Julia Child show on HBO show is fantastic. Had to take a break from binging my brilliant friend for a few hours.
Thanks! I was looking for something different. Looks like a gradual release instead of a full season dump or are there only 3 episodes?

The Last Kingdom was a show I'd been watching since the beginning. So much so, that I almost wished it would continue on. I feel like the series, the scenery, the plot, historical relevance, etc., was extremely well done. However, I agree with @Snogger. They ended the Finale perfectly. I won't detail what I found touching in the last scenes (for fear of spoilage)...but in a weird way, it moved me emotionally. Probably because I had followed since the beginning, and  I felt like I knew the characters personally. Anyhow kudos Netflix!
Fwiw, they are finishing the series for real with a movie called "Seven Kings Must Die". They just wrapped filming of it apparently and it'll be on Netflix at some point in 2023.

Altered Carbon was only worth it for the full Ortega
1st season was just weird enough to be really interesting. Very cyberpunk, neo-noire feel. The massive amount of gratuitous nudity certainly was a nice bonus.

I didn't hate the 2nd season as much as others but it was definitely a massive drop in quality. Firing all your writers in between seasons (I read this online so could be wrong, but the writing was not good in the 2nd season) and sanitizing the nudity out was a genius move by Netflix  <_<

Halo episode 2 blows. Pointless action - JUMPED INTO AN ASTEROID FIELD, NOBODY CHASING US, MUST ACCELERATE!  Subway car that jumps to catch a cable… no point.

starz Power, never watched this before and enjoyed season 1. my ####### thought power book 2 was the second season and was confused. welp now i’m back on the proper power season 2 :wall:

oh... I've been meaning to mention Porn and Ice Cream (Porno y helado) on Amazon... Argentinian absurdist comedy.

I absolutely love this thing. Imagine the Beard episode of Ted Lasso as a series, centered around two 30ish man-child dudes and made more absurd and meta. I feel like they pulled in elements of a ton a sit coms (a lot of Seinfeld, imo). that they probably liked and just went goofy with it all. The budget is pretty low and don't expect high-brow here- with any of it, particularly some of the acting, but again- I love this thing.

The 1st episode of Moon Knight on Disney+ was good.  I might even subscribe for another month so I can see the rest of the season.  I usually only subscribe to Disney for a couple of months a year to watch the few new things that are available.

Sub-titled?

Disagree!

Totally not unusual to come out of slip-space (warp drive) in sci-fi and not knowing exactly what to expect.  Plus I took it as coordinates he had to find his pirate king buddy whose asteroid fortress was being protected by the asteroid field.  Note it kept the bigger ship of Spartans from following him the entire way.

I thought it was better than episode 1 - new people (Soren and Makee), new worlds, set up internal struggles in the UNFC, we find out the Covenant is looking for a superweapon, and here comes Cortana!

Love this series so far.  Full disclosure - Halo junkie.

Eat Brains Love (AMC+) was good.  zomromcom again, along the lines of Warm Bodies.  This one was a little more gruesome, but kind of a high school stoner zombie movie also - worth watching, though of course it's not a good movie.

Winning Time with another great episode. Adam McKay is a stud for for doing this story and for filming it in the manner he did.
Was listening to NBA radio today and Kareem called it trash and refused to speak on it further.

The above notwithstanding, it's been a very entertaining watch.

Yeah not sure how accurate it is with the players. Think I heard Magic chirping as well. Kareem is always bitter though which they even I thought did a good job telling their version of why that is.

This show is hitting all my sweet spots, however. Played basketball growing up and the NBA, while behind college Bball in young General's life, was right there and Magic / Bird / Celtics vs Showtime was the ####. The actors are great, always very hard to pull off when doing sports movies. The story is very well developed and them dropping in all these blasts from the past, has been hitting my nostalgia buttons in all the right spots.

The art direction and the way it is edited have been the best part for me. Looks amazing, great music. And, they have really just started telling the story of the season. Can't wait until they get into that.

Looking forward to the transformation of Riley as well...they quickly hinted at that last episode when he was looking at himself in the mirror after he was listening to Chick Hearn's BS.

Two thumbs way up.

Watched Archive 81 again, this time with niece (18) and son (14).  They loved it... sucks that there won't be another season.

Strange decision given it’s popularity and good reviews. I thought it was a little long but definitely would have watched a season 2.

Disagree, it was a very one season show IMO
Yeah, I might agree - the strength of the show was the build up and discovery of the links between the two main characters through the restored film.  The final two episodes were neat enough to complete the story, but a completely different tone.  If they had a second season, it would kind of just turn into adult Stranger Things.  I guess I wish they had known it would be one season going in so that they could have closed a few loops.

Even before I knew there wouldn't be a second season, I was saying they left it open too much for one. I'm sure it isn't easy but I wish more shows would wrap up a season without looking ahead to a second.

Hate to disappoint you guys but they’ve already canceled the show so no second season. I actually enjoyed it and would have watched another season.
Fanboys of the original anime ripped the show to shreds online, review bombed it like crazy for example. It never had a chance. Haven’t seen a big name streaming show canceled that fast in pretty much ever.

If you like no-holds-barred battles between rival Jamaican drug gangs in London, Top Boy on Netflix is for you.
I really enjoyed it. Watch Top Boy Summer House first... then the more recent Top Boy. All well done, all reminiscent of The Wire without much police story tho.

By the time i finished i was saying things like, Wagwam, fam, bruv....haha

I don't recall Slow Horses on Apple TV+ mentioned in here yet, but I just read this article and watched the trailer and I'm definitely going to check it out.   The Gary Oldman character in particular looks awesome.

Premise:  Jackson Lamb heads up a team of British intelligence agents who serve in the dumping ground department of MI5 -- Slough House -- due to their career-ending mistakes.  This quick-witted spy drama follows the dysfunctional team and their obnoxious boss as they navigate the espionage world's smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.

Thanks for this info. I'm at the perfect point (end of Season 1) to stop and go back to watch Summerhouse.

Yeah, this is set in a place where even subtitles aren't a whole lot of help. 😆

Yankee on Netflix is another drug trafficking story from the Mexican border. I'm in binge mode and it has my attention but I wouldn't call it great. Just pretty good (starting ep 4) with the potential to get much better. I'm a sucker for police procedurals and organized crime stories of all sorts so it is in my wheelhouse. If you like this stuff like me, worth a try so far.

Saw an ad for a new Amazon Prime show starring Josh Brolin called “Outer Range” that starts a week from today (April 15th.)

At first the ad kind of looked like a copy of Yellowstone but it changed gears quickly into something very sci-fi and weird. Definitely going to check it out. Here’s the blurb:

”A rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness.”

Will definitely check this out, sucker for sci-fi and weird, and if they can really toss in an unfathomable mystery I'm all in.
