedi in 9
that is not exactly the order, and I don't feel like contributing to this nerd fest, but the additional training Yoda had for Ben at the end of Ep III was force ghost related... with some Clone Wars cartoon canon prior to that.yeah this is the correct order according to canon.
Although we should note that Qui Gon did not fade away like Ben, Yoda and Luke did. This perhaps leads us to believe that Qui Gon was not ready to go when he was killed where as the other 3 made a conscious effort to let themselves fade.
you are correct, I did not read the post I quoted close enough.that is not exactly the order, and I don't feel like contributing to this nerd fest, but the additional training Yoda had for Ben at the end of Ep III was force ghost related... with some Clone Wars cartoon canon prior to that.
I never got to see Clone Wars. Rebels is a really well made show though. Sad to see it ending but really curious how they handle the two Jedi's.BTW Clone Wars and Rebels are a ton of fun if you have not seen them.
Great stuff.
You gotta check out Clone Wars. Total redemption for the Prequels.I never got to see Clone Wars. Rebels is a really well made show though. Sad to see it ending but really curious how they handle the two Jedi's.
Pretty sure it was a forgotten planet or something that nobody knew the whereabouts of.Who would have ever thought to find Luke on the Jedi island where the jedis trained and the sacred books were kept.
Good thing they had that puzzle hidden away in R2 and the old guy who was family friends with the Solos.
This is how I understood it as well. I don't think Luke even knew where it was and had to search for it. This was Han's line in TFAPretty sure it was a forgotten planet or something that nobody knew the whereabouts of.
I chuckledwhen they had the fat pilotget shot down in the new one. It HAD to be an homage to pork ins.he's no Jek Porkins
The best I can come up with is that the galaxy is a big place. That stuff has bugged me about Star Wars going back to A New Hope - how quickly history is forgotten.
Han doesn't think the Force is real? The Jedi we're running around the galaxy when he was a kid.
Han/Leia/Luke have already passed to myth in Rey's lifetime?
No kidding. How many people know where Iowa is on the map? How many Americans know who the Vice President is? For crying out loud, there are still people who think the earth is flat and that dinosaurs are made up!The best I can come up with is that the galaxy is a big place.
Hell, every so often they do a survey in the US where people can't name the most common things about America so it is not that hard to believe in a massive Galaxy things are gong to be treated as myths if the stories even reached them.
