Start David Garrard this week (1 Viewer)

Garrard with 336 yards if you count rushing yards double (282/27) and 2 TDs. Was hoping for more but certainly not a bad performance. Would have been much better to start Schaub, so :goodposting: to anyone who took my advice and benched Schaub. Never would have guessed he would do that to TEN especially after what he (and Ben) did last week.
:goodposting:
I don't think anybody else thought that Schaub could do that, either. That's why people bought into the Garrard hype so readily. The match-up didn't support a great game like that for Schaub.
It is more directed to Mr Stuart taking credit when his entire argument was based on how bad th AZ pass defense was. The AZ secondary locked up Garrard until garbage time.

great call by Chase and Dodds here!
Haha. Spend all afternoon making excuses why Garrard stunk and then post this. Good one.
excuses? I never said he was a good start this week. No idea where you're coming from in this thread but you don't seem to be reading my posts. My comments during the game today were simply relaying what I saw. I didn't start Garrard anywhere and could not have cared much less how he did this week. Cards D looked pretty good to me.
Humor detection way down?

Of course its humor it has to be, no one could take you seriously in this thread. Just trying to keep it grounded Mr Funnyman
bottom line is that people who started Garrard this week are not going to have much to complain about.
Right Aaron, which means you weren't trying to be funny. You're trying to be both sides and you can't. It's cool, you work for FBG, you got your boy's back in Chase...heck I even threw him a lifeline by predicting what would happen inthe 2nd half and Garrard delivered. You're right that Garrard owners who are pragmatist are going to love the stat line but it really doesn't tell the whole story does it?

of course not. the game was a blowout and Garrard picked up almost all of his stats in garbage time. Additionally, both TD plays were due to great plays from the receiver on short throws where they broke tackles and ran into the end zone. he did get robbed of a 3rd on a drop in the end zone though...and that fumble by Williamson definitely killed some momentum they had going.after watching every snap in the game for the first 3 quarters or so, it looked like an awful call...and nearly every response in this thread indicated as much. But, a lot of it had to do with the Cards offense keeping the Jags offense off the field. And, at the end of the day, Garrard bailed out his owners (and I guess Chase too) with a strong finish against a defense that had already let up considerably. Cards defense faded late against the 49ers last week too when they gave up that huge drive to Hill to lose the game.of course I was being sarcastic earlier. it should have been obvious. backdoor covers are still covers. But, this clearly looks like a better Cards defense to me after 2 weeks of the season. They aren't giving up the huge plays like they did last year.

most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. schaub is a qb beast when healthy.you point out the dud last week?look at tom brady this week and thats your answer.tennessee secondary cANNOT match up with hou passing targets.

Lots of people doubted that Garrard could be a legitimate QB1 this season, and he didn't exactly put those doubts to rest with his week one performance. I urge you, if you drafted him as part of your committee, to put him in your lineup this week. Why?

He's playing Arizona, who allowed a league-leading 22.5 FP/G to opposing QBs in 2008.

He's playing Arizona at home, who allowed 24.0 FP/G in road games to opposing QBs in '08. To opposing QBs outside of the NFC West, in five games, the Cardinals allowed 31.3 FP/G last year.

He's playing Arizona at home, at 1 P.M. His rookie tackles will look much better playing against the Cardinals than the Colts. Holt looks good, and MJD looks great. I expect, at a minimum, 200/2 by Garrard. Upside? QB1 for the week.

I'm getting as many of my Jaguars into my lineup as I can. I'm even thinking about playing Troy Williamson, although I'll probably go with someone safer like Mark Clayton. I know a lot of people doubt Garrard, but I'm willing to bank on him having a huge game this week. So, please, start him if you got him.
Good one, i lost because I didn't start Schaub!?! I hate myself sometimes....I always tell myself (go w/ your gut, go w/ your gut!)

He was worth 20.8 pts on my active roster this week. Not a hard pill to swallow although I can't wait for McNabb to come back. Might gun for Sanchez on my WW this week.

Garrard outscored Roethlisberger by 2.5 points in my league. Good call. I was nervous for a bit but it worked out in the end.

The best part of Garrad's start? My ride left at halftime today so I got home in time to see some good games.

The garbage time cover in fantasy points works out great this week. But if David get's benched, it's not going to help.

Garrard and Roethlisberger ended up scoring the same number of points on my league. And that's only because we give a bonus when a player scores out of their normal element (ie when Roethlisberger rushed in a TD). So it was a wash.

Say what you will, but Chase's prediction ultimately got it RIGHT for all the WRONG reasons.
Fixed. The rest doesn't matter.

can the Garrard justification by the staff please stop? it really is silly
If he does poorly this week, sure. If he does great, will the Garrard hating please stop? :coffee:
OK you got it. He has to throw for over 275 and 2 td. If so, I will stop bashin him. Deal? Will the staff pimpin then stop if he dont?
well here ya go, barely got it, and to me its not that great of a start anyway. Dude looked horrible until he went up against the prevent at the end of the game, but in FFL all you care about is results. But Chase lets not pretend that Garrard got his points becuase of Arizonas week pass defense.

Didn't take long but I wonder what he was thinking by signing up for this punishment in the 1st place. Apaprently either no one else wanted Holt or he wanted too much $. Regardless, he should have know he was signing up to play with a hack QB.

Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union reports via Twitter Jaguars wide receiver Torry Holt is on verge of going off about Jags struggles. He was going off about playcalling during game, according to his sources.

He was hot about playcalling. Was screaming about some calls as if he were talking to himself, but loud enough for everyone to hear.

You know the 'O' sucks when Holt is mumbling aloud to himself.

They plan on addressing this in the offseason with a helping of Tebow.

I can see Garrard getting more garbage time points after Schaub and the Texans build a nice lead against a pretty bad Jags pass defense this week. Houston's defense is pretty sieve-like.

Ahh, yes - here we go. After screaming curses at Garrard (and Chase) for three quarters last Sunday, I can't believe I am even considering this. But my other choice is Palmer, and I think Pittsburgh will be out for blood after losing to the Bears. I will probably roll with Garrard again, in the (probably vain) hope that the light finally has come on for him.Care to go out on a limb again this week, Chase?

What a stupid topic. Let's start doing this for every player though and give play by play fantasy analysis.

OMG ADRIAN PETERSON STUFFED BEHIND THE LINE -2 YARDS, WHAT A TERRIBLE DRAFT PICK AND STARTER THIS WEEK. OMG ONLY 3 YARD GAIN, THAT'S 1.0 YPC! ... 85 yard td run.

:hifive: Are you sure you are in the right thread?

Of course it matters.I will always take correct strategy over outcome. This is why in poker you don't analyze play via results, but rather your thought process in what you did.

Ultimately correct strategy and analysis wins out over the long run even if there is some short term variance to correct play.

Anyone else starting Garrard this week,

I know this might sound crazy, but I'm considering starting Garrard over Schaub for Week 6.

:blackdot:I've got the same decision to make.Something to consider is that JAX will be away and I think Garrard is not so good playing away. Hmmm....

Even so, I pretty much see no way I sit Schaub. 2 weeks at 13 points, and 3 over 40 in my league. And I like Garrard. Just not sitting a guy like Schaub for a QB so unpredictable as Garrard...Schaub's got weapons Garrard has wet dreams about.

I'm benching Garrard and starting Kurt Warner, but I'll continue to roll with MJD and MSW in the starting lineup. Don't necessarily want to overly commit to the entire Jax offense every week.

I drank this Kool-aid already this season, and I can testify that it has a somewhat pleasant flavor at first but leaves a very bad after taste.

I'm trying to have short term memory loss so I can forget about the horrendous week 5. I'd like to feel free to use Garrard again, but I dunno... It'd be easier if I didn't also own MJD--I feel too invested in that offense.

1. JAX is at home this week (which I finally learned last week is an absolute REQUIREMENT when starting Garrard)

2. They are playing STL

3. Sims-Walker should be back

If there ever was a week to start Garrard, seems like this is it. If he doesn't put up some numbers for me this week I'm gonna be PO'd...

Starting Garrard over Ryan last week cost me. Won't do it this week. Don't think Garrad should be relied upon to score 3 Tds. Ryan plays CHI at home.

Probably going Warner over Garrard. I can see Garrard outscoring him by a few, but I also think he is a bigger risk than Warner this week.

I'm dumping Garrard. How can you throw for 335 yards and not score a passing TD?

It should be interesting, though, to watch how Mike Thomas comes along as a receiver. I haven't seen him play yet, but I hear he's another Percy Harvin. Can anyone who's seen him play confirm that?
