Not everything works on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. For example, Jane Krakowski can't act.

But the show makes me laugh a lot, and that's all that matters.
The characters are pretty much universally outlandish, to the point the mole-woman lead is the most sane one. It made me laugh a fair amount though.

Tina Fey's guest spot over the final too episodes was pretty terrible. John Hamm made up for it though.
Agreed. The whole Marcia Clarke/Chris Darden parody was really sad.
Yeah I am not feeling that bit at all (one episode to go in my queue). Although "Guess who loosened the jelly jar on that one" was a pretty darn funny line.

I watched Ep 1 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt last night. I was dying laughing the first 5 min. But once Kimmy hopped out of the van to stay in NY I barely chuckled the rest of the show.

Does it get better?

The highlight of the show for me is the interview with the neighbor in the first few minutes. It never gets better but it is still enjoyable.

So odd how different tastes can be - I couldn't make it through the first episode of Kimmy Schmidt. Big Tina Fey fan so was looking forward to it, but found it quite stupid and unfunny.

I started Maco Polo instead, enjoying it two episodes in.

I'm two episodes in and kind of wondering the same. Ellie Kemper is awesome. But that's about it.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has a lot of funny one-off jokes but on the whole I would be fine not watching season two. Unfortunately the SO may have me locked into the series.

I've been watching through Coach. Surprised to see there were 9 seasons of this show. VanDyke is hilarious. And now knowing that Dobber is Patrick from Spongbob adds a strange twist to the show.

Bloodline is a snore for me. Literally fell asleep during two of the four episodes I have tried to watch (a very rare occurrence for me). Very slow. Wife and I are agreed that we'll not be watching any more of it.

Somebody above mentioned that they don't care about the characters. I have to agree. I really wanted to like this because I have fond memories of Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights. Oh well.

I watched Indy Game: the Movie tonight...it's great. If you have any interest in video games, I highly recommend it. It covers three guys - one game designer who had a huge game, one about to release something, and a third working on something to go public after the movie.

I found it really inspiring...an underdog story that gets you cheering for these guys to succeed.

I really hate the bad brother.

Get a bad vibe when he is on the screen. I think they have done a great job channeling that.

I can see that on the others.

Watched ep 4 last night.

Yea, kinda slow but I will finish it out.

Not because I love it but because ii am pretty patient ....and a gluten for punishment

Sounds like I won't be giving Bloodlines a shot unless others come here saying they love it.

I watched the first episode of The Returned, not the French one on Netflix but the series on A&E. Pretty good start. I might watch the French pilot to see which one I'll go forward with.

Really enjoyed the French version.

No interest in giving the US a shot

I don't expect to watch both so I'll see if the French one is better. I usually prefer foreign versions more, especially when it's creepy like this show. i.e.- Let The Right One In

Culture High - Great and sobering documentary on how f'ed our political system is when it comes to the War on Drugs, specifically MJ. This incisive documentary examines the arguments and agendas of both those who support and those who oppose the legalization of marijuana.

I don't love it, but I'm in really deep like with it.

I admit it took me a handful of episodes to get in a groove with it and agree with a few others that some of the characters, I don't really care about. But with each passing episode it gets better and a new twist unfolds that you don't expect.

I recommend it, but you have to be patient with it.

Just finished watching the French version. Although they are shot nearly identically, I think I prefer the US version more. I like most of the cast more and the pacing is a little bit slower in the French version.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there won't be any boobs in the A&E version.

I haven't seen the US one yet- not that interested. But I wonder if it will convey the overall creepiness as well as the French one- all through technical, directing, editing, lighting, sound, etc. Those seem like easy things to get subtly different and wrong, IMO.

I was wondering about this show. How does it compare to The Tudors or Downton Abbey?
:lmao: I'm a rare person who enjoyed the show... It doesnt
Is it fun as pure, dumb camp?
it's a big dumb fun thing with lots of boobs and a terrible lead actor.
It's a shame they whiffed on casting Polo. Khan is fantastic.

So it's like Entourage.

I fully expected to like the French version by a wide margin for a lot of the reasons you mentioned but for some reason I prefer the US one. The cinematography is really good, especially with the great setting of the Pacific Northwest. I thought the introduction of the little boy and the covered walkway scene were creepier in the US version as well. A big reason might be, now this is just after watching one episode, is that I've seen enough of these shows/movies where everyone is in a somewhat emotionless haze to create a creepy vibe. I'm sure it's a big part of the French version but I liked the pacing and realism of the US version.

The French one did seem to have better music.

Maybe I'll do the same with the second episode.

I should watch the first US episode.

lol... the French music- I loved (I think it was by some well known electronica dude) , but IIRC they could only afford one song which got played over and over all season.

I'd be interested in hearing your take on it.

I doubt it'll compare well since you got immersed in the French version and I only saw one episode. It wasn't so much the songs but I noticed the score during the creepy parts and I didn't in the US version. Although some people have a problem with that when they notice it, like with There Will Be Blood, which I loved.

2 episodes into Bloodline.

I'm pretty sure it sucks, but might power through one more episode to be absolutely certain.

Went back and gave House of Cards another go. I am about 5 episodes in, and it is very good. Almost too intricate, as my dumb ### seems to be missing how a couple people/things tie in.
I was annoyed by Spacey's accent and his talking to the camera early on. But overall, the show is excellent and I am really glad I stuck with it.
Didn't like his accent? Is that because you know it is not his real accent? Personally I think he nailed it and I don't mind it at all.ETA: The show lost some steam for me with the big event towards the end of season one*, but I recalibrated my expectations and am sticking with it and still enjoying it a good deal (S2E1 was awesome). Will probably finish season three tonight actually.

Killing senator what's his face in the car.
At that point I realized it wasn't going to be the show I really thought it was trying to be but I accepted it and moved on.

Yea that's about the point I tapped out. It was a bit too much.

Was in the mood for some horror so I watched VHS/Viral. Not good but lots better than most horror out there. A notch below the other VHS movies but worth the watch imho.

I thought it was pretty bad. Just random stuff with no connection at all, even though they tried.

I liked the other two a lot.

As you said though, better than MOST horror out there. Agree there. Lot of real terrible stuff out there.

Liked the other 2 as well

Check out "Devil", thought that was pretty good. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/771203480/

Also liked "Resolution" http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/resolution_2013/

Not 'super scary', but a great mix of somewhat scary and very clever / funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it
:goodposting: Clever and funny is a perfect description.

Really enjoyed watching this with the wife and son.

The twist and turn were well played and completely changed the tenor of the movie from scary ghost story to scary stalker story. Man in the wall was great.

Charlie Victor Romeo.

Very odd/awesome/weird. Basically actors re-enacting 6 air disasters using the actual dialogue that was recorded.

Hard to explain. Just watch. But not before you fly.

I've been watching through Coach. Surprised to see there were 9 seasons of this show. VanDyke is hilarious. And now knowing that Dobber is Patrick from Spongbob adds a strange twist to the show.
Are you watching this because they are coming out with a new Coach? Supposedly it takes place around 18 years later and Coach Fox becomes an assistent coach on his sons football staff. His son is the head coach. I don't know how much of the old cast will join him.

Dobber has to be joining him. Has to. Not like he is swamped with work. I mean, 10 years worth of Patrick can be recorded in an hour.

Is VanDyke even still alive?

This really does seem like a super weird re-hash. Is it even going to be the same? Comedy? Maybe a drama now?? Who knows. Just seems odd.

They need to bring back Freaks and Geeks in some capacity. Maybe they all work in an office, or a factory, or a school.................hmmmmm

finished "the fall" tonight and was most disappointed with the ending. it seemed to have lost its way midway through this season. plot didn't do much to help the cast really with some really bad writing down the stretch. like i said in an earlier post, they could have done something really interesting with the setting and teased me into thinking as much in S1 at points. they got too focused on the killer and not enough on the characters. i'm not sure that i would keep up with the series if it came back.
S2 was a good until Ep 4 then it fell off a cliff... would have preferred a longer S1 to wrap up the storyline and start fresh in S2, there was a lot of WTF moments...
Yeah, the first few episodes of S2 were excellent but it's like they brought in an entirely writing team for the last three. And apparently it was the writers from CSI Miami or The Following or some equally terrible show.
Agree with all the above.

It's still very entertaining S1 and first half of S2. Then you can really just skim to the end and check out the "ending".
Finished this last night. I didn't like how they ended season 1 and hated how they ended this one. Overall it was a good season and I'll probably check out another if it comes back.
I agree with all the thoughts in this post. S2 fell apart halfway through and ended badly. The Jimmy subplot was so stupid.

The best part of this season? The girl who played, Olivia, Spector's daughter. She was a delight.

They have to make Season 3 about another case. I will give it a try but a short leash
