Almost done with Breaking Bad (going to start season 5 pt 2 this week) - Honestly the best television series I've ever watched. Captivating TV.
Once the show ends, I'll be a FA, and I'm not sure what to watch next. What Netflix show would you guys suggest?
Here is a sampling of what is in my queue:
Dexter
Orange is the New Black
House of Cards
Arrow
Other
I also have HBOGo, and have been thinking about Boardwalk Empire or The Newsroom.
Thoughts anyone?
Rome
Oooo I forgot Rome. Great show.
More essential HBO greats:
Carnivale
Deadwood
The Larry Sanders Show
Six Feet Under
I've seen Rome, it is a truly outstanding series that met its demise far too early.
Yeah, I could have used at least two more seasons of that show.
Yeah, that feels about right.
I strongly encourage people to watch Rome followed by BBC's 1976 miniseries
I, Claudius. Of course I, Claudius can't match Rome for production value (it's 1976) but it is a remarkably well told story and it pulls no punches when it comes to the excesses of the Roman rulers. It is surprisingly mature and is not afraid to get dark.
The story picks up towards the end of the reign of Augustus (Rome ends with the beginning of his reign) and follows the succession through Nero, Caligula and Claudius.
It is one of my all time favorites and I cannot recommend it strongly enough.
