This week’s Lioness episode was pretty intense. I’m assuming that was the season finale.
Really enjoyed the season.
I feel like I missed a part of the plot along the way

they were just trying to kill the Chinese scientists?

Who was the dude tied up and why was he
yes.
The Chinese CIA-equivalent agent who was embedded with the cartel and pushing them to attack the U.S., basically.

Lioness has been such a treat. Such a great show. Greatly anticipate each weekly episode. Ranked 2nd for me on the Taylor Sheridan playlist just behind 1883. My only red flag, as someone with combat experience, is how overweight Two Cups is. Guys in his position aren't chunky. Ha ha

I got a watch-suggestion on Thanksgiving for Supernatural. I was told that there would be times during the first two seasons that I would want to bail, but to give it a full 3 seasons before deciding one way or the other. I'm in the middle of season 2, and he wasn't kidding, this is a bit of a slog. It's got 15 seasons, so I'm half-way hoping season 3 flops for me otherwise I've got a lot of binging ahead of me.
Over-all it's a pretty good series all the way through.
First few seasons are 'episodic' (each episode is a standalone adventure for the most part) then it switches gear into 'serialized' (each season is now story arc based). And of course they tie it all together for an end game. Highly bingeable.

Secret Level season 1 is out. Trailer.
Fun anthology where each episode is short and based upon an iconic video game.
Animation is excellent. If you like Love, Death, and Robots - you'll like this.

1. Dungeons & Dragons: The Queen’s Cradle
2. Sifu: It Takes a Life
3. New World: The Once and Future King
4. Unreal Tournament: Xan
5. Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear
6. Pac-Man: Circle
7. CrossFire: Good Conflict
8. Armored Core: Asset Management

7 more episodes release DEC 17th

Been watching death and other details on Hulu. Murder mystery type series. Not bad so far.
Was intrigued by that one but sort of looked like a rip off of Murder on the Nile or whatever it was called. Let me know if you’d recommend when you get through it…
Can’t comment on murder on the Nile as I haven’t watched it, but 3 episodes in to this and the wife and I both like it.

It doesn't seem to take itself too seriously and nobody should. It's kind of mindless TV but I've been entertained enough to finish it out. I think we have like 2 episodes left. Acting isn't great but you get some moderate to good eye candy and a reasonable mystery to follow.
Just watched this as a concession to my wife. It was........ tolerable. Agree with you about the eye candy. Didn't like following the mystery, which changed directions more and more rapidly with each episode to just an extent it was useless to keep track.
My review: "Only White Lotus Murders On The Cruise Ship"

The first episode of Landman was decent but after the third one, I'm not sure I'll make it through the season. I'll give it one more.

I thought the wife should have come out in a whip cream bikini when she was seducing Billy Bob in episode 2 or 3.

His wife and daughter are hot but the show would be better without those storylines. They're like cartoon characters.

Wife and I through a couple episodes of Black Doves. We'll probably give one more episode a shot. Teetering on bailing.

Totally agree. Also, there is no believing that the daughter is in high school.

Ahhh memories of Ai Larter.
I thought they should have just dove full on and had Billy Bob's character's name as Mox and the wife as Darcy. They could have had Hamm be Lance Harbor and Billy Bob & Tweeter be roughnecks.

What is with the casting of Demi? She is barely on screen. That role could have been played by anyone.

Hamm hasn't done much yet either so maybe just for name recognition or their roles get bigger eventually.

I want to like it more, but there's something about it I find goofy. Similar for me with S1. Still an ok ride for me, just something in tone, writing or approach that doesn't work for me.
I think the big picture storytelling is good but the writing is definitely clunky on a line-to-line basis. Lots of the dialogue that I'm sure Sheridan thinks is supposed to be deep and meaningful is cringey. But I still love the show. Example from the end of season 2:

Kidman makes a remark to the CIA guy after he throws up after an intense scene where those two had just witnessed a brutal murder and coup. CIA guy says he's not throwing up from nerves or disgust, but because their actions aren't going to change anything in the big picture.

But you can see where Hamm could become a much bigger part. So while he hasn't been in a lot (through the three episodes I have seen) I think he will become a big player soon. My guess is Demi will also start to be a player as time goes on.

PS: I get distracted by Demi as she looks more like Courtney Cox (before all the work) than she does herself.

My teenage daughter is trying to get me to watch Outer Banks (Netflix). After the first one, all I could think about is how much I hate teenagers.

Someone please tell me that it gets better and that I don’t have to sit through it just to spend quality time with my kid—though I suppose that after having made her watch gems like License to Drive and Roxanne, I owe it to her.
I think it’s a fun show, my kids like it too so something we can watch together. It’s definitely a bit dumb and far fetched at times

I think gets a bit more adventurous over time, kinda like Indiana Jones with a band of teenagers, but that Pogue / Kook drama is still an underlying theme

started slow but was a good show and sort of a different take on things and how spies lives are take that to the bank brohans

I'm on the other side of the fence, love it. Look forward to watching it, Billy Bob Thornton is awesome and the story lines are great.
I knew it wasn't really my kind of show and probably wouldn't have watched it without Billy Bob. He is great in it but not sure he's enough to keep me going. Hopefully it gets better.

HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?! LDR is one of my favorite shows, and this looks amazing. added to my watchlist immediately.

Wife and I through a couple episodes of Black Doves. We'll probably give one more episode a shot. Teetering on bailing.
It picks up a bunch the last 3 eps, fwiw.

But if you're not into at this point, not sure much will change for you. I enjoyed it.
Yeah we haven't hated it. Just with the plethora of streaming options now we both really need to be into a show to continue with it. My wife also doesn't love the gore stuff so the show has to be spectacular (GoT, BB, etc. type level) for her to continue.

I just watched this over the last couple of days on a friends recommendation. I didn’t bail but maybe because it was only 6 episodes. Was hard to root for anyone involved. A little cartoony.

I mentioned in my initial post about it that I felt it struggled with tone. And yeah- the violence was a bit cartoony. I found myself rooting for the guy sidekick.

Ok, Im equal parts terrified and falling out of my chair with excitement... Just found out Netflix is showing a 100 Years of Solitude miniseries!

Garcia Marquez reportedly refused to allow its use in film and TV. His sons agreed after his death to allow a long form miniseries, provided it was filmed in Colombia in Spanish.

This will be in 16 parts and no big English language stars. Starts Dec 11... No idea if it's a big bingeable drop or weekly. I kinda hope weekly.

This is my #1 with a bullet favorite book.

Supposedly drops on Wednesday.

digits crossed.

Just watched ep1.

Oh yes. This could be really, really good. Feels like the book from what I recall of it last time I read it.

So I signed up for my free trial of paramount+ so I could binge watch 1883/1923. Just got done with the first 3 episodes of 1883 and I think it's ok. I think I sort of dislike the narration. It's a show, not a book.

The oxen thing is dumb but much easier to buy horses than oxen so understandable from a production standpoint. The dialogue in the love subplot is a little cringy to me. The setting is a little odd to me but I'm being overly nitpicky or I'm just dumb. Sam Elliot is a boss. It happens with all shows so the plot can happen but some of the things that happen felt contrived.

One thing that has nothing to do with anything but it's so odd to see it being "presented by mtv". I know Paramount owns them but when I think of MTV I think of stuff like Jersey Shore and other low tier reality shows and a show like 1883 seems so far removed from "mtv". I think most of us are old enough to remember when they actually played music.

Speaking of MTV and spring break.....

I watched Girls Gone Wild: The Untold Story on Peacock. I thought it was interesting. I remember seeing the commercials on Comedy Central but I didn't know a lot of these allegations and his legal problems. I do like true crime docies from time to time.

Those shows got better as they went along. The starts were slow. 1883 in particular gets very good. The character development halfway through is better.

My favorite last episode is easily The Americans. But IMO the last episode of 1883 is one of the 10 best last episodes of a series.

I am watching back Mindhunter right now. I think it is very well done, well-casted, well written, along with likeable characters. It gets a bit mundane at times, but overall a solid show.

For reference, these are my favorite shows, in no particular order. Mr. Robot, The Americans, Game of Thrones, Letterkenny, and Dexter.

I thought they just announced the Dexter prequel was beginning production but it actually starts on Friday. Dexter: Original Sin premieres on Paramount + Showtime. I only have regular Paramount+, so I'll wait to read reviews before considering upgrading.

For sure. But that's the character... She's a shell/spy. Going long con like that seems, dunno- unlikely and silly as a plot device (as does the whole Black Dove concept...what are they, Charlies Angels but to the highest bidder?). But I appreciate how it was written for her and played by Knightly given that background and storyline.

First few seasons are 'episodic' (each episode is a standalone adventure for the most part) then it switches gear into 'serialized' (each season is now story arc based). And of course they tie it all together for an end game. Highly bingeable.
I've heard (/reddit) that season 4 is really good, which I'm getting ready to start today.

Season 3 was ok, but I haaaaaaaaated the character Lauren Cohen (Maggie from TWD) played, and not in a villain way - more like a Jar Jar Binks level of hatred.
Hoping it gets better so if 3 is ok and 4 is good that's encouraging.

The kid and I are at the last 2 eps of S2 and the end of the yellow eyed demon (I think). We liked S1 a lot, but S2 has been boring. Some good moments but overall boring and somewhat predictable.

I've generally been entertained by Black Dove for the first few episodes and it has the benefit of being one of those shows that my wife and I both equally enjoy. I am guilty of falling asleep a couple of times, though - it's certainly not riveting in the way that Lioness has been for us recently.

I gotta say S4 is pretty good so far - I'm about 6 or 7 eps in. I keep forgetting this was originally on the CW or WB or whatever, so they had a line they had to walk content wise. But so did Buffy TVS, and I liked that show a lot better than this one (and it held up on rewatch). I think this show would have been a lot better if it was on FX and they could go all 'Punisher vs. Demons' with this thing.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I just watched the mini-series Waco: The Aftermath, and thought it was excellent. A sequel to the 2018 series Waco, it can be seen on HBO or Paramount Plus. Both series have an excellent cast and are very well-done, with Michael Shannon leading the way in both as an FBI hostage negotiator. Giovanni Ribisi is also in the sequel, and he is flat-out phenomenal in his role.
