Star Wars Universe (2 Viewers)

okay, another plot question

why the friendly fire on the Rancor?  because he was climbing buildings?   It kind of pissed me off...I like the Rancor.
It was out of control.  Remember it imprinted on Boba, so it had a bond with him and he had some control over it.  It would have had no problem killing and eating the rest of them

None of it really made any sense. He killed bib fortuna to take over the territory. But then was just alone in the palace. The mods were terrible. Fenec acting was terrible. Boba acting was 50% at best.  The decisions made little sense at every turn. Just a bad way to give boba fett his own show. Ugh.

Boba was kind of a indecisive wuss in this.  Sure he killed poor old Bib and Cad Bane, but it seemed like everytime he decided on a potential course of action, someone would say they should do something else, and he would quickly change his mind.

Wishy-washy Boba is not good Boba.

ETA: From a mindless Star Wars-fun point of view, the last couple of episodes have been enjoyable to watch though.

Thought it was pretty bad overall. Story never made sense. Changed boba fett to a totally different character that didn’t make a lot of sense.  Could go on, but I wont.

Eps 5 and 6 were really good though. Because they were different shows basically.

As someone of advanced years it made a lot of sense to me.  When I was a young man I didn't care much about how my actions affected the lives of others.  I also did things I'm still ashamed of because "that's the way the world works".  As I've aged I gained a better understanding of other people and their cultures.  That empathy is much more fulfilling than being egocentric.  The development made perfect sense to me.

This I agree with.  It probably would have been a big improvement if he had just left his helmet on most of the time.

Agree with this. I feel like they nerfed Boba the same way Marvel nerfed Bucky in Falcon/Winter Soldier. Turned a great tough guy into nothing.

Overall the show was fine, I just like the Star Wars universe, but felt they did Boba a huge disservice. Don't mind if he's a changed man and wants peace, but if he takes over a criminal overlord's territory he's gonna have to have a better plan that what he came up with and be able to kick ###.

I couldn’t make out who was in the bacta tank after the credits.

Never mind, I looked it up. That’s who I expected but it didn’t look like it in the quick glance we got.

Didn't watch Book of Boba Fett. From the highlights, seems like a good decision. I'm at a point now where I don't care what they make anymore. I'm not paying for it. Everyone else that eats this up, enjoy.

I haven't watched yet, but my friend says there apparently was a lot of stuff that they shot that didn't make it into the season for whatever reason.  Seems disappointed with how it all came together.  Still says Obi Wan is everything we ever wanted.
Favreau needs to stay away from writing and directing, I think.  Let Filoni run with it, and just co-show-run, push the boundaries on the Volume and executive produce.

Is “riding the rancor” the new “jumping the shark?”  When he was tossing and squashing the bad guys it was pretty good though.

Sadly I just was never into Boba Fett as a character or actor in this one. And those stupid motorcycle kids were arguably worse than Jar Jar. What was up with the eye piece guy’s spin move attack? Just stupid.

Give me more Grogu and Mando and Amy Sedaris please.

Grogu is going to be evil right?
After watching this, I think it would have been way better if grogu was the big bad in the sequel trilogy (mandalorian gets murdered, he turns to the dark side), or at least the guy who trained snoke. That being said, there are lots of force wielders that are neither Jedi nor Sith in the star wars universe.

Welcome to my ignore list.

;)

Binge watched Eps 2-7 after deciding the series was horrible as of Episode 1. Episodes 2 and 3 were worse than 1 and 4 was a little better. Episode 5 was cool for obvious reasons, and Episode 6 was amazing - that could have been a mini-movie on its own. Then the finale was sort of meh.

It's like the first four episodes were a completely different series, then they used the final three episodes as a bridge to Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Boba Fett was a stiff. Seven episodes with awkward flow/pacing. Such a weird series.

I agree this season was lame overall except for ep5 and ep6. Ep7 was a drop off again.
ep 1-4 = D

ep5-6 = A

ep7 = B-/C+

I have to say I am disappointed in this series.  Everything just seemed off.  Boba was boring as hell.  Most of the action sequences were poorly paced at best to laughable at worst.  The actor is too old to do action.  Reminds me of wanting McDairmid to fight Samuel L and Sidious coming off as lethargic.  They should have kept his helmet on so someone else could do the fight sequences.

Mandalorians are just cool.  After Jango, the Mandalorian arcs in The Clone Wars and Rebels and The Mandalorian, Boba came off as an old man that shouldn’t be close to surviving any of this.

The one time I thought, “now this is what I’m talking about” was when Boba and Mando attacked when flying with their jet packs.

Lots of things wrong with this but in the end it is mindless entertainment. Don’t look for a story that is buttoned up without glaring plot holes and just enjoy the ride.

I didn't watch the cartoons as they just don't interest me.  However, the people and creed of Mandalore being the "anti-Jedi" in many respects is pretty dope.  Complete commitment to their clan, deep attachment to each other.  Not trying to be the savior of the galaxy.  Not trying to be just or moral or anything like that.  Just adherence to their own creed and way of life.

LMAO at people complaining about plot holes and bad acting and cheesy characters on STAR WARS! Thats pretty much par for the course for anything related to Star Wars.

Boba was badass when he didn't have a weird accent and we didn't know what he looked like.  The mystique was part of the badassery.

This series neutered him.  The sand people stuff was good info, but over all they had much better things they could have done with him.  Then again, they weren't the ones who took off his helmet or gave him the accent in the first place.

Note:  not trying to come across as xenophobic, just that the accent added a specificity to his character that the random neutral voice in ESB didn't have.

Should never take a mask off. Shouldn’t have done it with Kylo, shouldn’t have done it with Boba, thankfully they’ve only done it once with Mando. The character is simply nowhere near as cool with the mask off.
Feels like Mando had it off at least twice... did a droid pull it off to patch him up some time, or did we see him eat in that village or something?

Droid pulled it off to save him from dying.  I believe at end of season 1.

Droid IG 11 took it off to patch him up. He took it off to impersonate an Imperial officer. He took it off to say goodbye to Grogu at the end of S2.

:nerd:

Yep. Darth Vader was cool in Star Wars and sucked as Anakin Skywalker. Boba Fett got neutered in this show. I’m sure the Tusken Raiders are wrinkled old people under there but I don’t need to see that. Pykes were the rare exception that their characters under the masks were also cool looking.

I don't have too big of an issue with Boba taking the helmet off. I do think giving the role to a 61 year old Temuera Morrison (when Boba is supposed to be 39ish) was the mistake. Just because Morrison voiced Boba in the DVD version of ESB and was the voice in a bunch of video games, didn't mean you had to use him here. Trying to appease the ultra nerd fanbois cost them the chance to cast someone that would have brought some energy to the role.

I think he primarily got the role because he played the role of Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, and as Boba is an exact, unmodified clone of him, easiest way to carry that over is with the same actor. I don't disagree with your criticisms, but it was a lot more than just using the same voice actor.

But that is why you keep the helmet on as much as possible.

I also never bought the need for the bacta tank.

Agreed .....I have thoroughly enjoyed the Mando, and Fett series.  I LOVE the spaghetti western style.  So refreshing, imo.

I kinda dug the fact that Fett stood up for the people of Mos Espa, and was still a badass.....

I like the more in-depth tusken raider content.

Boba Fett riding his Rancor monster?!  Oh hell yes!!

Ol Cad Bane reminded of what Tuco said in the G, the B, and the U......."When you have to shoot, shoot.....don't talk.". Classic mistake, and he paid for it with his life....RIP

Didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this was already posted.  My biggest issue with the storyline (spoilers here on our so don't read if you don't want any):

is Boba taking out Bib Fortuna to take over Jabba's previous territory.  Except in the original trilogy, Jabba was a big time gangster with bounty hunters flying all over the galaxy looking for space pirates that wronged him.  But, after he dies and Bib fortuna takes over, his  territory is only a third of some small city on a dessert planet in the middle of nowhere?  That didn't make any sense and wasn't consistent with the level of gangster Jabba was made out to be previously.

I get that after Jabba dies, maybe he doesn't retain all of his terrirtory.  But if it is just a third of Mos Espa, why is it even worth Boba's time?  They could have done the same storyline, but Boba needed to be flying around to different systems getting tribute, not walking across the street to city hall.  So dumb.

And to tack onto this, after seeing Bib in RotJ, I'm highly suspect that he had the wherewithal to actually take over Jabba's territory after he died.  He was a weak-minded fool, after all...

Felt like the Disney SW team was stuck filming in one location due to covid so they spent way too much time in the desert.

Worth watching just for the final 4 clone wars episodes…so good

Do I have to watch any of he others to get the backstory or do they stand alone?
The cartoons are great.  They're pretty episodic, but Ahsoka is the best story in Start Wars, and part of what makes it that good is that we watch her for something like 100 episodes building working under Anakin, so we know her better than any other character.  Anakin's turn was the most significant for her over anyone - Obi Wan, Luke, Yoda... she was closest to him and most betrayed.

At one point there was something like "The Ahsoka Collection" on Disney+.  If it's still there, I would imagine you could watch just that and get the best parts of Clone Wars and Rebels.  May as well before the Ahsoka show anyway.

ETA: Someone on Reddit put together a list of episodes to watch to get the essential Ahsoka, and it's only 7 episodes.  Since they're around 22 minutes each, you could burn through those pretty quickly and get the highlights.  The initial post in that thread implies that the Disney+ collection doesn't really point you to the right spots.
