Steelers at Ravens (1 Viewer)

Beating outplayed by 3rd stringer Charlie Batch at home.

Imagine this will come up as Flacco tries to secure a long term deal. He's just not taken the next step like Matt Ryan. He's worthy of an extension, but I wouldn't break the bank for the guy.

Based on today I would offer him an extension similar to what Pittsburgh will offer Batch...

13 touches. 13 ####### touches for Ray Rice. Are you ####### kidding me? #### you Cam. Die.
Going outside of the fantasy football realm for a minute, this is the reason the Ravens will pretty much never win a SB. 13 touches to one of the 2 or 3 best RB on the league when you have at best an average QB is a recipe for losing

I think this is a function of the Ravens being worse that their record would have you believe.

Since their bye week, right after they got bombarded by the Texans...the Ravens have beaten...

Cleveland - late 4th Quarter comeback

Steelers - Leftwich @ QB by 3 pts

Chargers - 4th and 29 miracle/incompetance by the Chargers

Then today, obviously just got beat by Charlie Batch @ home.

They have one "good" win all year...Pats.

I think this team is primed for a one-and-done in the playoffs...hopefully to the Steelers.

Not impressed with the Ravens at all this year. Would be shocked if they're not one and done in the playoffs.

If you look at their schedule, I am not sure they can be confident in wins in any of them. They could still miss the playoffs. 14 Sun, Dec 9 @ Washington15 Sun, Dec 16 Denver16 Sun, Dec 23 New York17 Sun, Dec 30 @ Cincinnati

What's crazy is that the Steelers at 7-5 really could have at least 2 more wins. The losses to Bal, Ten, Cle, and Oak were just brutal. Oakland couldn't beat the University of Pittsburgh right now.

So Tomlin brushed off Harbaugh during the postgame handshake. Maybe he was still bitter about the Gatorade bath in the regular season. Maybe he was mad about Hampton getting chop blocked more than once during the game. Whatever the reason I really enjoy the hate that both sides have for each other and I love every story(or maybe non-story in this case) that this rivalry brings.

Sometimes I know belabor it a little bit, but the way the team puts its fate in the hands of Joe Flacco instead of Ray Rice borders on the absurd.

With 4:50 to go in the third quarter, Rice takes a handoff and goes 34 yards for a TD that puts the Ravens up by 7.

On their next possession, with 1:52 to go in the third quarter, the first play is a handoff to Rice that goes for 10 yards. The Ravens' run game is rolling now. They are shoving it down the Steelers' throat and they can't stop Rice.

But they don't have to.

Because Cam Cameron does. And over the last 16:52 of the game, Ray Rice never touches the ball again. Meanwhile during that time, Flacco goes 3 for 7 for 23 yards, and is sacked twice, including the play where he coughs up the game-changing fumble.

To sum up, if you're beating the Steelers by 7 at the end of the third quarter, and Ray Rice has just gashed them for 44 yards and a TD on his previous two carries, is there any other team in the NFL (other than maybe Philly) that would never give him the ball again?

Agree 100% on the bad play calling but they aren't always that bad. That fake FG when they were up by 30 against the Raiders was brilliant.

It's pretty clear that the Ravens are a plucky little band of overachievers who have accomplished way more than they should have with the limited talent they have on the roster. The run had to come to an end sometime.

Maybe he was mad about Hampton getting chop blocked more than once during the game just about every damn play.
Edited that for ya. ;) "It was a run play, so it's legal!"

Biggest horsesh@#$ rule ever. If it's a dangerous/illegal play, it's a dangerous/illegal play, NFL. Shouldn't have it both ways.

I agree the Ravens have been less than impressive lately but they are still sitting pretty for the division. Their upcoming schedule is tough but I think they would have to lose at least 3 of 4 for the Bengals or Steelers to catch them and that is very unlikely.Assuming they win the division they'll get at least one home playoff game and the Ravens are still pretty tough to beat at M&T.

:goodposting: And this is the main reason why I never mention the Ravens when talking about the AFC elite; their defense isn't as good as it used to be, and Cam Cameron is an utter doofus when it comes to play-calling. I know, I know, the Ravens came thisclose to making it to the Super Bowl last year, but they needed the perfect storm to even get that far (the Texans not having Schaub, the Steelers getting upset by the Broncos, etc.). With the Texans, Broncos and Patriots all loaded this year and ready to go for January, barring catastrophic injuries to several of those teams, I see almost no way the Ravens get to the AFC title game again this year. Ignoring Ray Rice like that just shows how clueless their coaching staff is more often than not.

Agreed. Rule needs changed for sure.Given that its legal tho, I dont understand why Ngata/Kemo dont get chopped every play in similar fashion.

We've been posting about how entirely mediocre the Ravens are in our ***Official*** Ravens thread. I said last week that the Ravens could go 0-5 or 5-0 over their last 5 games; I still think they could easily win or lose any game remaining on their schedule. Well, except for Denver - Manning is going to eat them alive. There were Steelers running completely uncovered all over the field that Batch just couldn't hit - like Wallace in the back of the endzone - or that were botched, like Sanders on the play that should have been a 70-yard TD until he fumbled at midfield.I still don't understand how Ray Rice never touches the ball in the 4th quarter of a game where you're trying to protect a 7-point lead over the Steelers. Especially when he's gone for 34 and 10 yards on his last two carries. If RGIII looks tonight like he did on Thanksgiving, then I'm chalking up Washington as a loss. I think they hang on to beat the Giants at home, lose to Denver, and go into that Cincy game at 10-5. 10-6 probably wins them the division, because even if Cincy beats them, they're pretty good on tiebreakers.
